Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the reliability and validity of Chinese Version of the Depressive Experiences Questionnaire using the two widely used scoring methods of the DEQ in order to identify which one would be applicable in Chinese sample.Methods:640 participants completed Chinese version of the DEQ(DEQ-C),the Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale(CES-D),and the Mood and Anxiety Symptom Questionnaire(MASQ).The internal consistency and test-retest reliability over 4 weeks were examined.The principal component analysis and correlation analyses were performed to examine the validity.Results:From the original factor weighting method,the scores in males were higher than the ones of females;The Cronbach alpha in three subscales were 0.65 to 0.77 in males,and 0.68 to 0.72 in females;The test-retest reliability were 0.59 to 0.64 in males,and 0.58 to 0.75 in females.From the unit weighting method,The Cronbach alpha in three subscales were 0.73 to 0.85 in males,and 0.69～0.85 in females;The test-retest reliability were 0.55 to 0.80 in males,and 0.67 to 0.73 in females.The factor structure was generally replicated in current Chinese sample though there was a difference in the order of the first three factors compared to the original sample,but no items to be misclassified as other subscales of the DEQ-C.The first three factors could explain 26.9% of total variance in male and 25.5% in female.The correlation analyses with the CES-D,and the MASQ-D suggested that the DEQ-C have good content validity(r=0.34~0.43,P<0.01).Correlations between each subscale using the factor weighting method supported Blatt's theoretical framework,while the unit weighting method failed to present this feature.Conclusion:The results showed that the DEQ-C is appropriate for evaluating depression-prone personality in Chinese college students.The original factor weighting scoring method exhibited an acceptable reliability and good validity,and is more applicable in Chinese sample.
