Abstract:A novel coupling reaction of diaryl methanols with ketones or aldehydes has been developed under the catalysis of AlCl3. Various ketones and aldehydes could couple with 9H-xanthen-9-ol smoothly, affording coupling products in 48% -88% yields. A plausible mechanism using AlCl3 to activate both diaryl methanol and ketone or aldehyde is proposed.

Abstract:A series of epoxide compounds catalyzed by TMSCl are synthesized by Darzens condensation reaction of aldehydes and α-bromo ketones in the presence of Mg and ethanol.The structure of the products are characterized by IR,1HNMR and 13CNMR.The reaction has the advantage of simple working-up procedure,mild reaction conditions,excellent yields and meets the requirements of green chemistry.

Abstract:Direct functionalizations of two distinct inert C–H bonds represent the most ideal ways to construct C–C bonds. Herein, we report an intermolecular vinylation of aldehydes using alkenes as the vinylating reagents through sequential two-fold C–H functionalizations. The merging of visible light and N-heterocyclic carbene catalysis allows for the coupling of alkenes with aldehydes through a dual catalysis relay enabled cross-dehydrogenative coupling mechanism. Abstract:A highly efficient method for the synthesis of tri-aryl-substituted allenes has been developed through Cu(I)-catalyzed coupling of diaryldiazomethanes with terminal alkynes. The reaction is under mild conditions and uses simple and inexpensive CuI as the catalyst. Mechanistically, the reaction follows a pathway involving Cu(I) carbene migratory insertion.
Acetalization of Aldehydes (ketones) with Diols Catalyzed by Brnsted Acidic Ionic Liquids

Abstract:The acetalization of aldehydes or ketones with diols to the corresponding 1,3-d iox olane derivatives was performed at room temperature in the absence of any organi c solvent and dehydration agent by using different acidic ionic liquids as cata lysts, including HMImBF4, HeMImBF4, BMImH2PO4, BMImHSO4, H2SO4 and H3PO4. Amon g these acids, the Brnsted acidic ionic liquid BMImH2PO4 showed the best catalytic performance. The conversion depended on the properties of the substrates in this reaction. The easier the nucleophilic addition of diol s to aldehydes/ketones was, the higher conversion it gave. During the reaction p rocess the removal of water produced was unnecessary. After the reaction the de sired product 1,3-dioxolane derivatives could be isolated from the reaction sys tem automatically, and the after-treatment was convenient. The acidic ionic liq uid could be reused directly without dehydration for at least 10 times.
