Abstract:The author presents in this paper the results of an analysis of Marx's theory of the original transformation of the values of commodities into prices of production. In a fragmented form, we find elements of this theory in Capital and other works of Marx. The author has highlighted the reconstruction of the table in Chapter 9 of Volume III of Capital by restoring the re-counting of profits and wages in it by adding to each particular sphere sector A, in which they produce the means of production. This reconstruction, first, made it possible to clarify the economic meaning of the two macroeconomic equations used by Marx in the transformation.Secondly, it allowed us to reconstruct the continuous mechanism of the original transformation of values into prices. This mechanism consists of two stages: the first stage is the formation of average rates of profit in separate spheres of production, consisting of two sectors of production: A (producing the means of production) and B (output of the final product). At the second stage, the general rate of profit is formed for sectors B. This process continues continuously and sets the same rate of profit in all sectors of the economy, A and B. Based on this concept of Marx, the author proposed new iterative algorithms for calculating original and equilibrium prices of production. These algorithms are implemented in Excel and tested with Wolfram Mathematica software. The author also proposed a method of inverse transformation of equilibrium production prices of commodities into their initial absolute values.

Abstract:This paper reviews Michio Morishima's solution to the transformation problem,taking the simple and extended models of Marx's value transformation as a reference framework.Using a Markov process,Morishima discusses the transformation from value to production price by means of successive input-output iterations.However,instead of selecting the necessary mathematical tools in accordance with Marxist economic theories,he tries to start from the application of mathematical tools in interpreting economic theories.Together with his indiscriminate As he indiseriminately uses the input-output analysis and general equilibrium method of Western economics,this means that he fails to see that the value transformation of input and that of output respectively already possess different natures during the observation period.This necessarily results in separating the process of producing surplus value from the process of value transformation and artificially separating the time needed for the formation of average profit in the process of reproduction from the time needed for the formation of production prices.Morishima's fallacious use of the Frobenius Theorem and the Markov Chain has not only failed to solve the transformation problem,but has led research on the subject into false paths,retarding rather than advancing the cause of upholding and developing Marxist labor value theory.

Abstract:This paper computes the values of commodities (including fixed capital) as well as production prices in China's economy. In light of Marx's transformation problem, the ratios of production prices to the values of 24 major commodities are computed. It is shown that the ratio of price to value in agriculture is the lowest, which indicates that agriculture is facing an unequal exchange of labor with other sectors.

Abstract:Recently, V. Laure van Bambeke used an original approach to solve the famous problem of transformation of values into production prices by considering that capital reallocation to each department (branch) was part of the problem. Here, we confirm the validity of this consideration in relation with the satisfaction of demand (social need which is able to pay for the given product). In contrast to V. Laure van Bambeke's method of solving an overdetermined system of equations (implying that compliance with Marx's fundamental equalities could only be approached), we show that the transformation problem is solvable from a determined (two-branch models) or an underdetermined system of equations enabling to obtain exact solutions through an algorithm we provide, with no approximation needed. For systems with three branches or more, the solution of the transformation problem belongs to an infinite ensemble, accounting for the observed high competition-driven market fluidity. Furthermore, we show that the transformation problem is solvable in the absence of fixed capital, supporting that dealing with the latter is not essential and cannot be seen as a potential flaw of the approach. Our algorithm enables simulations illustrating how the transient rise in the rate of profit predicted by the Okishio theorem is consistent with the tendency of the rate of profit to fall (TRPF) subsequent to capital reallocation, and how the TRPF is governed by the increase of organic composition, in value. We establish that the long-standing transformation problem is not such a problem since it is easily solved through our algorithm, whatever the number of branches considered. This emphasizes the high coherence of Marx's conception, and its impressive relevance regarding issues such as the TRPF, which have remained intensely debated.

Abstract:There are many misunderstandings on how to understand Marx’s labor theory of value. This theory is not a “metaphysical hypothesis” without empirical evidence, which is what many people often mistakenly believe, but the abstract theoretical summary extracted from the experience of common sense. The theory is not intended as an ethical critique of capitalism, but a scientific method to reveal the objective laws from simple commodity production to capitalist commodity production. Viewing the evolution of the economic formation of society as a process of natural history is the fundamental reason why Marx’s socialist theory is superior to other socialist theories. With the development of history, this theory has indeed encountered new problems that require convincing solutions. It should eventually die out, but it always has significant value in scientific methods.

Abstract:The fundamental reason for value to be transformed into prices of production is the capital's equal right for the pursuing of profits. The pre-requisite are the difference of capital formation, difference in the velocity of asset turnover in different sectors and the difference in the rates of profit resulting from these differences. Professor Feng Jinhua did neither consider the dynamic formation of capital, nor did he evaluate the velocity of asset turnover. Further on, he did not analyze the equalization of the rate of profit. Thus, Professor Feng Jinhua did not really enter the scientific field of the transformation problem. Take a broad scope of various views of economists on the transformation problem, we could draw the following conclusion easily that if we do not take a view at the aggregate level, the difference between production price and value does exist. Anyone with some common knowl-edge in the history of economic thought will not hold a negative view of the transform problem by equalizing pro-duction price with value.

Abstract:Since the publication of Marx’s Capital, Volume III, controversies over the labour theory of value have, broadly speaking, taken place in two parts. One has dealt with the so-called transformation problem, and aims at a clarification of the proper manner in which production-prices may be derived from values. The other has concerned itself with the demonstration of the law of value as such. In this case the argument has centered on the manner in which the quantities of labour embodied in commodities regulate their prices. It has sought to determine the circumstances under which commodities can be exchanged at value, i.e., commodities which embody the same amount of labour may be exchanged at par for one another.

Abstract:PurposeDifferent from Marx's analysis of the dialectical relationship between the production and realization of surplus value, the Okishio theorem only shows one aspect of the contradictory movement of the total social capital, that is, the reverse effect of the realization of surplus value on the production of surplus value.Design/methodology/approachThe production of surplus value and the realization of surplus value are simplified into one process. This simplification eliminates the contradiction between the production and realization of surplus value, and the antagonistic contradiction between accumulation and consumption and the antagonistic production-distribution relationship in capitalist society are naturally covered up.FindingsTherefore, it cannot explain the actual expansion way of the falling general rate of profit as the historical development law of capitalism. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the Okishio theorem places the analysis of the general rate of profit back into the social reproduction model with department equilibrium, which points out the significance of wage income to the realization of surplus value and outlines the macro mechanism of the realization of surplus value reacting to the production of surplus value. It also strongly promotes the research progress of the law that the profit rate tends to decline.Originality/valueThe mistake of the Okishio theorem is that the exchange process in the labor market forms the real wage rate. It determines the production price of wage goods, which thereby determines that the production price of capital goods and general rate of profit, the production of surplus value and realization of surplus value are simplified into the same process, and only the value that can be realized is the real value.

Abstract:The (traditional) labor theory of value, founded by Smith with the basic axiom that labor determines value, and supplemented and improved by Marx with the axiom that labor creates surplus-value. Neoclassical economics newly studied the utility theory of value, but it abandoned the traditional labor theory of value and theory of surplus-value. Under the basic axiomatic system analogous to theoretical mechanics, the above three theories of value has been included and developed by the new theory of value, which established the value complex variable function including three basic quantities of quantity, quality and time, as well as labor value, use-value and surplus-value. Starting from the value complex variable function, with the mathematical methods of Euler equation and Euler formula, this paper conduct a thorough and comprehensive analysis on the theory of value, under satisfactions of Marx’s first and second laws, focusing on value equilibrium by giving the mathematical explicit expressions of both value equilibrium function and price equilibrium function in various forms applicable to the general commodity economic movement process, so as to prove the existence and stability of the extremum solutions to the corresponding functions.

Abstract:Since the transition of relations between market participants from exchange to trade, the need to determine the value of goods has arisen. The study presents a critical assessment of the current developed theories of value. The methodological basis of the study is the scientific works of the classics of economic theory, on the basis of which conclusions are drawn regarding the chronological change of value and labour. For the purposes of the study, the following methods were used: analysis and synthesis, logical abstraction, theoretical knowledge, systematization, abstract-logical and others. It was noted that the central factor in the formation of value is a person, and the main thing is his creative idea. It is explained that modern consumption is concentrated around the need for money. In this way, the classical understanding of need as a condition of human activity in the need for money is being replaced. Such a change is enhanced by information and digital approaches and involves the introduction of full control over the use of money at the level of an individual member of society. In the pedagogical practice of teaching economic fundamental disciplines, it is necessary to make a reorientation to a broad understanding of money as an equivalent of exchange and to present a detailed and elaborate concept of Gesellian money. In the future, this will make it possible to strengthen control over the system of state regulation through public institutions.

Abstract:This article is an introduction to the main points of my recent book by the same title. As the title suggests, the book is a reexamination of the logical method employed by Marx in his theory of capitalism in Capital, especially as related to the long-standing controversy over the so-called transformation problem, according to which Marx’s theory of prices of production in Volume 3 of Capital is supposed to be logically inconsistent with this theory of value and surplus value in Volume 1. This criticism has been the main reason for rejecting Marx’s theory over the last century. My book argues that, if Marx’s logical method is correctly understood, then his theory of prices of production in Volume 3 is logically consistent, and there is no transformation problem in Marx’s theory. The book argues that there are two main aspects of Marx’s logical method that are especially relevant to the transformation problem, and I characterize these two aspects in modern economic terms as macroeconomic and monetary. The first two sections of this article discuss in turn these two main aspects of Marx’s logical method, with primary emphasis in this article on the monetary aspect because it is the most controversial. The second section on the monetary aspect argues that Marx did not fail to transform the inputs of constant capital and variable capital, as is commonly alleged, and thus there in no “transformation problem” in Marx’s theory. The following section presents an algebraic summary of this macro-monetary interpretation of Marx’s theory, and the section after that discusses a few examples of the textual evidence related to the monetary aspect of Marx’s logical method.

Abstract:Current theory of labor value regards value only as physical consumption of abstract individuals,not as the creation of human life and social relationship,so it fails to reflect the historical development of abstract labor and provide a sound explanation of the huge growth of GDP per capita.The solution to this problem is to confirm two types of existing forms of labor value,namely materialized form and humanized form.The former is the crystal of human life in commodity formed in the process of material production,and the latter which is embodied in human life is transformed from materialized value in the process of human production.Based on this assumption we can develop index models of commodity value trend and value ratio of international product prices.Therefore,it eliminates the theoretical crisis of current theory of labor value and provides a theoretical model in accordance with the real world,leading to new development space and unique charm of Marxism labor value.

Abstract:It’s the turn of the theory of price that made Western mainstream economics fell into serious theoretical absurdity , because it confused “value” with “price”, and replaced the theory of value with the theory of price, particularly, including its elusion, resistance, denial and the critique of Marx’s theory of labor value. On the one hand, it regarded the appearance as the essence, confining itself to the price appearance. It could neither reveal the essence of value nor explain what the identical quality was, which determined the equivalent quantity in the transaction of commodity. On the other hand, it only saw the object and object’s function without noticing human and human’s function. Particularly, it could not see the laborer’s function of material production , so that it blotted out the position of human and the material productive laborer as subject in the development of economy, society and history. The former was absurd in epistemology; the latter was absurd in axiology as well.

Abstract:Capital is playing an increasingly important role in China's production.And as a contributive factor it participates in the distribution.When trying to find theoretical support,some people try to revise the Marxist Labor Theory of Value while others want to thoroughly discard it.But finally they came to the same conclusion by different means that it is capital that creates value.It is a scientific theory that Labor is the only source of value.However,the inconsistency of value distribution and value creation in socialist countries is beyond Marx's expectation.Such case in China results from the development level of the productive forces and the specific historical conditions.To accept the realistic development strategy,we must adhere to the scientific theory.We should not throw away the weapons of "transforming the world" for the sake of "explaining" a temporary phenomenon.
