Abstract:The NaHSO4/MCM-41 catalyst was synthesized by supercritical impregnation and investigated in dehydration of castor oil. The NaHSO4/MCM-41 prepared by wet impregnation was also tested. The supercritical condition was favorable to improve NaHSO4 dispersion. The amount of interaction sites between NaHSO4 and MCM-41 was enhanced and NaHSO4 leaching was retarded. Surface area, pore volume and size, total amount of acid sites, and the ratio of BrOnsted to total acidity were increased. The BrOnsted acid sites and the weaker acid strength were beneficial to produce dehydrated castor oil (DCO). Therefore, coke formation was retarded and castor oil conversion, DCO selectivity, and stability of the catalyst were obviously improved.
