Abstract:A scheme of embedded IP gateway based on SOPC is proposed for wideband satellite data communication.HDLC(High-level Data Link Control Procedures)is one of the most widely used Data-Link layer protocols in satellite data communication system.A high-speed HDLC IP CORE is designed and implemented on a single chip and an embedded linux software environment is set up.Compared to common scheme,this scheme is more flexible and efficient.The throughput of this scheme is also higher.The design idea,key point and the structure of both hardware and software of the proposed scheme is presented.A prototype of this scheme is given and it is proved that this prototype has high performance.

Abstract:Digital multimedia broadcasting is available in more and more countries with various forms. One of the most successful forms is Digital Video Broadcasting for Terrestrial (DVB-T), which has been deployed in most countries of the world for years. In order to bring the digital multimedia broadcasting services to battery-powered handheld receivers in a mobile environment, Digital Video Broadcasting for Handheld (DVB-H) has been formally adopted by ETSI. More advanced and complex digital multimedia broadcasting systems are under development, for example, the next generation of DVB-T, a.k.a. DVB-T2. Current commercial DVB-T/H receivers are usually built upon dedicated application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). However, ASICs are not flexible for incoming evolved standards and less overall-area efficient since they cannot be efficiently reused and shared among different radio standards, when we integrate a DVB-T/H receiver into a mobile phone. This paper presents an example implementation of a DVB-T/H receiver on the prototype of Infineon Technologies' Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platform called MuSIC (Multiple SIMD Cores), which is a DSP-centered and accelerator-assisted architecture and aims at battery-powered mass-market handheld terminals.

Abstract:This paper introduces a Video on Demand system based on both CATV broadcasting channels and IP interactive network. CATV broadcasting channels are used for content transmission and IP network is used for control information transmission between Set Top Box and Headend Server. The control mechanism of whole system is designed and implemented according to DSM-CC protocol stacks. The paper narrates the end-to-end system diagram and VoD application software of Set Top Box. The system can be used in CATV network and provide VoD services for CATV subscribers.

Abstract:A DVB receiving chip with PCI interface for PC is presented. The chip supports DVB protocols and integrates useful interfaces, including I 2 C, SmartCard and PCI. A card with this chip could change PC into digital TV terminal. The architecture of FPGA prototype system together with some main design issues is introduced. The experimental result shows that the chip could accomplish required functionalities.

Abstract:In order to receive digital video broadcasting(DVB) program with computer,this paper presents an application specific integrated circuits(ASIC) design of DVB transport stream receiving chip based on PCI interface.Hardware-software partitioning strategy is based on real-time requirement and complexity profiles of DVB system.Data path architecture is focused on the design of high-speed channel to improve the bandwidth.Furthermore,the parameters of chaining mode direct memory access(DMA) and the depth of buffer are optimized by theory analysis.The result indicates the bandwidth of chaining mode DMA is up to 476.6 Mb/s,which is 25 times as much as original DMA strategy.The chip can enhance the ability of receiving data and has been fabricated in 0.35 μm CMOS process of Fujitsu.

Abstract:Digital Terrestrial Video Broadcasting (DVB-T) provides an ideal means for providing services with both high data rate and high mobility, which exceeds the ability of current existing access technologies like UMTS, WLAN, and so forth. Combined with other media for the uplink as a return channel for user requests and acknowledgement signaling, DVB-T can supply interactive data services. In this paper, we show the architecture of integrated Internet and DVB-T network to provide interactive broadband Internet access services for users with high mobility. In order to fully exploit the valuable broadcast resources and provide services with effective QoS differentiation, we present a bandwidth allocation algorithm SOBAM(Satisfaction Oriented Bandwidth Allocation Method) based on a new concept: user satisfaction. Simulation results prove the good performance of SOBAM, and show that with SOBAM, the integrated Internet and DVB-T network can provide a soft system capacity which is similar to the one in CDMA networks.(1)

Abstract:In this paper, we present a single-chip receiver for DVB data broadcasting system, which is designed using the methodology of hardware and software co-design. The hardware part filters out and descrambles the necessary MPEG-2 transport stream (TS) packets, then sends them to PC. Some useful peripheral functions such as PCI interface, I 2 C bus controller and smart card 7816 interface are also developed to provide a cost-effective solution. Meanwhile, multi-protocol decapsulation related to data broadcasting protocol is analyzed and implemented mainly by software. In order to improve the throughput and hardware utilization, we adopt chaining mode direct memory access (DMA) scheme and a double buffer approach both in hardware and in software. Moreover, the parameters of chaining mode DMA and the depth of buffer are further optimized by theoretical analysis. The result indicates the throughput of chaining mode DMA is up to 475.8 Mb/s, which is 24 times as much as non-chaining mode DMA strategy

Abstract:In this paper, we present a VLSI design of transport processor for an AVS HDTV decoder SoC. The design provides a flexible data flow, which supports both broadcasting service and IPTV service with DVR capability. The design is characterized by two-bus architecture, in which a RISC CPU is used for control of general purpose and some dedicated hardware for accelerating data processing. The common on-chip SRAM is used to store input transport packets and the intermediate result in order to improve system performance and reduce the area. The design is described in Verilog HDL, simulated with VCS simulator, and implemented using 0.18 mum CMOS cell library. The circuit costs about 75 k equivalent logic gates and the processing capability is up to 90 Mbps

Abstract:MPEG-4 is applied to varieties of current and future multimedia applications. The standard not only supports existed frame-based coding standards such as MPEG-1, MTEG-2 or H.263, but also provides content-based representation and flexible toolbox, which lead to MPEG-4 more complicated. This paper first briefly presents the implementation method of the video decoding of MPEG-4 Core Visual Profile, which is a subset of MPEG-4 standard. The Core Visual Profile is quite suitable to streaming video, which will possibly become the hot spot for the development of MPEG-4. Then, the paper proposes a design scheme for the basic hardware structure of the decoding system based on TMS320C6X DSP, and simply analyzes the decoding processing of the system.

Abstract:Based on the most popular and widely acknowledged framework for embedded digital video system-Davinci framework,this paper adopts Davinci technology typical processor-TMS320DM6446 as hardware platform,constructs a streaming media server.The streaming media server system can implement real-time coding,video storage,real-time supervision and remote control,which makes use of H.264,MPEG4 and AVS as video compression standard,the G.711 and G.728 as audio compression standard,the SIP as access control protocol,the RTP/RTCP/RTSP and UDP as multimedia control and transport protocol.The system has high performance and coding efficiency,low cost and delay time and hard real-time advantages,and it can affluently run in wide area network.

Abstract:Specific to audio and video data multiplexing in Broadcast and TV system, a scheme of intellectual property module based on FPGA was advanced in this paper. After introduction to the related standards, the architecture of audio and video data multiplexing IP module and design processing were introduced. Through the experimental results, it is shown that the IP module could effectively multiplex audio data to video stream and achieve audio and video synchronization. Finally, the IP module output multiplexed stream through SDI.
