Abstract:Let (X, tau(1)) and (Y, tau(2)) be two Hausdorff locally convex spaces with continuous duals X, and Y', respectively, L (X, Y) be the space of all continuous linear operators from X into Y, K (X, Y) be the space of all compact operators of L (X, Y). Let WOT and UOT be the weak operator topology and uniform operator topology on K (X, Y), respectively. In this paper, we characterize a full-invariant property of K (X, Y); that is, if the sequence space X has the signed-weak gliding hump property, then each; lambda-multiplier WOT-convergent series Sigma(i) T-i in K(X, Y) must be X-multiplier convergent with respect to all topologies between WOT and UOT if and only if each continuous linear operator T: (X, tau(1)) --> or (lambda(beta), sigma(lambda(beta),lambda)) is compact. An application of adjoint ideal sheaves to injectivity and extension theorems

Abstract:This note reviews the authors' approach to Fujino's conjecture, i.e.~the injectivity theorem for lc pairs on compact Kähler manifolds, via the use of adjoint ideal sheaves coupled with the associated residue computations in their previous work. Using only the techniques and results obtained from that study and under a slightly stronger positivity assumption, a ``qualitative'' extension result is obtained. Such extension result guarantees the existence of a global holomorphic extension $F$ of any holomorphic section $f$ on some $\sigma$-lc centres of the given lc pair. The extension $F$ can be shown to take values in the corresponding adjoint ideal sheaf, even though it comes without any $L^2$ estimate of $F$ in terms of $f$. Moreover, the proof invokes and implies no vanishing theorem in general.

An injectivity theorem on snc compact Kähler spaces: an application of the theory of harmonic integrals on log-canonical centers via adjoint ideal sheaves

Abstract:Let $(X,D)$ be a log-canonical (lc) pair, in which $X$ is a compact Kähler manifold and $D$ is a reduced snc divisor, and let $F$ be a holomorphic line bundle on $X$ equipped with a smooth metric $h_F = e^{-\varphi_F}$. Via the use of the adjoint ideal sheaves (constructed from $\varphi_F$ and $D$) and the associated residue morphisms, sections of $K_D \otimes \left. F\right|_D$ on $D$ (as well as those of $K_X \otimes D \otimes F$ on $X$) can be related to the $F$-valued holomorphic top-forms on each lc center of $(X,D)$ by an inductive use of a certain residue exact sequence derived from the adjoint ideal sheaves. The theory of harmonic integrals is valid on each lc center (which is compact Kähler), so this provides a pathway to apply the techniques in harmonic theory to the possibly singular Kähler space $D$. To illustrate the use of such apparatus in problems concerning lc pairs, we prove a Kollár-type injectivity theorem for the cohomology on $D$ when $F$ is semi-positive. This in turn also solves the conjecture by Fujino on the injectivity theorem for the compact Kähler lc pair $(X,D)$, providing an alternative proof of a recent result by Cao and Păun.

Some Kollar-Enoki type injectivity and Nadel type vanishing theorems on compact Kahler manifolds

Abstract:In this paper we will first show some Kollar-Enoki type injectivity theorems on compact Kahler manifolds, by using the Hodge theory, the Bochner- Kodaira-Nakano identity and the analytic method provided by O. Fujino and S. Matsumura in [15, 25, 36, 39]. We have some straightforward corollaries. In particular, we will show that our main injectivity theorem implies several Nadel type vanishing theorems on smooth projective manifolds. Second, by applying the transcendental method, especially the Demailly-Peternell-Schneider equisingular approximation theorem and the Hormander L2 estimates, we will prove some Nakano-Demailly type and Nadel type vanishing theorems for holomorphic vector bundles on compact Kahler manifolds, twisted by pseudo-effective line bundles and multiplier ideal sheaves. As applications, we will show that our first main vanishing theorem generalizes the classical Nakano-Demailly vanishing theorem while the second one contains the famous Nadel vanishing theorem as a special case.

Abstract:We give a new proof of Kollár’s conjecture on the derived pushforward of the dualizing sheaf twisted by a variation of Hodge structure. This conjecture has been settled by M. Saito via the theory of mixed Hodge modules and has various applications in the investigation of Albanese maps. Our technique is L^2 theoretic which gives concrete constructions and proofs to the conjecture. The L^2 point of view allows us to generalize Kollár’s conjecture to the context of non-abelian Hodge theory.

Abstract:We prove relative injectivity, torsion-freeness, and vanishing theorems for generalized normal crossing pairs on schemes, algebraic stacks, formal schemes, semianalytic germs of complex analytic spaces, rigid analytic spaces, Berkovich spaces, and adic spaces locally of weakly finite type over a field, all in equal characteristic zero. We give a uniform proof for all these theorems in all the categories of spaces mentioned above, which were previously only known for varieties and complex analytic spaces due to work of Ambro and Fujino. Ambro and Fujino's results are integral in the proofs of the fundamental theorems of the minimal model program for (semi-)log canonical pairs and the theory of quasi-log structures. Our results resolve a significant barrier to extending these results on (semi-)log canonical pairs and quasi-log structures beyond the setting of varieties and complex analytic spaces. In order to prove our most general injectivity theorems, we generalize to all these categories of spaces a criterion due to Guillén and Navarro Aznar characterizing when functors defined on smooth varieties extend to all varieties. This extension result uses cubical hyperresolutions, which we construct in all categories of spaces mentioned above. Our extension result is very general and is of independent interest. We use this extension result to prove our injectivity theorems for generalized normal crossing pairs. We also apply our extension result to develop the theoretical foundations for the Deligne-Du Bois complex in these categories of spaces and to construct a weight filtration on the (pro-)étale cohomology of schemes and rigid analytic spaces. These results establish some aspects of Deligne-Hodge theory in all categories of spaces mentioned above.

Abstract:In 1995, Kollár conjectured that a complex projective $n$-fold $X$ with generically large fundamental group has Euler characteristic $\chi(X, K_X)\geq 0$. In this paper, we confirm the conjecture assuming $X$ has linear fundamental group, i.e., there exists an almost faithful representation $\pi_1(X)\to {\rm GL}_N(\mathbb{C})$. We deduce the conjecture by proving a stronger $L^2$ vanishing theorem: for the universal cover $\widetilde{X}$ of such $X$, its $L^2$-Dolbeaut cohomology $H_{(2)}^{n,q}(\widetilde{X})=0$ for $q\neq 0$. The main ingredients of the proof are techniques from the linear Shafarevich conjecture along with some analytic methods.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a complex manifold, and let $Y$ and $D$ be two reduced simple-normal-crossing (snc) divisors on $X$ with no common irreducible components. Given a proper locally Kähler morphism $\pi \colon X \to \Delta$ from $X$ to a complex analytic space $\Delta$, we prove Fujino's conjecture on the injectivity theorem in the relative setting in a generalized form. Specifically, we establish an injectivity result for the higher direct images under $\pi$ for the lc pairs $(X, D)$ as well as $(Y, D_Y)$, where $D_Y := D \cap Y$. As an application, this result immediately implies the injectivity theorem on holomorphically convex Kähler manifolds with reduced snc divisors. The main technique in the proof consists of the theory of harmonic integrals together with residue formulae associated with adjoint ideal sheaves, which are developed from our previous work for the absolute case (where $\Delta$ is a point and $X$ is compact). Additionally, we make use of the Takegoshi harmonic forms to deal with the non-compactness of $X$.

Abstract:Let $L$ be an even indefinite lattice. We show that if $L$ splits off a hyperbolic plane and a scaled hyperbolic plane, then the Kudla-Millson lift of genus $1$ associated to $L$ is injective. Our result includes as special cases all previously known injectivity results on the whole space of elliptic cusp forms available in the literature. In particular, we also consider the Funke-Millson twist of the lift. Further, we provide geometric applications on locally symmetric spaces of orthogonal type.

Abstract:Given a proper holomorphic surjective morphism $f:X\rightarrow Y$ from a compact Kähler manifold to a compact Kähler manifold, and a Nakano semipositive holomorphic vector bundle $E$ on $X$, we prove Kollár type vanishing theorems on cohomologies with coefficients in $R^qf_\ast(\omega_X(E))\otimes F$, where $F$ is a $k$-positive vector bundle on $Y$. The main inputs in the proof are the deep results on the Nakano semipositivity of the higher direct images due to Berndtsson and Mourougane-Takayama, and an $L^2$-Dolbeault resolution of the higher direct image sheaf $R^qf_\ast(\omega_X(E))$, which is of interest in itself.

Abstract:In this paper, we first show that Kollár's injectivity theorem on cohomologies holds for projective generalised pairs with mild singularities when the nef part of the generalised pair is b-abundant. Moreover, by applying the methods from complex analytic geometry, we show that the injectivity theorem holds for generalised Kawamata log terminal (g-klt) generalised pairs on projective surfaces without any extra conditions on the nef parts of the generalised pairs.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new concept of $L^2$-extension indices. This index is a function that gives the minimum constant with respect to the $L^2$-estimate of an Ohsawa--Takegoshi-type extension at each point. By using this notion, we propose a new way to study the positivity of curvature. We prove that there is an equivalence between how sharp the $L^2$-extension is and how positive the curvature is. New examples of sharper $L^2$-extensions are also systematically given. As applications, we use the $L^2$-extension index to study Prékopa-type theorems and to study the positivity of a certain direct image sheaf. We also provide new characterizations of pluriharmonicity and curvature flatness.

The abstract result will be applied to the study of the existence of solutions of the strongly indefinite partial differential systems. Abstract:Although Ornstein's nonestimate entails the impossibility to control in general all the $L^1$-norm of derivatives of a function by the $L^1$-norm of a constant coefficient homogeneous vector differential operator, the corresponding endpoint Sobolev inequality has been known to hold in many cases: the gradient of scalar functions (Gagliardo and Nirenberg), the deformation operator (Korn-Sobolev inequality by M.J. Strauss), and the Hodge complex (Bourgain and Brezis). The class of differential operators for which estimates holds can be characterized by a cancelling condition. The proof of the estimates rely on a duality estimate for $L^1$-vector fields lying in the kernel of a cocancelling differential operator, combined with classical linear algebra and harmonic analysis techniques. This characterization unifies classes of known Sobolev inequalities and extends to fractional Sobolev and Hardy inequalities. A similar weaker condition introduced by Raiţă characterizes the operators for which there is an $L^\infty$-estimate on lower-order derivatives.
