Abstract:Diagnosis and optimal adjustment tests for pulverizing system of a 600 MW unit boiler after using mixed inferior coal as the fuel was performed,and the unit comprehensive economy before and after the adjustment were compared.The results showed that,pretty small coal particle size and insufficient coal mill output were the major factors affecting the pulverizer's capacity.After the optimization,the coal mill capacity increased from ~50 t/h to above 65 t/h,indicating the coal mill capacity was dramatically improved and the unit realized running at full load condition.Although the slag carbon content had a slight increase,the boiler efficiency decreased by 0.27% and the standard coal consumption for power generation increased by 0.9 g/(kW·h),the electricity consumption of coal pulverizing per unit reduced by 17.4% and the standard coal consumption for power supply decreased by 2.4 g/(kW·h).The total economic benefit increased obviously.
Research on 1050MW Unit Bituminous Coal Boiler Blending Baiyinhua Lignite

Abstract:High moisture and low calorific value Baiyinhua lignite was used by blending proportion about twenty-five percent to fifty percent in HP1203/Dyn coal mill of a 1050 MW unit. The experimental results showed that the coal output of mill can reach maximum to about 90t/h when the blending proportion was fifty percent. If the motor speed of dynamic separator reduced 100 rpm, the coal output of mill can reach over 95t/h during to the coal moisture and coal fineness increased. The grinding coal consumption of blending twenty-five percent to fifty percent Baiyinhua Lignite was close to the mixed coal composed by Shenhun and Kailuan at 1:1, and obviously lower than the mixed coal composed by Datong and Kailuan at 1:1 or the Ping-nine coal. With the proportion of Baiyinhua Lignite increased, boiler exhaust gas temperature decreased first and then increased. The boiler efficiency maximum was 93.93% when one of coal mill blending fifty percent of Baiyinhua lignite, and the standard coal consumption of power supply has 1.9g/k W·h reducing.In this condition, one unit can reduces power supply cost about 4.9875 million yuan every year. If the coal price of Baiyinhua lignite and other bituminous coal increased 10 yuan per ton, then the cost of procurement of coal will reduce about 1.0331 million yuan every year.

Abstract:The long-term operation with off-designed coal types brings a power plant significant safe and economic problems on its boiler operation.Aiming at solving the problem,tests are conducted to understand the operational status of the units,to analyze the coal blending problem and to optimize the combustion schemes according to the adaptability of the boiler to different coal types.The test results show that the coal blending should not only simply depend on the calorific value or the volatile contents the unit adaptability to different coal types and the influence of coal type dissimilarity on combustion characteristics should also be considered.In the new coal blending scheme,the anthracite (V~=9.23％) of Pulverizer C in phase I project is swapped with the lean coal of Pulverizer A in phase Ⅱ project,which increases the average volatile contents and reduces the coal type dissimilarity for the phase I project.After the optimization,the vibration of the pulverizer gets better.The average boiler efficiency of the units gets a 0.62 percent improvement and the average coal consumption for power generation gets a 0.65 g/(kW· h) decrease.

Abstract:According to the experiment research of anthracite coal mixed burning in boiler of Huadian Qingdao Power Generation Corporation Limited,the anthracite coal,lean coal and black coal with low-volatile matter mixed burning scheme was defined initially.The burning safety and economical efficiency of anthracite coal blended with different coals and at different blending proportion or under different mixed burning mode were comprehensively compared,and an optimized coal blending scheme was proposed,then the blended coal brand of Huadian Qingdao Power Generation Corporation Limited was formed finally.

Abstract:The safe operation of 125 MW units with hot-air conveying pulverized coal and centralized primary air is affected by the following problems such as fire-carrying in the primary air nozzle and slagging on the water-wall around burners etc. with the increasing of volatile and heat value. Generally, the pressurized cold air is added to prevent the fire-carrying, however, the exhaust gas temperature is increased by 15 ℃ or so than normal condition and the boiler efficiency reducing about 1%. Another effective way to eliminate fire-carrying is to use thick/thin phase burner to re-design the structure, with large circumferential, reducing the bluff body and adjusting the tangential of the primary incorporation. The practical application of #10 boiler in the TianShengGang Power Plant indicated that the fire-carrying problem was solved effectively without adding cold air, in spite of the volatile and heat value of the coal were somewhat increased, and the carbon fraction in fly ash and exhaust gas temperature decreased by 2.55% and 20.5 ℃ respectively, the boiler efficiency increased 2.69%. Based on this, the direct annual economic benefits will be more than 4 million, and the coal adaptability and stable combustion ability can be improved greatly.

Abstract:The rich-thin pulverized-coal combustor was applied in power plant boiler of 125MW unit to enhance the coal suitability of the boiler.After the renovation,the maximum Vdaf of suitable coal was increased from 20%-25% to 35%.The boiler could run in 55MW stably without oil.The boiler efficiency was increased by 2.29% at rating load.At the same time,because of the application of rich-thin pulverized-coal combustor,NOx emission was reduced 30% and 37% with two different coals.

Abstract:A new method is developed systematically for design calculation of furnace cross-section heat flux and furnace burner zones heat flux. It makes up for a defect in existing methods in China I which have not provided any calculation formula about furnace cross-section heat flux and furnace burner zones heat flux. The new method is based on data statistic analysis, parametric analysis and data regress of a large number of operation parameter data of 36 well running coal-fired power boilers in China. The relationship among furnace cross-section heat flux, the boiler maximum continuous rating and the comprehensive judged index of coal property as well as the relationship among furnace burner zones heat flux, the fuel volatile matter of dry ash-free basisand the judged index of coal caking property have been presented in this paper. Practical application has showed that this new method can help to raise the performance design precision of boilers and optimize the design method currently used in China.

Abstract:A 600MW supercritical direct-current (DC) utility boiler co-firing bituminous coal with lignite, has the problems from over-large desuperheating water yield in the reheater and over-high NOx emission concentration. In this paper, the causes of the problems are analyzed through, the initial tests of pulverization system and combustion system, the adjustment of combustion, etc. The results show that the combustion in furnace lagged behind to some extent after co-firing the bituminous coal with the lignite and the center of the flame was elevated, which shortened the relative distance between the flame of the main burners and over fire air(OFA), enlarged the absorbed heat amount of the reheater and reduced the residence time of flame in the reduction zone prominently. The much less residence time would increase NOx emission. Based on the calculations of the actual operation conditions of the burners, a series of improvement measures were proposed. After performing numerical simulation and cold test verification for the improvement measures, the corresponding transformations of the power plant were carried out. The desuperheating water yield in the reheater decrease, obviously, and over-high NOx emission is controlled effectively.

Abstract:The combustion optimization for the thermal power unit is a difficult problem in the boiler control.The research status of the improvement of the measurement technology,the combustion condition model and the searching optimization of output parameters at home and aboard was reviewed.It was concluded that no successful application with high performance price ratio and easy duplication feature was achieved at home.Following the breakthrough of the technologies in online coal analysis,accurate furnace temperature field measurement and oxygen content soft measurement,the boiler combustion optimization technology will be applied widely.
Optimization of Pulverized Coal Fineness on Coal-fired Power Unit

Abstract:Based on one 200 MW coal-fired power unit,the optimization of the pulverized coal-fired fineness has been studied.The influence law of pulverized coal fineness on the power unit operational performance is obtained.Results show that when the pulverized coal fineness has been decreased form 40.5 % to 25.3 %,the boiler efficiency,the electrical consumption rate,and the steel balls consumption cost rate have been increased 0.31 %,0.017 %,and 36.4 Yuan/h,respectively,the NO_x content in flue gas has been reduced 65 mg/m~3,the gross cost has been decreased 0.000 41 Yuan/(kW·h).And the temperature of the flue gas in the furnace outlet has been forecasted to decrease about 40 ℃,the slagging in the heating surfaces will be improved.This unit's optimal pulverized coal fineness R_(90) is 25.3 %.

Abstract:In the last three years in China, more than 80 units of 135MWe circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers were ordered, and about two dozens of them have been put into operation. So far, the experience and performance evaluation of the boilers with such large capacity are very limited.A series of cold and hot tests were carried out on the boiler in order to optimize the operation and provide more information to the future design. The influence of coal properties, bed material fluidization, air distribution, bed temperature and pressure drop on the boiler performance such as carbon content in fly ash was assessed and discussed.Some problems of the boiler, including the bottom ash system, milling system, abrasion of the heating surface in the furnace, refractory stability, and exhaust fuel gas temperature are reported and suggestions are given for the future improvement and design.

Abstract:Numerical simulations of combustion optimization under multi-operating modes have been performed for a 600 MW tangentially coal-fired super-critical boiler. Under rated boiler load, the computational combustion efficiency of pulverized coal of 99.5% and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission less than 400 mg/Nm(3) (6% O(2)) agree well with the experimental data. For the high combustion efficiency of pulverized coal and low NOx emission, some combustion optimization information should be conducted as follows: (1) A double V-shaped (DV) secondary air distribution mode and more under fire air (UFA) are recommended. (2) The air flow of separated over fire air (SOFA) is not less than 75% of designed value. (3) The tilting angle of SOFA burner in horizontal direction is bigger than zero degree. (4) Under the load of 450MW, the lowest four primary air burner nozzle layers are recommended to be in service. (5) Under the load of 300MW, the intermediate three primary air burner nozzle layers are recommended to be in operation.

Abstract:Because of the present ineffective method of soot blowing on a boiler’s heating surface in a coal-fired power plant, and to improve the economic benefit of the boiler in the power plant, weigh the improvement of boiler efficiency and steam loss brought by soot blowing, and ensure the safe operation of the unit, an optimization model of soot blowing on the boiler’s heating surface is established. Taking the economizer of the 300 MW coal-fired power plant unit as the research object, the measurement data and basic thermodynamic calculation data of the Distributed Control System (DCS) of the thermal power plant are used to calculate the fouling rate of the heated surface in real time. By analyzing the multi-group fouling rate under the same working conditions, the incremental distribution of the same measuring point at different times is obtained, and the expectation is obtained according to the distribution curve. The state of heating of the heated surface at a time in the future is predicted by the known initial cleaning state. By analyzing the trend of the fouling rate and combining the soot blowing optimization model, a set of soot blowing optimization strategies are proposed. The method proposed in this manuscript can be applied to the guidance of boiler soot blowing operation.

Abstract:The mechanism of NO_(x) formation during coal combustion and Low-NO_(x) combustion technology adopted by utility boiler are introduced.The experimental research on a 670 t/h boiler is carried out in view of the influences of furnace outlet oxygen,primary air velocity,secondary air distribution,coal feeding for burner groups,primary air/coal ratio etc.on NO_(x) emission,combustibles in fly ash and reheated steam temperature,it can be known that horizontal bias coal/air combustion technology can reduce NO_(x) emission remarkably,and optimal operation mode of boiler is determined.The results show that combustion optimization is an effective way to improve economy of boiler operation and reduce NO_(x) emission.

Abstract:Due to that the practically fired coal of the boiler deviates greatly from the designed coal grade,the efficiency of the W-shape flame boiler of the 660 MW unit in a power plant is lower.Aiming at this problem,the combustion optimized adjustment experiment was carried out.As first step,the F damper was regulated to balance the oxygen distribution in the outlet of the coal economizer.Then,starting from the main factors influencing on the operational economical efficiency of the boiler,combining with the features of the boiler,the influences of the load variation,the second air flow variation,the coal quality variation and the open degrees of C damper on the boiler efficiency were analyzed;and a rational operating condition was proposed.

Abstract:Optimized adjustment of coal pulverizing system has important meaning to security and economy operation of coal-fired units Boiler. In order to improve the safety and economy of coal pulverizing system, an optimized experiment was conducted on coal pulverizing system of one 1000MW ultra-supercritical boiler unit in some power plant. Based on ra-tional particle size and uniformity exponent of pulverized coal, the effects of rotation speed of ventilation quantity, oil-charged pressure, mill output and classifier speed on energy saving of coal pulverizing system and combustion character-istics of boiler were studied. The results have a contribution to realize economy operation of coal pulverizing system. The ad-justment method of coal pulverizing system in this power plant is worth applying and recommending.

Abstract:The power grid needs to rapidly modify its power output to counterbalance the variable nature of new energy generation. This necessitates enhanced deep-peaking capabilities in coal-fired boilers. This research investigates the CO2 emission evolution in a 330 MW tangentially fired pulverized coal boiler under varying loads, secondary air distributions, and coal blending to elucidate the CO2 emission evolution dynamics of coal-fired boilers. A comprehensive three-dimensional model of the gas-solid two-phase flow in the furnace, coupled with the coal-firing chemical reactions, is established. Finally, a novel carbon accounting method is proposed, which enhances the accuracy of carbon emission results under various conditions. Results indicate that as the load decreases, combustion becomes progressively less complete. At a 30% load reduction, carbon conversion into CO2 is minimized, and the amounts of CO and unburned carbon in the fly ash peak. Using equal air distribution and layering coal blending—inferior in layers A, B, and C; general in D; and superior in E—across five burners enhances CO2 production under low-load conditions. Consequently, the levels of CO and unburned carbon in the fly ash are reduced. These research findings serve as a reference for precise accounting of boiler carbon emissions.
