Abstract:A series of SrSiAl2O3N2:Eu(2+) (0.005 ≤x≤ 0.05) phosphors were successfully synthesized through a pressureless, facile, and efficient solid state route. The crystal structure, band structure, and their photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence properties were investigated in detail. The phosphors exhibit rod shape morphology with a uniform Eu(2+) distribution. Under n-UV excitation the emission spectra shift from 477 to 497 nm with an increase of Eu(2+) concentration. The concentration quenching mechanism of Eu(2+) emission was dominated by the dipole-dipole interaction. The thermal stability is comparable to that of the commercial Ba2SiO4:Eu(2+) phosphor. The phosphor also exhibits high current saturation and high resistance under low voltage electron bombardment. All the results indicate that the SrSiAl2O3N2:Eu(2+) phosphors can be considered as candidates for application in both white LEDs and FEDs.

Abstract:A series of phosphors (Ca1-x Sr-x)Al2Si2O8:Eu2+,Dy3+ (x=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.8) and Ca0.6Sr0.4Al2Si2O8:yEu(2+),2yDy(3+) 0.005, 0.01, 0.015, 0.02) were prepared. It was found Ca(0.6)SraLiAl(2)Si(2)O(8):Eu2+,Dy3+ achieved the highest mechanoluminescence intensity, and the optimal Eu2+ and Dy3+ co-doping contents were 1% and 2%, respectively. The emission peak of Ca(0.6)SraLiAl(2)Si(2)O(8):0.01Eu(2+),0.02Dy(3+) was located at 413 nm on ML spectrum, which was similar to the photoluminescence, indicating both mechanoluminescence and photoluminescence were attributed to the 4f(6)5 d(1) -> 4f(7) transition of Eu2+. Also Ca0.6Sr0.4Al2Si2O8:0.01Eu(2+),0.02Dy(3+) exhibited an excellent threshold force (130 N) in the extremely broad tested force range (130-3000 N) and kept a nearly perfect linear response, which made it a potential candidate for application of pressure sensors. The introduction of Sr2+, Eu2+ and Dy3+ caused lattice distortion, formation of more defects, and thus generation of more suitable traps to capture the electronic carriers under ultraviolet excitation. Increasing the number of traps and tuning of the trap depth were found to increase the mechanoluminescence response. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Multi-color single-phase white emission Sr3B2SiO8:Tm3+/Dy3+/Eu3+ fluorescent powders were prepared by solid-state fritting method. The fluorescence performance of Tm3+, Dy3+ and Eu3+ ions single-activated Sr3B2SiO8 phosphors were investigated and they exhibit desirable behaviors in their characteristic emissions. Meanwhile, the energy required for migration from Tm3+ to Dy3+ and from Dy3+ to Eu3+ in co-doped fluorescent substance was determined by the aids of steady-state and transient-state photoluminescence spectra/ decay measurements. The energy transmission process from Tm3+ to Dy3+ and Dy3+ to Eu3+ has been explored to be a dipole-quadrupole interaction and a dipole-dipole interaction of the resonant type, respectively. More significantly, by tuning the molarity ratio of doping Dy3+/Eu3+ ions, multicolor emission from yellow to red shall be achieved in Sr3B2SiO8:Dy3+, Eu3+ phosphors for its potential adhibitions in solid-state lighting applications. The Sr3B2SiO8:Tm3+, Dy3+ samples can implement white light emission by the appropriate changeable doping molar quantity of Tm3+ and Dy3+, applying potentially in white LEDs. The energy migrations between co-doped rare earth ions play a decisive role in these processes.

Abstract:A series of white-light-emitting NaSrPO4:Eu2+, Mn2+ phosphors were successfully synthesized by solid-state reaction and their photoluminescence properties were investigated. The NaSrPO4:Eu2+, Mn2+ phosphor system exhibits a broad excitation band in the wavelength range of 250–420nm, which is well-matched with ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting-diode (LED) chips (typically 365nm). As a result of fine-tuning of the emission composition of the Eu2+ and Mn2+ ions, warm-white-light emission can be realized in a single host lattice under 365nm excitation. Efficient resonant energy transfer from the Eu2+ to Mn2+ ions has been observed. The energy transfer efficiency and critical distance were calculated. The results indicate that the developed phosphor can be used as a potential candidate for white LEDs.

Abstract:Eu2+ and Eu3+ co-doped phosphors SrAl2O4: Eu were synthesized in air via conventional solid-state reaction. The composition and valance state of doped ions were examined and verified by x-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), diffuse reflection spectra and photoluminescence (PL)/photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra. Under ultraviolet (UV) excitation, the broad emission peaking at 519 nm was assigned to the 4f65d–4f7 transition of Eu2+, and the series of narrow bands peaking at 619 nm originated from the 4f–4f transition of Eu3+ ions. The self-reduction processing of Eu3+ could be controlled by the variation of the Eu3+ doping concentration, annealing temperature and holding time, and the emission colour of synthesized phosphors could be regulated from yellowish green to white. The optimized doping concentration of Eu3+ was 1 mol%, and the annealing temperature and holding time were 1350 °C and 3 h, respectively. Accordingly, the phosphor emitted white light under the excitation of 365 nm with the CIE coordinates (0.3312, 0.3578) and colour temperature 5562 K.

Abstract:The effects of different doping concentration of Eu2+ on the properties of Sr2Al6O11-based phosphor were studied. The results indicate that there are two main emission peaks at 403nm and 493nm existing, in the phosphor, while the doping concentration of Eu2+ is below 0.01mol, which are corresponding to various, Sr1 and Sr2 sites in the Sr2Al6O11 matrix. While increasing the doping concentration of Eu2+, the emission peak of 403nm disappears and the peak of 493nm becomes strong simultaneously due to the energy transfer. between the different Eu2+ centers. Decay curves imply that. the phosphor without co-doping Dy3+ has no long afterglow properties. When the doping concentration of Eu2+ is 0.01mol, the long afterglow is the best in three experimental samples with different Eu2+ contents. The luminescent properties will decrease while increasing the doping concentration of Eu2+ due to the concentration quenching.

Abstract:The single-phased phosphors doped with Eu2+ and Eu3+ have shown the potential for the application of white-light-emitting diodes (wLEDs). In this manuscript, we introduced a simple method of co-doping terbium ions into the Sr4Al14O25:Eu2+/3+ phosphor to achieve the tunable chromaticity and the good color rendering performance. The phosphor was synthesized through the conventional solid-state reaction in a non-reducing atmosphere. The phase purity was examined by XRD analysis, and the luminescent properties were discussed systematically depending on the room-and low-temperature photoluminescence spectra. The emission spectrum of the sample Sr4Al14O25:0.01Eu(2+/3+), 0.06Tb(3+) covered the whole visible spectral region with a white light emission (0.2799, 0.3059), indicating that the present phosphor could be suitable for the wLEDs application.

Abstract:A novel Sr3YNa(PO4)3F:Tb3+, Eu3+ phosphor was prepared by high-temperature solid-state reaction method. The optical properties and luminescence mechanism were investigated in detail. The emission spectra and lifetime curve of Sr3Y0.92-yNa(PO4)3F:0.08Tb3+, yEu3+ phosphors indicate that there is efficient energy transfer between Tb3+ and Eu3+, and the mechanism is confirmed as dipole–quadrupole interaction. By adjusting the Tb3+, Eu3+ doping ratio, Sr3Y0.8Na(PO4)3F:0.08Tb3+, 0.12Eu3+ showed warm white light at color coordinates (0.3244, 0.3316). White light evidently relates to visible range.

Abstract:Energy transfer among the co-doped activators is an efficient route to achieve color-tunable emission in inorganic phosphors. Herein, photoluminescence tuning from blue to cyan has been achieved in the Lu2MgAl4SiO12:Eu2+,Ce3+ phosphors by varying the Ce3+ concentration with a fixed Eu2+ content. With the further introduction of a Mn2+-Si4+ couple into the host lattice, the emission color can be tuned to red through the energy transfer of Eu2+ and Mn2+. The luminescence properties and the energy transfer mechanism were studied in detail. The energy transfer from Eu2+ to Ce3+ is certified as a dipole-quadrupole interaction with the energy transfer efficiency of 41.4% and Eu2+ to Mn2+ belongs to a dipole-dipole interaction with the energy transfer efficiency of 94.3%. The results imply that this single-phased Lu2MgAl4SiO12:Eu2+,Ce3+,Mn2+ phosphor has a potential prospect for application in near-UV chip pumped white light emitting diodes.

Abstract:A series of single-phased emission-tunable SrCaAl2SiO7:Dy3+, Tm3+ phosphors were successfully synthesized by solid-state reaction process. By controling the energy transfer, the emission colors could be tuned from blue to yellow, including the white light region. It was discovered that the energy is transferred from Tm3+ to Cy3+ by luminescence spectra and decay curves. The resonance-type energy transfer from Tm3+ to Dy3+ was demonstrated to be via the dipole-dipole mechanism. By changing the doping concentration of Dy3+ and Tm3+ in SrCaAl2SiO7, the sample with corresponding color coordinates close to the white color chromaticity coordinates (x=0.33, y=0.33) could be realized. Abstract:A series of CaSrSiO4:xDy3+,yEu3+ white phosphors were successfully synthesized by high-temperature solid-phase reaction technique. The physical phase, optical performance, energy transfer mechanism and thermal stability of the samples were studied. It has been shown that the concentration quenching point of CaSrSiO4:xDy3+ phosphors is x = 0.05 at the excitation of 365 nm. In CaSrSiO4:0.05Dy3+,yEu3+ phosphors, the emission intensity of Dy3+ gradually decreases with the increase of Eu3+ doping concentration. While the emission intensity of Eu3+ first increases and then decreases, the concentration quenching point of Eu3+ is y = 0.08. The analysis of the lifetime decay curves demonstrates the existence of an energy transfer process from Dy3+ to Eu3+ in CaSrSiO4:Dy3+,Eu3+ phosphors. The energy transfer from Dy3+ to Eu3+ is dominated by dipole-dipole interactions, with the highest energy transfer efficiency of 63.1 %. By adjusting the doping concentration of Eu3+, the doping of Eu3+ not only effectively improves the stability of phosphor, but also enables tunable color temperature from cold white light to neutral white light, which is a potentially promising white light emitting material.

Abstract:A series of novel Eu2+/Mn2+ co-doped color-tunable Sr3La(PO4)3 phosphors were synthesized by a high-temperature solid-state reaction. The photoluminescence properties and energy transfer process were investigated in detail. Two emission bands attributed to the Eu2+ and Mn2+ ions are observed under UV light excitation via an efficient energy transfer (ET) process. When the Eu2+ doping content is fixed, the emission chromaticity can be varied from blue to red by simply adjusting the content of Mn2+. The photoluminescence and lifetime analysis indicate that there is an efficient energy transfer from the Eu2+ to Mn2+ ions via a quadrupole–quadrupole mechanism with the critical distance of ~10Å.

Abstract:Eu3+ doped SrAl2B2O7 phosphors were fabricated by the wet method. The structures of the phosphors were characterized by XRD. The doping content of Eu3+ ions in SrAl2B2O7:Eu3+ phosphors are 1%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% (molar fraction), respectively. Luminescence properties were analyzed by measuring the excitation and photoluminescence spectra. The luminescent properties of SrAl2B2O7:Eu3+ phosphors are discussed. It is shown that from 4% to 6% of doping content of Eu3+ ions under 392nm excitation in SrAl2B2O7:Eu3+ phosphors is optimum.

Abstract:Eu2+ and Mn2+ co-doped calcium aluminate silicate chloride phosphors with the chemical composition of Ca3Al2Si2O8Cl4:Eu2+, Mn2+ have been prepared by a solid-state method, and their luminescence properties have been investigated by tuning the En2+/Mn2+ ions concentration. The phase formation and microstructure of Ca3Al2Si2O8Cl4:Eu2+, Mn2+ phosphors have been illuminated by XRD and SEM analysis. Photoluminescence (PL) spectrum reveals that Ca3Al2Si2O8Cl4:Eu2+ exhibits a strong blue emission band centered at 431nm, while Ca3Al2Si2O8Cl4:Eu2+, Mn2+ can emit bluish-white light by adjusting the Mn2+ content appropriately. The energy transfer mechanism involving Eu2+–Mn2+ have also been investigated.

Abstract:Dy3+-doped or Dy3+/Mn4+ co-doped Ca14Al10Zn6O35 phosphors were prepared by the solid-state reaction method. The phosphors were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, luminescence analysis, and thermal stability analysis. The obtained phosphors can be excited efficiently by NUV light and exhibit blue/yellow emission and deep red emission, which result from F-4(9/2) -> H-6(15/2)/F-4(9/2) -> H-6(13/2) transitions of Dy3+ ions and E-2 -> (4)A(2) transition of Mn4+ ions, respectively. The efficient energy transfer from Dy3+ ions to Mn4+ ions was confirmed, which was realized via the electric dipole-dipole interaction. The thermal quenching temperature of the phosphors is higher than 463 K, indicating that the phosphors have an excellent thermal stability. The temperature-induced electron population variation in the vibrational states caused the different influence on the emission intensity of Stokes and anti-Stokes sidebands of Mn4+ ions. By adding Na+ ion as a charge compensator and changing its doping concentration, the emission intensity of Ca13.88Al9.99Zn6O35: 0.12Dy(3+), 0.01Mn(4+) sample can be enhanced and the color tunability can be achieved. Ca14Al10Zn6O35: Dy3+, Mn4+, Na+ phosphors have potential application in solid-state lighting field.

Abstract:The Sr2Al2SiO7:Eu2+, Ce3+ phosphors were synthesized by a high temperature solid-state reaction. Effective energy transfer occurs in Ce3+ and Eu2+ co-doped Sr2Al2SiO7 due to large spectral overlap between the emission of Ce3+ and excitation of Eu2+ ions. Co-doping of Ce3+ enhances the emission intensity of Eu2+ greatly by transferring its excitation energy to Eu2+ ions. The critical distance has been estimated to be about 1.83nm by spectral overlap method. Furthermore, the developed phosphors can generate lights from blue to green region under the excitation of UV radiation by appropriately tuning the activator content. The Sr2Al2SiO7:Eu2+,Ce3+ phosphors are promising phosphors for warm-white-light-emitting diode because of its effective excitation in the near ultraviolet range.

Abstract:A series of Dy3+ - Eu3+ co-doped BaAl2Si2O8 phosphors were prepared via the conventional solid-state reaction method. Their crystal structure, luminescent characteristic and lifetime were investigated. The optimum doping concentrations of Dy3+ and Eu3+ are both 0.05 for Dy3+ or Eu3+ singly doped BaAl2Si2O8. Furthermore, BaAl2Si2O8: 0.05Dy(3+) and BaAl2Si2O8: 0.05Eu(3+) emits yellow and red light. The emission color of BaAl2Si2O8: Dy3+, Eu3+ could be tuned from yellow to white due to the energy transfer. This energy transfer from Dy3+ to Eu3+ was confirmed and investigated by photoluminescence spectra and the decay time of energy donor Dy3+ ions. With constantly increasing Eu3+ concentration, the energy transfer efficiency from Dy3+ to Eu3+ in BaAl2Si2O8 host increased gradually and reached as high as 81%, the quantum yield was about 47.43%. BaAl2Si2O8: Dy3+, Eu3+ phosphors can be effectively excited by UV (about 348 urn) light and emit visible light from yellow to white by altering the concentration ratio of Dy3+ and Eu3+, indicating that the phosphors have potential applications as a white light-emitting phosphor for display and lighting.
