Abstract:The application of SDRAM in fingerprint recognition system is stated.The SDRAM has become the chief choice of the buffer storage because of the high speed,big capacity,but it cannot directly interface with DSP. Therefore,FPGA is adopted to implement the interface between DSP and SDRAM.

Abstract:This paper presents an SDRAM interface design for video processing circuit, which balances between performance and mode selection with high efficient full-page mode and ping-pang mode of a SDRAM. It provides a new approach to high-speed data processing with large high-in-out-rate memories.

Abstract:The paper introduces the research trend for the access bottleneck between the data intensive computing architecture and memory. Aiming at the high needs for the data intensive computing architecture’s access to memory, an integrated DDR SDRAM controller is presented and prototyped in FPGA. The key points for the DDR SDRAM controller are a fixed initiation procedure and its dedicated custom system bus. Simulation results and analysis demonstrate the controller basically conquers the access bottleneck between the data intensive computing architecture and memory.

Abstract:The implementation of SDRAM controller for embedded real-time image processing system is presented.According to the request of data transmission rate and continuity in real-time system,SDRAM is programmed with full-page burst mode and asynchronous FIFOs are used as data buffer between FPGA and SDRAM.The pipeline architecture based on ping-pong operation,which can achieve seamless temporary store,is introduced to cooperate with the full-page burst mode and make full use of SDRAM′s high-efficient access property.This method is applied to a real-time infrared thermal imaging system and the result shows that this controller has the features of high executing efficiency,less resources occupation and powerful portability.

Abstract:So far traditional fingerprint recognition platform uses CPU to realize algorithm. This kind of platform cannot meet the demands of market concerning power consumption and portability. With the occurrence of standard CMOS technology fingerprint sensor chip which is integrated with SPI, USB and parallel data interfaces, as well as the wide application of DSP in the field of image processing, an embedded fingerprint recognition architecture based on DSP becomes absolutely the research direction of future fingerprint recognition system. The paper presents the solution to build a hardware platform for an embedded fingerprint recognition system based on DSP. It explains the control method and the image sampling of the sensor. It analyzes the performance features of DSP. Finally it analyzes the control method to get image with the highest quality. This system has good flexibility. It not only provides a solid hardware structure for future fingerprint recognition software, but also has huge reference value for future research and development of embedded fingerprint recognition system that requires high speed, low cost and high recognition rate.

Abstract:For different applications,sampled data may contain different type signals,which need varied data frame structure to be processed.Therefore,flexible storage and reconstruction of the sampled data for dada processing are needed.A structural state machine was designed for storage control of SDRAM,which is based on a file structure data cache storage program with FPGA.Likewise,a reconstruction module of data frame structure is also realized.This new design is applied in a practical system with good performance in speed and reliability,and it also can be easily used in other storage systems with its flexibility.

Abstract:The proposed FPGA-based system uses DMA technology to cache multi-channel parallel data, and to send data to processing system orderly after data re-organization for display and analysis. Embedded technology is used to make system portable for operation environment of electronic equipment. Parallel digital signal acquisition experiment result shows that this system can acquire 62 channel digital signals correctly and synchronously at four gear sampling frequency of 5 MHz, 2.5 MHz, 500 kHz, and 50 Hz.

Abstract:Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) plays a very important role in sensor data acquisition and processing with its rich interface resources and excellent parallel processing ability. In general, the FPGA is responsible for driving the sensor, processing the pixel data in parallel and then transfer the pixel data to the upper computer. However, with the high speed and real-time requirements of image acquisition system, color image processing by traditional personal computer (PC) cannot achieve the maximum video display frame rate. This problem is obvious for those of high resolution sensors. At the same time, the pixel data transmission between the FPGA and PC will become unstable and then make frame lost when the frame rate increases. Given the advantage of FPGA in parallel processing, this design will implement sensor video processing pipeline (VPP) with the FPGA, and select the technically mature, large capacity, high speed storage device double data rate (DDR3) to cache image data. The experimental result shows that the FPGA-based video pipeline processing and DDR3 frame cache application can increase the video frame rate and improve the transmission stability of video data.

Abstract:A plurality of image processing algorithms requiring the use of external memory exist in high speed CCD systems in general.However,as to the prior technologies,one external memory can only satisfy one algorithm,thus several external me-mories need to be added in the design of hardware,which is not conductive to the minimal of CCD.To solve this problem,a design of arbitrator with DDR3 memories was proposed.Based on the high-speed reading characteristics of DDR3 and the technology of TDMA (time division multiplex access),this method made it possible to use only one external memory,resulting in smaller sys-tem size.Results of experiments show that this technique can achieve accurately reading and writing data stream by using only one DDR3 .

Abstract:High-speed and high-capacity data ping-pong storage without dead time is a key technology in seismic data acquisition systems.A design was proposed that realizes two DDR SDRAM controllers by sharing the same PLL and DLL in an FPGA and was applied in the fiber connection interface board(FCI)in high-precision marine seismic data acquisition and recording systems.The FCI is responsible for seismic data reception,data ping-pong storage,data convertion from time sequence into channel sequence,etc.Final system simulation and test results showed that the controllers can be operated stably at the frequency of 133 MHz,achieving the expected goal of the design.

Abstract:In this paper by use of Hardware Description Language (VHDL) and Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD), a design of the interface between TMS320VC33 and Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) is accomplished, and expatiate the methods that solve the problems of access timing conversion and conflict between access and refresh in detail. Using this interface TMS320VC33 can access Dynamic RAM as easy as access Static RAM. The capacity of DSP system memory is improved greatly by use of this interface, and the need of DSPs application in data acquisition and image processing is met. Because this interface is designed by VHDL and CPLD, it can be modified easily to interface with other microprocessors or buses.

Abstract:In this article we put forward a practical AFIS (automatic Fingerprint Identification System)scheme based on TI company's DSP chip TMS320VC33 with high performances, which is integrated with CPLD and peripheral memories, and we introduce the design of the whole system, including hardware and software. Our algorithm features a fast computing speed, a high resolution, and an excellent compatibility as well.

Abstract:Fingerprint matching is a key procedure in fingerprint identification applications. The minutiae-based fingerprint matching algorithm is one of the most typical algorithms achieving a reasonably correct recognition rate. This study proposes a coarse-grained parallel architecture called fingerprint matching core (FMC) to accelerate fingerprint matching. The proposed architecture has a two-level parallel structure (i.e., parallel among groups (PAG) and parallel in group (PIG)). A multirequest controller is added to the PAG structure to obtain a concurrent operation of the multiple processing element group (PEG). The DDR3 controller is used in the PIG structure to read eight minutiae from eight different fingerprints and realize the simultaneous computation of the eight PEs. The whole system is implemented on a Xilinx FPGA board with a Virtex VII XC7VX485T chip. The 16-PEG FMC achieves a throughput of about 9.63 million fingerprint pairs per second, which is larger than that achieved on a Tesla K20c platform. The software execution times are also measured on the 2.93GHz Intel Xeon 5670, 2.3GHz AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6376, and Tesla K20c platforms. The Intel Xeon 5670 has two processors with 12 cores, and the AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6376 has two processors with 16 cores. Moreover, the throughput is about 31 times that achieved on a 2.93GHz Intel Xeon 5670 single core.

Abstract:This paper presents a high performance hardware architecture of face recognition algorithm based on local binary pattern. Through the software implementation of the algorithm, the optimization of the data's widths and block size can be obtained. Then a hardware structure based on the algorithm is proposed. The histogram statistic and recognition can be handled concurrently with a ping- pang memory and the data throughput can be increased with the pipeline and parallel processing units. The proposed architecture is implemented in the Xilinx Virtext- 7 FPGA VC707 evaluation board and is verified with a large number of training pictures. The design costs 5975 LUTs and the clock frequency can be up to 233MHz. For a library with one hundred thousand faces, the proposed design can recognize 1.7 faces per second and its recognition speed is 74 times faster than the software's in the general CPU platform.
