Abstract:对谏壁电厂 7号机 (18kV ,30 0MW )更换线棒进行了多因子加速老化试验 ,在线棒的不同老化阶段进行了局部放电和超声波声速试验。试验发现 ,局部放电平均值是反映绝缘缺陷最好的参数 ,在局部放电统计参数中 ,放电平均值相位分布的偏斜度最能反映绝缘的老化程度。超声波声速试验的结果显示出 ,超声波声速可以表征发电机定子绝缘老化状态 ;随着线棒老化时间增长 ,其超声波声速明显降低。两项试验结果一致地表明 ,绝缘老化是由于其内部出现了微观缺陷

Abstract:In recent years, online condition monitoring methods have gained popularity for their ability to predict latent insulation failure in electrical machines. Most of the existing methods are based on leakage current measurement. While neutral-voltage-based methods were firstly introduced for transformer monitoring, recent research has explored their application to electrical machines. However, the process of selecting the most suitable method for specific condition monitoring requirements remains ambiguous. This aricle offers a comprehensive comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, grounded in a theoretical analysis of the stator windingmodel. Sensitivities to various insulation aging problems are also studied, considering signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) to determine the most suitable features for monitoring different aging issues. Additionally, a novel phase-to-ground insulation aging monitoring method is introduced, which accounts for the aging position along the winding. This method is based on the common-mode impedance spectrum and offers the benefit of reducing sensor bandwidth requirements when compared to existing methods. This research contributes to the refinement of condition monitoring for electrical machines, enabling more precise and efficient early detection of insulation aging problems.

Abstract:An ultrasonic pulse-echo method was put forward to diagnose insulation condition of generator stator bars. Based on this method, a statistical minimal velocity, a statistical average velocity, and an attenuation coefficient of ultrasonic longitudinal waves propagated in stator insulation were measured, and a statistical defect rate were measured also. Three sets of stator bars in-service for 16, 18 and 23 year periods respectively in three generators (300MW, 18kV) and a new stator bar were tested in laboratory, several stator windings in a generator were also tested to examine the on-site testing capability of this method. The experimental results indicated that statistical minimal velocity and statistical average velocity decrease with insulation in-service time, the decrease of statistical minimal velocity is larger than that of statistical average velocity, and that statistical defect rate measured on sever-aged insulation is greater. The on-site ultrasonic testing results demonstrated that two velocity parameters are measured practically in the condition of generator light maintenance. It is effective and practical to use ultrasonic pulse-echo method for insulation condition diagnosis of generator stator bars.

Abstract:To improve the accuracy of the stator winding fault diagnosis in induction motor, a new diagnostic method based on the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) was proposed. The ratio of fundamental zero sequence voltage to positive sequence voltage after switch-off was selected as the stator fault characteristic, which could effectively avoid the influence of the supply unbalance and the load fluctuation, and directly represent the asymmetry in the stator. Using the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based on HHT, the zero sequence voltage after switch-off was decomposed and the fundamental component was extracted. Then, the fault characteristic can be acquired. Experimental results on a 4-kW induction motor demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.

Abstract:Inverter-fed machines are widely used in industrial applications. In inverter-fed machines, the insulation ageing is accelerated due to the high dv/dt and transient overvoltage. Therefore, it is necessary to develop effective online monitoring methods for stator winding insulation to ensure the reliable operation of inverter-fed machines. In this article, a novel nonintrusive online monitoring method is proposed to monitor the stator insulation, which can be used to give alarms for the potential failures. The proposed method measures the phase-to-ground voltages and leakage currents to calculate the capacitance of the insulation using multifrequency information. Compared to the existing monitoring methods, the proposed method is the first method, which can monitor the phase-to-phase (PP) and groundwall (GW) insulation capacitance separately. It largely improves the sensitivity on the PP insulation monitoring and realizes the GW insulation monitoring in the same time. The proposed method is validated on an inverter-fed machine in the lab. Online and offline results are compared to validate the proposed method. The simulated insulation ageing experiment shows that the proposed method can detect incipient insulation ageing with high sensitivity.

Abstract:Research on the modeling and fault diagnosis of rotor eccentricities has been conducted during the past two decades. A variety of diagnostic theories and methods have been proposed based on different mechanisms, and there are reviews following either one type of electric machines or one type of eccentricity. Nonetheless, the research routes of modeling and diagnosis are common, regardless of machine or eccentricity types. This article tends to review all the possible modeling and diagnostic approaches for all common types of electric machines with eccentricities and provide suggestions on future research roadmap. The paper indicates that a reliable low-cost non-intrusive real-time online visualized diagnostic method is the trend. Observer-based diagnostic strategies are thought promising for the continued research.

Abstract:Monitoring the health of large synchronous Machines is now an integral part of their operation. The stator inter-turn short circuit fault is one of the serious fault and have a deep influence on the safety and effectiveness of the machine. This paper describes an online monitoring method with no sensor required to predict these two faults of synchronous condenser before they propagate to a level that can leading to catastrophic failure. The paper develops an analytical model for the online fault predicting by only knowing the stator and field current, and the detailed 2D FEA models will also be built to take the core saturation and leakage magnetic field into consideration. Finally, the method will be validated by experimental results.

Abstract:The condition monitoring technique for stator winding insulation in inverter-fed motors has gained significant attention, though current methods relying on high-sensitivity current sensors for minor current signals pose limitations, particularly for larger motors. In contrast, voltage measurement offers heightened reliability. To address this, a quasi-online methodology capitalizing on the switching transient voltage response is proposed, thereby circumventing the necessity for current sensors and exclusively employing voltage sensors. This approach entails the inverter’s injection of surge voltage excitation into the stator winding, followed by the measurement of voltage responses at the terminals of the other two phase windings. Importantly, this technique enables the automatic identification of stator insulation condition during motor standstill, providing a non-intrusive and easily implementable solution compatible with existing motors.

Abstract:Online condition monitoring of winding insulation has been proved to be an effective means to improve the reliability of an inverter-fed machine, but little work has been done on the insulation of line-end coil subjected to much higher transient voltage stress with a higher risk of premature insulation break down. In this article, the inverter self-excited high-frequency switching oscillations are utilized for the line-end coil insulation condition monitoring. To improve the condition monitoring sensitivity and its robustness to dynamic operating conditions, a switching oscillation mode decomposition method is proposed. First, the condition-sensitive mode, i.e., high-frequency common-mode (HFCM) current is selected and separated by the variation mode decomposition algorithm among three dominant modes in switching oscillation current. Then, the amplitude-frequency features of HFCM current are extracted for condition monitoring. Finally, the overall insulation condition of three-phase line-end coils and the degree of asymmetric degradation are quantitatively evaluated by the frequency and amplitude features respectively. Experimental work was carried out and the results demonstrate the good performance of high sensitivity, good robustness, and non-contract safety.

Abstract:The design and setting of main protection for large-sized generator and extra-high voltage transformer aren't sufficiently based on the scientific simulation of stator winding internal faults at home and aboard. In most cases, the designers work on the project only by their own judgment and experience, along with outdated technology materials. The main protection design for generator and transformer should be quantitative and scientific after the internal faults simulation software has passed the State verification. The impedance protection isn't suitable for short-range backup protection for the winding faults of the large-sized generator and transformer. The specific status that the zero-sequence differential protection is seldom adopted at the stator winding of extra-high voltage transformer ought to be modified in China.

Abstract:Large condenser (300Mvar) has the possibility of inter-turn short-circuit in stator windings. Absence of protection against inter-turn short-circuit will be a serious threat for the safe operation of the condenser. Using the Multi-Loop analysis method, internal fault analysis and optimization design of main protection scheme are carried out for two kinds of condenser with different cooling modes. The analysis shows that different main protection schemes should be selected according to the difference in the number of branches per phase of the large condenser. Compared with the main protection scheme based on traditional electromagnetic current transformer, the complete or incomplete split phase transverse differential protection based on flexible optical current transformer will completely solve the problem of imperfect stator winding inter-turn short-circuit protection for large turbo-generator. And the new scheme has very small influence on the generator design and manufacture, thus guaranteeing the safe operation of generators.

Abstract:The typical partial discharge in stator windings insulation ofgenerators has been experimental studied by a new detecting method in this paper. According to the experimental results, the n-mV feature figures are apparently different corresponding to the different partial discharge types, and it was also proved the new detecting method can work perfectly even though there are noise from the outside of generators. The results reveal that the new detecting method is suitable for online monitoring of insulation faulty in generators, and it is possible to distinguish the partial discharge types using artificial intelligence.

Abstract:The excitation system with a multi-phase annular brushless exciter (MPABE) is widely used in large-capacity nuclear power plants. It is of great significance to realize a reliable protection of the exciter for safe operation. Since the MPABE is adopted with rotary armature structure, the rotor winding short-circuit (RWSC) fault is very difficult to be diagnosed directly. However, it is an effective way to realize fault diagnosis through the characteristics reflected in the stator field winding. In this paper, based on the mutual induction relationship between stator current and rotor current, detailed theoretical analysis of the RWSC fault is conducted and the harmonic characteristics of the stator field current are obtained. Then, related experiments and simulations are carried out, verifying the correctness of the theoretical analysis. Finally, a diagnosis method based on the transient harmonic characteristics of the stator field current is proposed and its sensitivity is also analyzed. The diagnosis method proposed in this paper is simple and feasible, which helps to improve the safety and reliability of the MPABE system in nuclear power plants.

Abstract:To assess the remaining life of large generator stator insulation effectually, lots of stator bars from three 300MW generators, which had been in-service for 16, 18 and 23 year periods respectively, were tested to diagnose the insulation condition. The measured parameters included statistical minimum ultrasonic velocity Vmin, statistical average ultrasonic velocity Vav, dissipation factor tip-up ?tanδ, change of capacitance ?C/C0, maximum discharge magnitude qmax and mean discharge magnitude qmean. With linear regression analysis A compared investigation of the correlation between Vmin, Vav and time in service y?was compared with that between ?tanδ, ?C/C0, qmax, qmean and y? respectively. The results showed that a significant correlation was evinced between Vmin, Vav and y?, that a most slight correlation between ?tanδ、qmax, qmean and y?, and that no definite correlation between ?C/C0 and y?. Vmin and Vav were of more accuracy than ?tanδ、qmax, qmean and ?C/C0 to assess stator insulation. A second-order and a third-order mathematic models were built to describe the relationships of Vmin, Vav with y?respectively. Based on the two models, predicted methods were proposed to assess the most reliable and the 95% reliable remaining life of stator insulation respectively.

Abstract:Real-time assessment of ground-wall (GW) insulation condition is critical for the reliable operation of inverter-fed motors (IFMs) and many online monitoring methods have been proposed. However, the existing methods can only detect the overall insulation degradation condition, the refined assessment of degradation position is rarely reported. In this article, a diversified assessment method is proposed that can identify the severity, position, and phase of GW insulation degradation by using the transient characteristics of leakage current. A stator winding insulation model is established to analyze the relationship between leakage current and GW insulation in IFMs. After the theoretical analysis, the common-mode harmonic and differential-mode harmonic of leakage current are utilized to identify the severity and position of GW insulation degradation, respectively. Moreover, the initial oscillation amplitude of the leakage current is used to assess the degradation phase of GW insulation. The proposed method is validated on a 3-kW permanent magnet synchronous motor driven by a two-level inverter, and the experimental results are consistent with theoretical analysis.
