Abstract:It's common for newly-enrolled graduate students that they have no idea where to obtain and how to filter the mass data to what they need effectively. To help them span this dizzy situation, this paper puts forward a series of literature retrieval ways and skills in different cases and how to utilize the searched results correspondingly, based on the modern literature citation system. Moreover, taking science citation index (SCI) database as an example, this paper introduces how to search the most influential references in power electronics efficiently and analyze the results.

Abstract:Undergraduate graduation project( thesis)is a key step in the whole process of undergraduate education. Differing from the regular education,it particularly enhances the students′ability to link theory and practice and comprehensively examines their theoretic knowledge. With the great development of defense re-search,undergraduate graduation project( thesis)based on defense research project is investigated as a spe-cial case,due to its specific requirement of innovation on theory and practice. More precisely,this special kind of graduation project( thesis)is different from common ones in topic selection,organization,implemen-tation,process control,and evaluation. The paper firstly defines the undergraduate graduation project( the-sis)based on defense research project,then analyzes its advantages,and finally shows the challenges im-posed to advisors and students and relative solutions. The analysis provides a theoretic basis for the successful implementation of this kind of project(thesis).

Abstract:Integrating ideological and political education into the guidance of graduation thesis is not only an inevitable need for universities to cultivate moral character, but also an inherent need to solve the problems in graduation thesis. Through research, the author has found that there are many problems in the graduation thesis of Business English major, such as topic selection, attitude, insufficient critical thinking ability and academic misconduct. Research the training objectives of the new national standard for Business English majors and the requirements for graduation theses, and confirm that Marxist practical views must be integrated into the graduation theses of Business English majors. And corresponding measures are proposed, including reforms to the course of "Thesis Writing", hiring relevant industry and enterprise experts for guidance, participating in the review and defense, and integrating value shaping, knowledge transmission, and ability cultivation into the graduation thesis writing. Through the inspection of graduation thesis work, it is found that significant results have been achieved, such as enhancing academic integrity and cultural confidence, enhancing innovation awareness, and selecting practical topics.

Abstract:With huge amount of information emerging every day, it brings challenges to advanced undergraduate students and junior postgraduate students. Actually, those students have different levels of information literacy due to the diversity of students' backgrounds. To improve students' information literacy, this paper designs a course, which puts it into practice by a class of software engineering major. The course structure consists of three parts that aims to improve students' three abilities: learning ability, academic research ability, and innovation ability. For learning ability, multiple usages of searching engines are added to help develop their search quotient. For academic research ability, how to search in many databases and how to manage the literatures are important issues. For innovation ability, how to evaluate innovations and how to manage one's inspirations are included. These three abilities are trained by project assignment that is required in a limited time. A questionnaire is carried out to obtain the feedbacks of participants. The results shed light on that the design of our course achieves good results with high satisfaction degree. It shows that the proposed course structure is very welcome and it has promising applications in other majors.

Abstract:The study investigates whether information-seeking behavior models and theories obtained in previous research are applicable to more complex tasks. It also aims to gather students’ opinions on the importance and helpfulness of various traditional and online information sources in their thesis-writing process. This study would help to develop a better understanding of the roles and impacts of these information sources in the current networked academic infrastructure. Inspired by the Information Search Process model, we divided the process into six stages and conducted three separate surveys that covered students’ feelings, thoughts and actions, as well as other important factors that might affect their behaviors in each of the stages. Our study shows that both the feelings and thoughts of students changed during the different stages of the process, and that they were generally consistent with the descriptions in the Information Search Process model. The study indicates that it is beneficial to use the Information Search Process model as the starting point for studying the student thesis-writing processes. As the outcome of the study, we ultimately proposed a multi-stage model for Chinese undergraduate students’ thesis-writing process.
