Abstract:A new flavonoid, 6-(2-hydroxy-5-carboxyphenyl)-apigenin (1), together with two new natural products, 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-6,7-dihydroxy coumarin (2), 1-methoxy-3-methylanthraquinone (3) and four known compounds, were isolated from Selaginella tamariscina (BEAUV.) SPRING. The structures of the new isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR as well as ESI-HR-MS spectroscopic analysis.

Abstract:A new indole alkaloidal glucoside together with three known compounds aurantiamide acetate (2), eleutheroside E (3) and 1-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) has been isolated from ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Clematis terniflora DC. On the basis of their spectroscopic and chemical evidence, the new compound was elucidated as (6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-1H-indol-3-yl) carboxylic acid methyl ester (1). Compounds 1 and 3 showed significant cytotoxicity against human ECA-109.

Abstract:A new selaginellin named selaginellin O (1), along with three other known selaginellins (2-4) were isolated from Selaginella tamariscina (Beauv.) Spring. On the basis of spectroscopic analysis, the structure of selaginellin O was demonstrated to be 4-[(4'-hydroxy-4-formyl-3-((4-hydroxyphenyl)ethynyl)biphenyl-2-yl)(4-hydroxyphenyl)methylene]cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-one. Compound 1, 2 and 3 exhibited appreciable cytotoxic activity against cultured HeLa cells (human cervical carcinoma cells), as well as significant antioxidant activity.

Abstract:Objective To determine the chemical constituents in Selaginella tamariscina.Methods The constituents were isolated and purified by NMR and IR methods.Their structures were identified on the basis of spectral data and chemical properties.Results Six compounds were isolated and elucidated as heveaflavone(1),selaginellin(2),selaginellin A(3),amentoflavone(4),heptadecanoic acid(5),and β-sitostol(6),respectively.Conclusion Compound 2 has been isolated from Selaginella tamariscina for the first time.

Abstract:One new biflavonoid was isolated from the 60 % ethanol extract of the dried whole herbs of Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring. On the basis of physio-chemical properties and spectral (mainly 1 D and 2 D NMR) data, the structure of the new biflavonoid was established as 2′′, 3′′-dihydrorobustaflavone 4′-methyl ether (4). Along with the new biflavonoid, three known compounds robustaflavone (1), robustaflavone 4′-methyl ether (2) and tetrahydrorobustaflavone (3), were isolated. Compounds 2 and 3 were isolated from Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring for the first time.

Abstract:The present study is to investigate the chemical constituents of the whole plants of Selaginella uncinata. A new flavonoid was isolated from the 75% ethanol extract of Selaginella uncinata by column chromatographies over macroporous resin, silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and prep-HPLC. The structure was elucidated as 8-[4-(carboxyl)phenoxy]-5,4'-dihydroxy-7-methoxyflavanone (1) and named unciflacone G.

Abstract:Six new flavonoids, unciflavones A–F (1–6), have been isolated from medicinal plant Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring. Their structures were established on the basis of extensive NMR analysis including 1D NMR (1H, 13C and DEPT) and 2D NMR (COSY, HSQC, HMBC) experiments as well as HRESIMS analysis. All compounds possess exceptional structural features with an aryl substituent at the C-8 position, which are uncommonly encountered in natural resources and firstly reported in genus Selaginella.

Abstract:Two new anthraquinone derivatives, selaginones A (1) and B (2), and one new triarylbenzophenone analog, selagibenzophenone B (3), were isolated from Selaginella tamariscina (Beauv.) Spring. Their structures were established by 1D-, 2D-NMR and HR-ESI-MS data. Compounds 1 and 2 represent the uncommon examples of aryl substituted anthraquinone derivatives. Especially, compound 2 is a unique anthranone with exceptional structural feature, in which a p-hydroxyphenyl moiety is attached to the C-10 position. Compound 3 is the second naturally occurring triarylbenzophenone and showed moderate activity against SMCC-7721 and MHCC97-H cell lines with IC50 values of 39.8, 51.5μm respectively.

Abstract:A new flavonoid, 6-(5-acetyl-2-methoxyphenyl)-apigenin (1), together with nine known compounds (210), was isolated from Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring. This is the first report of the spectroscopic data of compound 3. Compound 2 was first reported from this species. The structure of the new compound was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence, including 1D and 2D NMR as well as HR-EI-MS analysis.

Abstract:Objective To study the flavonoids and phenolic constituents from Selaginella uncinata(Desv.) Spring.Methods 60% ethanol extract of the Selaginella uncinata(Desv.) Spring was extracted by the ethyl acetate and n-butanol.The compounds were isolated by means of chromatography on silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 column,ODS column,and preparative RP-HPLC from the ethyl acetate extract.The structures of the compounds were identified by spectroscopic analysis.Results Four phenolic compounds were isolated as(2S) 2,3-dihydroisocryptomerin(I),apigenin(II),3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxypropiophenone(III) and ferulic acid(IV).Conclusion Compounds III and IV were obtained from the genus for the first time,and compounds I and II were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Chemical investigation of the leaves and roots of Selaginella moellendorfii Hieron has resulted in the isolation and characterization of two new flavone glucosides, 7-O-(beta-glucopyranosyl(1 -> 2)-[beta-glucopyranosyl(1 -> 6)]-beta-glucopyranosyl)flavone-3',4',5,7-tetraol (1) and 7-O-(beta-glucopyranosyl(1 -> 2)-[beta-glucopyranosyl(1 -> 6)]-beta-glucopyranosyl)flavone-4',5,7-triol (2), two new biflavonoids, 2,3-dihydroflavone- 5,7,4'-triol-(3' -> 8 ")-flavone-5 ",6 ",7 ", 4"'-tetraol (3) and 6-methylflavone-5,7,4'-triol-(3' -> O -> 4"')-6 "-methylflavone-5 ", 7 "-diol (4), two new lignans, (7'E)-3,5,3',5'-tetramethoxy-8 : 4'-oxyneolign-7'-ene-4,9,9'-triol (5) and 3,3'-dimethoxylign-8'-ene-4,4',9-triol (6), together with two known monolignans, four known lignans, and four known biflavonoids. Their structures were established by spectroscopic means and by comparison with literature values.

Abstract:Objective: To study the constituents of Salsola collina. Methods: The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by various chromatographic methods and their structures were elucidated by analyses of spectral data and physicochemical properties. Results: Three compounds were isolated and identified as tricin-7-O-β-D-apiosyl (1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside (I), tianshic acid (II) , and n-hentriacontanol(III). Conclusion: Compound I is a new compound named collinoside, compound II is isolated from S. collina for the first time.

Abstract:Two new robustaflavones, (±)-trichocladabiflavone A (1) and uncinatabiflavone E (2), along with seven known biflavanoids (3–9) were isolated from the 70% EtOH extract of Selaginella trichoclada. Their structures and absolute configurations were established by extensive spectroscopic and circular dichroism (CD) analyses. Compound 1 was resoluted into optically pure enantiomers (+)-1 and (−)-1 by chiral-phase HPLC. Moreover, compounds 1 and 2 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity against A549 and HepG2 human cancer cell lines.
