Abstract:A new pipe rupture valve for hydraulic elevator is designed. Mathematical models established for the hydraulic elevator system are used in numerical simulations on the Simulink environment of Matlab kits. The effects of different viscous damping diameters, inlet pressures of pipe rupture valve, and elevator loads on the hydraulic elevator system’s dynamic performance are analyzed. Experimental research is also carried out using a hydraulic elevator experiment rig. The numerical simulations accord with experimental results in general. Dynamic performance indexes are assessed by the EN81-2 standard. The results show that the newly designed pipe rupture valve meets the designing requirement for hydraulic elevators.

Abstract:Faced to the technical solutions on corruption, cavity failure and liq uid-proof under high pressure, this paper briefs the operation principle, struct ure and materials selection of the self-made pilot operated water hydraulic valv e, and analyses the factors influenced on pilot operated water hydraulic valve t hrough experimental researches and test of its static characteristics and steady pressure-flow features. Along with these findings, the static characteristics o f this valve have proved the requirements under 14MPa of rated operation pressur e can be met.

Abstract:A pipe burst hydraulic model of water distribution system was developed which involved the pressure dependent demand model and the information from supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA) aiming at the problems including the pipe burst detection and location. The model utilizes the minimum head error to estimate the water loss at the bursting point. This model was applied to analyze a real pipe burst event at a certain city. The loss estimation agreed with the on-the-spot investigation well. Meanwhile the water distribution system state was solved both before and after the burst event, and the result showed that 2/3 area was affected by the pipe bursting event. The monitored result from SCADA showed that the differential pressure increased around the bursting point, and it decreased at the reverse direction of the bursting point. The results demonstrate that the change of the monitored differential pressure or the hydraulic gradient is vital for identifying the burst location.
Study on Water Hydraulic Directional Valve with Plane Piston Structure

Abstract:For dealing with the serious impact generating easily by sudden reversal,an improved structure of water hydraulic directional valve was developed.When new water hydraulic directional valve was designed and manufactured,traditional space seal was changed to direct seal,and compaction force between main valve spool and main valve pocket was logically designed,damper in pilot valve port was matched with sensitive cavity in main valve.After computational fluid dynamics(CFD)approaches were applied to simulate the flow in the main valve flow passage, the structure of flow passage was optimized after analyzing the results of simulation,and static test,dynamic test and life test were carried out.The results show that the valve has fine dynamic characteristics and reverses rapidly.The impact is low when reversing and the primary components are not damaged after continuously reversing ten thousand times.The performance of the water hydraulic directional valve can achieve the level of traditional oil hydraulic directional valve.
Optimal Design and Test of High-speed Electro-pneumatic Ejector Valve

Abstract:A finite element simulation model of the high-speed electro-pneumatic ejector valve actuator was built to analyze its steady state and transient performances. Optimal design was implemented by turning the fringe part and boring the center part of the armature base on steady state finite element analysis.Comparing with the original actuator,the optimized actuator has an almost 71% reducing in the armature weight whilst without significant steady state solenoid force loss in the actuator and without significant increase in structure dimensions that it gets a considerable improvement in armature acceleration,so the response times decrease by typically 8% under different work conditions.Finally,prototype electro-pneumatic ejector valves were fabricated according to the optimized actuator model,and a test facility was also built up to obtain the valve's dynamics. The agreement between the simulation results and the experimental data proves the effectiveness of the simulation model.

Abstract:The high-speed on/off valve's dynamics according to the traditional definition is difficult to extract and to clearly trace back its physical origin. A new method,symbolized by the turning points of pressure in the control chamber,and both characterized by the delaying time of the pressure transmission and the rising time in the recharging process,was proposed to describe the traits of dynamic pneumatic valves.The mathematical models based on the valve's submodels of electromagnetic,mechanical and pneumatic transmission were obtained according to the above definitions.Some influencing factors to the valve's dynamic characteristics,such as the volume of the valve controlled chamber and the cross-section area of the valve core,were analyzed by Matlab simulation tools,and a test facility was built up to verify the simulation results.The agreement between the simulation results and the experimental data proved the effectiveness of the mathematical models and the testing system.When the ratio of length to diameter is in the range of 10 to 15,the opening and closing time delay of the valve can be easily obtained from the pressure dynamics of the valve controlled chamber.

Abstract:A new type pneumatic proportional extra-high pressure valve was developed. In this valve, pilot air is led out from the main valve's inlet, passes through pressure regulating chamber, then drains into the main valve's exhaust chamber. A proportional electro-magnet was used as pilot control component, and the control strategy used electric closed-loop feedback. The useful output pressure range is 8—25 MPa. A nonlinear mathematical model of the valve was established for analyzing the effects of the structural parameters and controller parameters on the valve's dynamic characteristics. The valve worked well under the designed pressure. Fixed parameters of the PI controller cannot meet the needs of control for both high output pressure and low output pressure. The regulating chamber volume has the most important influence on the valve's dynamic characteristics, and increasing the regulating chamber volume is the most effective solution to reduce the vibration amplitude of output pressure and improve the output pressure accuracy.

Abstract:A three-stage water hydraulic proportional pressure relief valve, with ball seat valve as the throttle control pilot stage, was investigated on the static characteristic. An AMESim model was built based on structure and mathematic analysis. The friction at spool, proportional electromagnetic actuator and steady flow force, which cause the valve hysteresis, were analyzed through simulation. The experiment results were also analyzed and compared to simulation results. The investigation shows that the large hysteresis mainly comes from flow force, hysteresis of electromagnetic actuator, and friction. Due to the static and coulomb friction and the structure of lever, the range of the input signal responding to pressure increasing section is narrower than pressure decreasing. The width of hysteresis is larger at low pressure than high pressure. For the reason of nonlinearity and large hysteresis of the valve, closed-loop control will be unstable and large oscillation may be induced. It should be improved through structure optimization or control compensation.
The CFD Analysis of Cavitation Erosion and Structural Optimization for an Unloading Valve

Abstract:The unloading valve is selected as the key part of pressure control and overload protection system in the emulsion pump station (EPS). However, severe cavitation erosion occurs on the inner wall of the valve sleeve located in a downstream outlet, which leads to the performance deterioration, instability, and even failure of the unloading valve. This paper aims to reduce the cavitation phenomenon by optimizing the structure of the spool and improving the streamline direction of the unloading valve. The change in internal structure can reduce cavitation cloud formation along with the internal mechanism of the valve. The working conditions of its flow versus time-dependent data’s are obtained by AMESim, and considered as the boundary condition in Fluent. In addition, the changes in flow behavior and input data’s are analyze and validate before the structural is optimized. After an analysis, the variations in velocities and vapor phase, indicating the higher in pressure drop at its minimum size of valve opening and further consideration for design and development stages. Two innovative structures of valve throttling spool are proposed as a simplified design stage and then carefully curved based on internal geometry to uniformly distribute the velocity vector and streamlines. Subsequently, the post-CFD results reveal the presence of factors affecting properties such as pressure loss, high velocity in the outlets, and concentrated of the vapor volume fraction are decreased under the modified throttling structure and effectively lowers the intensity of cavitation phenomenon.

Abstract:Large engineering equipment with damping system often needs to achieve that the pressure in the elastic element tracks the pressure in the actuator, which can make the system switch smoothly when the elastic element and the actuator are connected. In order to achieve this goal easily, safely and reliably, a pressure tacking valve was designed, and the corresponding mathematical model and the simulation model based on AMESim were established. The feedback link on the valve was analyzed, and the dynamic and static characteristics of the valve under the influences of the spool area, valve opening and damper damping were studied. When the spool diameter is 16 mm, the orifice diameter is 1 mm and the valve opening is zero, the pressure tracking valve has good static and dynamic characteristics of pressure tracking. The test bench was set up and the experimental research was performed. The results show that the pressure tracking error can be controlled in about 0.1 MPa and the stability of the valve is good. The elastic element and the actuator can switch smoothly in the system with the application of the pressure tracking valve.

Abstract:Internal gear pumps have significant advantages over other types of pump, such like high operating pressure, efficient transmission of energy, long service life, little pressure ripples and low noise emissions. Due to the nature of water, such as, low viscosity, poor lubricity and high vapour pressure, the performance of water hydraulic internal gear pumps is totally different from the oil ones. Using tap water as working medium, the experiments of internal gear pump are implemented and the performances are obtained. The results indicate the floating plates are the key components of water hydraulic internal gear pumps which decide the efficiency and service life of the pumps. Then, the pressing forces acting on the floating plates and the contact stresses are calculated. Finally, the causes of wear failure of floating plates are investigated and some design principles in water hydraulic internal gear pumps are also proposed.

Abstract:The fatigue rupture failure cause of the executing fork was analyzed for press off inlet valve of a piston compressor. The stress distribution of the fork piece in the maximum pressure condition was analyzed by using FEM,the movement and pressure processes of the executing fork were discussed in a circulation,the material performance and mechanical performance of the executing fork were analyzed.The cause of fatigue rupture failure was proposed.In addition,the safety of the fork piece was estimated in dynamic load action.

Abstract:As comparing with traction elevator,hydraulic elevator has larger power weight ratio and better reliability,which was suitable in low and middle story buildings.Due to the complication of structure of main control valve in hydraulic elevator,high skill for mechanic to do the installation,adjustment and maintenance work of those system was required which somewhat limited its wide ap-plication.Working principle of the hydraulic system,structure of main valve and developing trend of present some typical hydraulic el-evator were introduced,as well as the regular inspection methods and verification criterions for parameters inspected at fixed period of time as the pressure setting,flow rate characteristic and anti-downward function for the hydraulic main control valve were analyzed.The research helps improving the understanding of hydraulic elevator for technicians,then enlarges the application of hydraulic elevator.
