Abstract:We study some equivalent properties of the curvature dimension inequality CD(n,K) on locally finite graphs.These equivalences are gradient estimate,Poincaré type inequalities and reverse Poincaré inequalities.We also obtain one equivalent property of gradient estimate for a new notion of curvature dimension inequality CDE'(∞,K) at the same assumption on graphs.

Abstract:Detailed analysis shows that the famous Iyengar inequality actually says that the Trapezoidal formula is a central algorithm for approximating integrals over an appropriate interval for the class of functions whose derivatives are bounded by a positive number K in L ∞ -sense. The inherent nonlinearity from central algorithms reflects the importance of the Iyengar inequality and thus makes familiar linear methods malfunction when one tries to generalize it. It is shown that the generalization depends on a nonlinear system of equations satisfied by a set of free nodes of a perfect spline. Explicit constructions are obtained in the spirit of the Iyengar inequality for the class of functions whose r th ( r ≤4) derivatives are bounded by a positive number K in L ∞ -sense because a closed solution to the nonlinear system is only available for r ≤4. Connections with computational mathematics, especially with best interpolation and best quadrature, are discussed. Numerical experiments are also included.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive Li-Yau inequality for unbounded Laplacian on complete weighted graphs with the assumption of the curvature dimension inequality CDE′(n,K), which can be regarded as a notion of curvature on graphs. Furthermore, we obtain some applications of Li-Yau inequality, including Harnack inequality, heat kernel bounds and Cheng's eigenvalue estimate. These are the first kind of results in this direction for unbounded Laplacian on graphs.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a Talenti-type comparison theorem for the $p$-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary conditions on open subsets of a $\mathrm{RCD}(K,N)$ space with $K>0$ and $N\in (1,\infty)$. The obtained Talenti-type comparison theorem is sharp, rigid and stable with respect to measured Gromov-Hausdorff topology. As an application of such Talenti-type comparison, we establish a sharp and rigid reverse Hölder inequality for first eigenfunctions of the $p$-Laplacian and a related quantitative stability result.

Abstract:In this article, we prove various gradient estimates for unbounded graph Laplacians which satisfy the ellipticity condition. Unlike common assumptions for unbounded Laplacians, i.e. completeness and non-degenerate measure, the ellipticity condition is purely local that is easy to verify on a graph. First, we establish an equivalent semigroup property, namely the gradient estimate of exponential curvaturedimension inequality, which is a modification of the curvature-dimension inequality and can be viewed as a notion of curvature on graphs. Additionally, we use the semigroup method to prove the Li-Yau inequalities and the Hamilton inequality for unbounded Laplacians on graphs with the ellipticity condition. Abstract:We prove the Li-Yau gradient estimate for the heat kernel on graphs. The only assumption is a variant of the curvature-dimension inequality, which is purely local, and can be considered as a new notion of curvature for graphs. We compute this curvature for lattices and trees and conclude that it behaves more naturally than the already existing notions of curvature. Moreover, we show that if a graph has non-negative curvature then it has polynomial volume growth. We also derive Harnack inequalities and heat kernel bounds from the gradient estimate, and show how it can be used to strengthen the classical Buser inequality relating the spectral gap and the Cheeger constant of a graph.

Abstract:We prove the equivalence between some functional inequalities and the ultracontractivity property of the heat semigroup on infinite graphs. These functional inequalities include Sobolev inequalities, Nash inequalities, Faber–Krahn inequalities, and log-Sobolev inequalities. We also show that, under the assumptions of volume growth and CDE( n , 0), which is regarded as the natural notion of curvature on graphs, these four functional inequalities and the ultracontractivity property of the heat semigroup are all true on graphs.

Abstract:In recent years, discrete notions of curvature have been defined and exploited to understand various geometric properties of graphs; especially regarding heat flow, and spectral properties. In this paper, we study various combinatorial properties implied by satisfying the Bakry–Émery curvature dimension inequality CD(∞,K) . In particular we derive a local discrepancy inequality, similar in spirit to the expander mixing lemma from spectral graph theory, which certifies a type of "local pseudo‐randomness" of the edge set of the graph, for graphs satisfying a curvature lower bound. In addition, several other consequences are derived regarding graph connectivity and cycle statistics of the graph.

A Note on Free Boundary Problems on RCD(K,N)-spaces

Abstract:This note is devoted to prove the following results on RCD(K,N)-spaces: 1) minimizers of one-phase Bernoulli problems are locally Lipschitz continuous; 2) minimizers of classical obstacle problems are quadratic growth away from the free boundary. Recently, both of these two results were obtained on non-collapsed RCD(K,N)-spaces; see [13,23]. This note will prove these two results without assuming that the ambient space is non-collapsed. We also include a proof of nondegeneracy of minimizers and locally finiteness of perimeter of their free boundaries for two-phase Bernoulli problems.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with upper bounds of eigenvalues of Laplace operator on compact Riemannian manifolds and finite graphs. While on the former the Laplace operator is generated by the Riemannian metric, on the latter it reflects combinatorial structure of a graph. Respectively, eigenvalues have many applications in geometry as well as in combinatorics and in other fields of mathematics. We develop a universal approach to upper bounds on both continuous and discrete structures based upon certain properties of the corresponding heat kernel. This approach is perhaps much more general than its realization here. Basically, we start with the following entries: 1◦ an underlying space M with a finite measure μ; 2◦ a well-defined Laplace operator ∆ on functions on M so that ∆ is a self-adjoint operator in L(M,μ) with a discrete spectrum; 3◦ if M has a boundary, then the boundary condition should be chosen so that it does not disrupt self-adjointness of ∆ and is of dissipative nature; 4◦ a distance function dist(x, y) on M so that |∇dist| ≤ 1 for an appropriate notion of gradient.

Abstract:Let B2(p) be an n-dimensional smooth geodesic ball with Ricci curvature ≥ −(n − 1)κ for some κ ≥ 0. We establish the Sobolev inequality and the uniform Neumann-Poincaré inequality on each minimal graph over B1(p) by combining CheegerColding theory and the current theory from geometric measure theory, where the constants in the inequalities only depends on n, κ, the lower bound of the volume of B1(p). As applications, we derive gradient estimates and a Liouville theorem for a minimal graph M over a smooth complete noncompact manifold Σ of nonnegative Ricci curvature and Euclidean volume growth. Furthermore, we can show that any tangent cone of Σ at infinity splits off a line isometrically provided the graphic function of M admits linear growth.

Abstract:We study several problems related to the $\ell ^p$ boundedness of Riesz transforms for graphs endowed with so-called bounded Laplacians. Introducing a proper notion of the gradient of a function, we prove for $p\in (1,2]$ an $\ell ^p$ estimate for the gradient of the continuous time heat semigroup, an $\ell ^p$ interpolation inequality as well as the $\ell ^p$ boundedness of the modified Littlewood–Paley–Stein function for a graph with bounded Laplacian. This yields an analogue to Dungey’s results in [21] while removing some additional assumptions. Coming back to the classical notion of the gradient, we give a counterexample to the interpolation inequality and hence to the boundedness of Riesz transforms for bounded Laplacians for $1<p<2$. Finally, we prove the boundedness of the Riesz transform for $1< p<\infty $ under the assumption of positive spectral gap.

Abstract:This paper studies eigenvalues of the drifting Laplacian on compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary (possibly empty) and provides a general inequality for them. Using the general inequality, we obtain universal inequalities for eigenvalues of the drifting Laplacian of Payne-Pólya-Weinberger-Yang type for manifolds supporting some special functions.
