Abstract:A class of N-parameter Gaussian processes are introduced, which are more general than the N-parameter Wiener process. The definition of the set generated by exceptional oscillations of a class of these processes is given, and then the Hausdorff dimension of this set is defined. The Hausdorff dimensions of these processes are studied and an exact representative for them is given, which is similar to that for the two-parameter Wiener process by Zacharie (2001). Moreover, the time set considered is a hyperrect angle which is more general than a hyper-square used by Zacharie (2001). For this more general case, a Fernique-type inequality is established and then using this inequality and the Slepian lemma, a Lévy’s continuity modulus theorem is shown. Independence of increments is required for showing the representative of the Hausdorff dimension by Zacharie (2001). This property is absent for the processes introduced here, so we have to find a different way.

In this paper, we shall consider the exact Hausdorff measures for the image and graph sets of the d -dimensional iterated Brownian motion X ( t ), where X ( t ) = ( X 1 ( t ),…, X d ( t )) and X 1 ( t ),…, X d ( t ) are d independent copies of Y ( t ) = W ( B ( t )). In particular, for any Borel set Q ⊆ (0, ∞), the exact Hausdorff measures of the image X ( Q ) = { X ( t ): t ∈ Q } and the graph Gr X ( Q ) = {( t, X ( t )): t ∈ Q } are established.

Abstract:We establish a uniform Hausdorff dimension result for the inverse image sets of real-valued strictly $\alpha $-stable Lévy processes with $1< \alpha \le 2$. This extends a theorem of Kaufman [11] for Brownian motion. Our method is different from that of [11] and depends on covering principles for Markov processes.

Abstract:For the superior limit of the incremental supremum of the 2-parameter Wiener process, there have already been very general results corresponding to that of 1-parameter Wiener process. However, the research on the inferior limit seems not to be deeply made up to now. This paper aims at getting a theorem about this problem under weaker conditions. And a conclusion corresponding to one-parameter case leads to a kind of generalization of the existing result.

The properties of space and time anisotropy of X and their connections to uniform Hausdorff dimension results are discussed. It is shown that in general the uniform Hausdorff dimension result does not hold for the image sets of a space-anisotropic Gaussian random field X . When X is an ( N , d )-Gaussian random field as in (1), where X 1 ,..., X d are independent copies of a real valued, centered Gaussian random field X 0 which is anisotropic in the time variable. We establish uniform Hausdorff dimension results for the image sets of X . These results extend the corresponding results on one-dimensional Brownian motion, fractional Brownian motion and the Brownian sheet.

Abstract:We show that for certain Gaussian random processes and fields X:R^N to R^d, D_q(mu_X) = min{d, D_q(mu)/alpha} a.s. for an index alpha which depends on Holder properties and strong local nondeterminism of X, where q>1, where D_q denotes generalized q-dimension and where mu_X is the image of the measure mu under X. In particular this holds for index-alpha fractional Brownian motion, for fractional Riesz-Bessel motions and for certain infinity scale fractional Brownian motions.

Abstract:Let be a centered space-time anisotropic Gaussian random field in with stationary increments, where the components are independent but distributed differently. Under certain conditions, we not only give the Hausdorff dimension of the graph sets of X in the asymmetric metric in the recurrent case, but also determine the exact Hausdorff measure functions of the graph sets of X in the transient and recurrent cases, respectively. Moreover, we establish a uniform Hausdorff dimension result for the image sets of X . Our results extend the corresponding results on fractional Brownian motion and space or time anisotropic Gaussian random fields.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove uniform Hausdorff and packing dimension results for the images of a large family of Markov processes. The main tools are the two covering principles in Xiao (In Fractal Geometry and Applications: A Jubilee of Benoit Mandelbrot, Part 2 (2004) 261-338 Amer. Math. Soc.). As applications, uniform Hausdorff and packing dimension results for certain classes of Levy processes, stable jump diffusions and non-symmetric stable-type processes are obtained.

Abstract:Let $X=\{X(t),t\in\mathbb{R}^N\}$ be a random field with values in $\mathbb{R}^d$. For any finite Borel measure $\mu$ and analytic set $E\subset\mathbb{R}^N$, the Hausdorff and packing dimensions of the image measure $\mu_X$ and image set $X(E)$ are determined under certain mild conditions. These results are applicable to Gaussian random fields, self-similar stable random fields with stationary increments, real harmonizable fractional Lévy fields and the Rosenblatt process.

Abstract:In this article we aim to investigate the Hausdorff dimension of the set of points $x \in [0,1)$ such that for any $r\in\mathbb{N},$ \begin{align*} a_{n+1}(x)a_{n+2}(x)\cdots a_{n+r}(x)\geq e^{\tau(x)(h(x)+\cdots+h(T^{n-1}(x)))} {align*} holds for infinitely many $n\in\mathbb{N},$ where $h$ and $\tau$ are positive continuous functions, $T$ is the Gauss map and $a_n(x)$ denote the $n$th partial quotient of $x$ in its continued fraction expansion. By appropriate choices of $r$, $\tau(x)$ snd $h(x)$ we obtain the classical Jarník-Besicovitch Theorem as well as more recent results by Wang-Wu-Xu, Wang-Wu, Huang-Wu-Xu and Hussain-Kleinbock-Wadleigh-Wang.

Abstract:The Hausdorff dimensions of some refined irregular sets associated with β -expansions are determined for any β > 1. More precisely, Hausdorff dimensions of the sets {x ∈[ 0,1):lim_n →∞S_n (x,β )n = α _1 ,limsup_n →∞S_n (x,β )n = α _2 }, α _1 ,α _2 ⩾ 0 are obtained completely, where S n ( x , β ) = Σ k = 1 n ε k ( x , β ) denotes the sum of the first n digits of the β -expansion of x . As an application, we present another concise proof of that the set of points x ∈ [0, 1) satisfying lim_n →∞S_n (x,β )n does not exist is of full Hausdorff dimension.
