Abstract:A solid professional knowledge and a strict scientific attitude are the basic guarantee for scientific research.Nowadays,many problems appear in research papers of geotechnical engineering,which affect the paper quality and lead to unreliable results.This phenomenon has great influence.It not only wasted research resources but also led up to a false,impetuous research culture.The author analyzed widespread problems from the aspects of theoretical research,experimental research and numerical analysis,and verified them by examples,which provided full understanding about these problems to students and supervisors.Furthermore,supervisors need to be stricter in instructions to improve the quality of the graduate papers.

Abstract:A process for finishing wood slatted articles of furniture, such as chairs, tables and ottomans for either indoor or outdoor use comprising the steps of dipping the article in a coating material, draining the excess coating material and then spinning the article to provide an even distribution of the coating, particularly throughout the intricately woven slats of the article. The article is subsequently dried at room temperature and then heated in an oven to cure the coating material. The coating material may be comprised of an acrylic polymer resin. The article may be dipped in various other media, such as a color stain or an exterior protective sealer depending on the finishing application desired.

Abstract:This study examines the first draft and the published version of the Discussion sections of 20 medical research articles produced by Chinese doctoral students to track the changes in Theme-Rheme structure made in the process of revision. The results show that the modifications included conjunctive adjuncts and coordinating conjunctions that were used improperly in the first drafts. Half of the projecting clauses starting with the first person pronoun “we” were changed. More than half of the long, fully lexicalized pre-subject ideational components were modified so that the topic-revealing information could be reached more quickly. Most importantly, the majority of information discontinuity, represented by deviated thematic progressions, was adjusted through revision, which greatly increased the readability of the papers. In summary, the modifications in terms of Theme-Rheme structure are prominent and contribute essentially to the readability as well as publishability of the articles. Novice ESL/EFL research writers may lack and need the knowledge of the structure even though they are advanced language learners/users. It is recommended that explicit instructions regarding the structure be incorporated in a graduate-level writing class and teacher training be performed to ensure effective instruction.
Research on the polishing process of aggregates on pavement surface on basis of mineral characteristics

Abstract:This paper investigates the behaviors of typical mineral components of the aggregates due to tire-polishing. Four kinds of granitic aggregates were polished and tested. The friction and surface texture in polishing process were monitored. The wearing behaviors of typical mineral components were analyzed by spectrum approach. It was found that a fine mineral structure for granite brings an overall high friction level. The alkali feldspars group contributes to almost constant skid resistance and these crystals experiences a unique increase on all wave lengths in the polish process. The work here may be helpful for an active design of a high friction level all through the service years for pavement surfaces. © 2011 ASCE.

Abstract:<p class="a-plus-plus">As one of the most important part of an aero-engine, blade has a critical effect on its manufacturing level. Especially, surface quality and profile accuracy of the leading and trailing edges have a direct influence on the aerodynamic performance of an aero-engine. At present, the machining methods of the leading and trailing edges are milling or grinding firstly, and then polishing by hand. This combination pattern of milling or grinding and polishing by hand has low efficiency and poor consistency. Therefore, a novel polishing technology for leading and trailing edges of blade using the flexible polishing wheel is proposed in this manuscript. Firstly, the overview of proposed novel polishing technology is presented. And then the basic principle and flexible polishing law of the flexible polishing wheel are introduced and analyzed. Finally, the verification experiments are carried out, including sample verification and blade verification. And the experiments results validate the feasibility of the proposed polishing technology. This novel polishing technology which instead of combination pattern of milling and polishing can simultaneously guarantee both profile accuracy and surface roughness, and the machining efficiency of blade edges will improve 2 times than the conventional method.</p>

Abstract:With the extensive application of optical parts in many high-tech fields such as high-power laser, space optics, and aerospace, the requirements for the surface quality of optical parts are also increasing, which requires not only high surface qualities but also low defects including low subsurface damage and strict wavefront errors. As an essential link in the precision and ultraprecision optical manufacturing, various surface polishing methods and techniques have always attracted researchers' continuous study and exploration. Considering the development of optical part surface polishing technology in recent years, this study analyzes the principle and development process of typical processing methods represented by each kind of polishing technology, expounds the specific research progress of optical part surface polishing technology, including the iterative renewal of traditional technologies and the research development of new technologies, and gives examples for typical applications. Finally, the development trend of optical part surface polishing technology is prospected, which provides a reference for follow-up intensive research in optical manufacturing.

Abstract:In order to get further study for the effect of abrasive grains to the wall of the workpiece during polishing process, a new method of discrete element that carry out the numerical simulation with DEM is put forward, and the visual calculation is performed for the abrasive grain movement in the nozzle. The interaction of particles-particles or particles-workpiece wall during the polishing process and the tracks of single grain in the workpiece are analyzed by observing the distribution of abrasive grain in the workpiece at different time. The surface removal mechanism of abrasive grains to the workpiece material is discussed by analyzing the collision process of particles to the workpiece wall. The wear level of the abrasive grains to the inner surface of the workpiece is studied through the force of abrasive grain to the workpiece wall consumption, and finally explore the cutting effect of particles to workpiece wall. As a consequence, the abrasive flow processing experiment is carried out. The surface roughness of the large hole and small hole of the nozzle are detected by stylus measurement. The conclusion shows that the surface roughness for the large hole and the small hole before the experiment is1.741 mu m and 1.201 mu m, its 0.801 mu m, 0.651 mu m after it. Further roughness tests are performed on the surface of the pores by means of a grating surface measuring instrument. The result indicates that the surface roughness reduces from 2.67 mu m to 0.697 mu m, 0.728 mu m, 0.782 mu m. Apparently, the surface roughness of the hole is sharply reduced, which has a smooth and flat inner surface, the effectiveness and reliability of the abrasive flow are verified.

Abstract:The quartz crystals processing including present situation,main problem,influential factor and development tendency were introduced.In order to solve the contradiction of quartz crystals process between efficiency and damages to surface such as scratch and crack etc.,putting forward a processing method by using semi-fixed abrasive plate to polish quartz crystal.This technology can effectively avoid damages to quartz crystals surface by big horniness grain and increase the overall efficiency.
