Abstract:A convenient method has been developed for the preparation of a variety of 1,3-benzothiazole-2(3H)-thiones. The reaction proceeds from an o-haloaniline derivative and carbon disulfide in the presence of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene at 80-140 degrees C to give the corresponding 1,3-benzothiazole-2(3H)-thione derivatives in good-to-excellent yields.

Abstract:Several aromatic aldehydes and sodium bisulfite were mixed to prepare hydroxyl sulfonates,which were added to o-phenylenediamine or substituted o-phenylenediamine in refluxing ethanol to afford 2-substi-tuted benzimidazoles through oxidation by air directly.One of the fifteen synthesized compounds,2-(4-chlorophyenyl)-6-methoxyl-1H-benzimidazole has not been reported.All the compounds were identified by IR,1H NMR spectra and elemental analysis.The method is simple,mild,eco-friendly and requires no catalyst.

Abstract:An efficient, economical, and convenient method was developed for the preparation of 2-substituted (N, O, C) benzothiazoles from N'-substituted-N-(2-halophenyl)thioureas, O'-substituted-N-(2-halophenyl) carbamothioates, or N-(2-halophenyl) thioamides via a base-promoted cyclization in dioxane without any transition metal. A one-pot variant combining the synthesis of the thiourea and the cyclization was also demonstrated. High yields were obtained, and a variety of functional groups were tolerated under these conditions. Transition-metal-free, mild reactive conditions, wide application scope, and shorter reaction times make this method superior to the reported methods for the synthesis of 2-substituted benzothiazoles and suitable for combinatorial format.

Abstract:An expeditious method to access 2-aminobenzoxazoles and 2-aminobenzothiazoles from various substituted 2-aminophenols and 2-aminothiophenols, respectively, with isoselenocyanates in a one pot procedure is reported. Elemental Se precipitates nearly quantitatively in the reaction without any deselenizing agent and it can be reused. A possible mechanism for the formation of the target products is proposed.

Abstract:We have developed an efficient method for the synthesis of benzimidazoles via cascade reactions of o-haloacetoanilide derivatives with amidine hydrochlorides. The protocol uses 10 mol % CuBr as the catalyst, Cs2CO3 as the base, and DMSO as the solvent, and no ligand is required. The procedure proceeds via the sequential coupling of o-haloacetoanilide derivatives with amidines, hydrolysis of the intermediates (amides), and intramolecular cyclization with the loss of NH3 to give 2-substituted 1H-benzimidazoles.

Abstract:Comprehensive Summary A convenient approach for the construction of 2‐aminobenzothiazoles via I2‐catalyzed tandem cyclization reaction of amines and carbon disulfide has been developed. The present approach starts from simple and readily available starting materials, affording a series of 2‐aminobenzothiazoles in up to 89% yields under metal‐free conditions. Abstract:Abstract Benzothiazole derivatives are essential intermediates in synthesizing a wide variety of medical and pharmaceutical compounds, and there is a great demand for a simple and efficient method to synthesize benzothiazoles under mild reaction conditions. Organic electrosynthesis as an energy-efficient process represents an environmentally benign and safer method than traditional methods for organic synthesis. Herein, we present bromine-free and straightforward synthesis of 2-amino benzothiazole derivatives via the reaction of aniline derivatives and ammonium thiocyanate using electrosynthesis in the presence of sodium bromide both as an electrolyte and as a brominating agent at room temperature in isopropyl alcohol (i-PrOH) as a solvent. The reaction of ammonium thiocyanate via C–H thiolation routes, using various aniline derivatives, resulted in a simple, green, and bromine-free synthesis of 2-amino benzothiazole in moderate to good yields under mild reaction conditions. Riluzole drug can be produced using the same procedure in moderate yields.

Abstract:Organic sulfides play a crucial role in drug discovery and organic synthesis. The construction of C-S bonds usually requires strong basic conditions, transition metal catalysis, or stoichiometric oxidizing /reducing agents. Herein, we report an electrochemically driven C-S radical-radical cross coupling for the synthesis of benzylic thioethers. This approach is applicable to various benzyl halides and disulfides, providing corresponding benzylic thioethers in moderate to excellent yields. The reaction can be conducted at room temperature in air without the need for transition metals, external reducing agents, or sacrificial anodes, making it an environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and mild synthetic strategy.

Abstract:A practical synthetic method for the generation of benzosultams via an intramolecular sp(2) C-H bond amination reaction of o-arylbenzenesulfonamides with PhI(OAc)2-I2 under metal-free conditions is developed. A broad range of substrates are tolerated under mild reaction conditions, affording bioactive benzosultams in good to excellent yields. The resulting benzothiazines could be conveniently transformed into their corresponding iodinated derivatives via electrophilic substitution reactions.

Abstract:A convenient method has been developed for the preparation of a variety of 2-mercaptobenzothiazoles from 2-haloanilines and CS2 mediated by metal sulfide. In this reaction, 2-haloanilines reacted with CS2 in the presence of Na(2)S9H(2)O to form 2-mercaptobenzothiazoles. Na(2)S9H(2)O functioned both as an activator of CS2 and as a base. Furthermore, NMR analysis was used to identify the different reaction mechanisms of 2-haloanilines and CS2 mediated by Na2S or 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU), which demonstrated that Na2S interacted only with CS2, while DBU reacted with both 2-iodoaniline and CS2.
