Abstract:The passive filter design is introduced in this paper.The theory of the design is analyzed,considering the demand for increasing the power factors of the load and filtering out the harmonics which is brought by the nonlinear load.Correctness is proved by the simulation of practical example.

Abstract:This paper proposes an improved design of LCL-Filters for Three-Level Shunt Active power filters (APF). Available design principles are presented to achieve high compensation bandwidth and low switching frequency current. Then, affecitons of different parameters are taken into consideration of constraints on LCL-Filter design with detail analysis of ripple current. A simple and practical design procedure of LCL-Filter for Three-Level APF is subsequently proposed. The first step is to choose the resonant frequency of LCL-Filter according to the highest order harmonic needed to be compensated. Then it is aim to optimize the parameters of the LCL-Filter based on the design principles and constraints. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Design Method of High Performance Digital Low-Pass Filter in Harmonic Detection Algorithm

Abstract:In order to deal with the time domain harmonic detection algorithm of active power filter(APF),a high performance digital low pass filter(HPLPF) was presented,which can satisfy the requirements of dynamic response and filtering accuracy simultaneously.Infinite impulse response filter(IIR) and moving average filter(MA) were analyzed and compared.Then the HPLPF was introduced by cascaded MA filter and Butterworth filter optimally.The proposed high performance filter can fully use Butterworth filter to achieve more precise filtering results and improve dynamic response by using MA filter with its narrow transition zone and fast dynamic response.Simulation results show that the proposed HPLPF meets the demand of time domain harmonic detection algorithm better under the complex harmonic currents situation with inter-harmonics currents.

Abstract:Aiming at the actuality that the extensive application of power electronics results in serious harmonic pollution and aeronautical power supplies demand on high reliability,the passive three-phase power factor correction have been applied in the aeronautical power supplies.There are two methods of the passive three-phase power factor correction:the first one is that the filter capacitors and inductors are applied in the input-end of alternating current,and the second one is that the filter capacitors and inductors are applied in the output-end of three-phase rectifier.The advantages and drawbacks of the two methods of the passive three-phase power factor correction aer concluded in this paper through simulation and analysis and verified by experiment.To reduce the voltage stress of power switching transistors,the second method of power factor correction was applied in aeronautical power supply.

Abstract:A novel combined power filter system is developped. It consists of a small rated active filter and a passive filter which are connected in series with each other and installed in parallel with the compensated harmonic load. The active filter is controlled to make the series harmonic impedance of the passive and active filters equal zero, so as to improve the filtering characteristics of the passive filter. The main circuit and control circuit construction are introduced, the filtering principle and control strategy are discussed. A combined power filter test system is designed, which is used to eliminate harmonics of harmonic load. The experimental results prove that the filtering principle and control strategy of the combined power filter system are correct, and the filtering effect is perfect.

Abstract:A novel hybrid active power filter (HAPF) controlled simultaneously by the harmonic voltage from the network and the harmonic current from the load is presented. A series parallel resonance passive filter is adopted. The theoretical analysis and compensation characteristics of the HAPF as well as design of the passive filter are given. The simulation results show that the HAPF is suitable for harmonics suppression for most of power electronic equipment.

Abstract:The growing development of distributed generation and storage devices has allowed the growth of micro-grids in low voltage and medium voltage grids. This caused the increase of voltage harmonics with high frequency in LV and MV grids. This aspect is most important to right operations of the VSI-current controlled. This paper investigated the effect of the voltage high frequency ripple in the point of common coupling for the current total harmonic distortion, hence to improve the power quality have been used active low pass filters for the feedforward grid voltages in the current inner loop. Furthermore, some types of active low pass filters and their performances have been compared.

Abstract:Few papers focused on the LCL filter research and design in Active Power Quality Controller(APQC)However,the characteristics of LCL filter greatly influence the attenuation of switching harmonics,harmonic compensation of grid and the stability of APQC.This paper focuses on analysis of the functional contribution of each components and the influence of LCL values on the effect of attenuation of switching harmonics.A simple but practical method to design VSC side's inductor of the filter is firstly proposed.Finally,the simulation as well as the 50kVA APQC prototype experiment validate the above analysis,and show that the design approach is feasible.

Abstract:Besides characteristic harmonics,there are many non-characteristic harmonics in power system.The common passive filter cannot deal with it,which worsens the filter performance and may be results in the resonance to destroyed the filter device.According to this problem,the paper presents a novel resonant C type hybrid active power filter (RCHAPF) and makes research on its design method.The principle of RCHAPF is analyzed and a complex control strategy for detecting both load harmonics and grid harmonics is proposed.Simulative and experimental results show that the RHCAPF has more excellent performance and better application outlook than the single tuned hybrid APF.

Abstract:LCL-type filter possessing sufficient attenuation ratio for switching ripple with small LC parameters is appropriate to be used as output filter to get high slew rate of compensation current. However, LCL-filter, as a three order resonant circuit itself, is difficult to be stable. This paper compares active and passive methods for LCL-filter resonance damping; assesses their suitability for the high power active power filter application and presents their benefits and drawbacks. The results presented show that both methods compensate harmonics effectively and attenuate switching ripple sufficiently. However, there are still some differences both in the filtering performance and the power losses in the high power application. The active methods require more sensors and increase algorithm complexity, while additional damping resistors are needed in the passive methods and result in large losses. Simulation validates the feasibility of the method proposed by this paper.

Abstract:A method is proposed, based on the instantaneous reactive powertheory, to detect instantaneous reactive current and high frequency harmonic current simultaneously. Furthermore, a combined system of a shunt passive filter and an active filter is presented. Computer simulation and experiments show that the active power filter system can effectively suppress the high frequency harmonics and reactive currents at the same time.

Abstract:Some important factors for designing a series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) are presented in this paper for the case when the load is varied in a wide range and/or the source voltage is seriously distorted. Special design of passive filters, adaptive control of parameter and multi variant control are discussed in detail. The filter is stable, has good performance, and causes small capacitive reactive current. The simulation and experimental results accorded with the theoretical analysis results.

Abstract:In recent years, there is an increased use of passive filters in both transmission and distribution systems due to the proliferation of power electronic devices. However, the problem of filter design has not been well addressed in the past and one example is the application of high-pass filters in a filter package. Three types of HP filters are widely used to mitigate multiple harmonics, i.e., 2nd HP filter, 3rd HP filter and C-type filter. There is still a lack of research to clearly reveal the characteristics of each filter, which makes it difficult for the designer to select the optimal filter topology under different circumstances. The main goal of this paper is to solve the problem of how to select a proper configuration among three HP filter candidates for a given harmonic problem. Unlike the conventional optimization-based filter studies, this paper investigates three HP filters in an analytical way. As a result, the paper provides a deep insight into the inherent characteristics of the filter and the conclusions drawn in the paper are universal; thus can be used in different applications, ranging from low voltage levels to high voltage levels. The research results lead to a recommended application scope of each HP filter, which is very useful to guide the design of filter packages and help designers to evaluate the design results.

Abstract:In order to resolve the problems of grid side current distortion amplification and damping resistance heating,an engineering design method of active power filter ac side output filter was proposed.Second order high-pass filter was selected as the topology of active power filter output filter.This paper discussed the design method of output filter based on comprehensive consideration of switching ripple current filtering,total harmonic distortion(THD),var of capacitor,power loss of output filter through theoretical analysis and simulation.The proposed method was used to design an output filter for a 50 kVA shunt active power filter.The results show that current ripple remains 1/4 of that before filtering,grid current THD rises about a point and damping resistor heating is controlled effectively through bypassing more than 90% frequency current.The results prove the validity of the proposed method.

Abstract:A simple study on traditional hybrid active filter was introduced,which was not suitable for harmonic compensation in high power factor conditions due to the high fundamental impedance and the large additive reactive current injection.Then a new topology of hybrid active power filter with improved passive filter was proposed.Compared with the traditional one,the new topology has the advantages include reducing the reactive current injecting into the main grid,having better impedance-frequency characteristic,using fewer passive component,makes up the deficiency used in high power factor circumstance,and owns a brighter future.

Abstract:In this paper, a double closed loop current controller is proposed for Parallel Hybrid Active Power Filter (PHAPF) characterized by series connection of a three-phase single-tuned series resonance LC filter for the seventh harmonic frequency and a low voltage rating three-phase voltage source PWM inverter. The proposed controller is composed by a grid current feedback control and a 5th harmonic of grid current feedback control aiming at enhancing filtering characteristics at 5th harmonic frequency. The dc-voltage control loop is also designed based on system model with PI regulator. Simulation and experimental results obtained from a 20kVA/380V laboratory system verify that the proposed control strategy could not only improve the effect of passive filters but also acquire good filtering performance at both steady and transient state.

Abstract:Along with massive applications of power electronic equipment and non-linear loads, harmonic pollutions are becoming more serious than ever. This paper describes a novel electromagnetic coupling reactor based passive power filter with dynamic tuning to quickly eliminate harmony. Firstly, the structure and mathematic model of electromagnetic coupling reactor are presented; secondly, the employed parameters, including electromagnetic coupling reactance converter, primary winding coil, and secondary winding coil are designed based on a stable structure of data; then, the test plat of passive dynamic tunable filter is introduced, as well as the performance test. According to the experimental results, the newly designed electromagnetic coupling reactor can effectively eliminate the harmonies generated by the nonlinear load, greatly reducing the harm caused by harmonics on the grid. By fine-tuning the electromagnetic coupling reactor, the dissonance caused by the change of capacitance and other issues can be effectively solved. Finally, the detailed discussion of this paper is presented, and challenges and new future research are discussed.

Analysis of a Novel Hybrid Series Active Power Filter Topology

Abstract:The basic principles for suppressing the harmonics of the conventional series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) are analyzed qualitatively. Based on these, a novel series hybrid active power filter is proposed. Compared with the conventional series active power filter (SAPF) or the series hybrid active power filter, its active part only needs to suppress some low order harmonics. So the capacity factor of the inverter's DC voltage is much improved and the power fating of the active part is decreased markedly, while its filter quality does not decline. The detailed theoretical analysis is given, and the feasibility is verified through simulation and experiment on a 10kVA prototype.

Abstract:The harmonic interference in the industrial process can deteriorate the quality of electricity energy,and it may cause some faults,even accidents,so the elimination of the harmonic interference is a necessity.Practically,the passive filter is used to attain this goal,and its parameters are very important.Based on Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm with elitism approach(NSGA-II),the optimization of passive filter's parameters is presented.Conventionally,those parameters are chosen by personal experience,and can hardly reach the optimal point.With the parameters of passive filter optimized by NSGA-II,the minimum investment is obtained,and the harmonic interference is effectively eliminated.The simulation results show the effectiveness of NSGA-II.

Abstract:Basic principles and structure of power active filter is introduced in this paper.Parallel structure is applied to the design of power active filter control system.Further dynamic analog experiments on APF protection circuits and interface circuits have been carried out under different conditions.The result shows that the power active filter control system,the protection circuit and interface circuit turned out to that as expected.The machine set operates steadily and reliable,and meets the design demands.
