Abstract:A simple method to synthesize diverse sulfonyl chlorides through NaClO2-mediated oxidative chlorosulfonation of S-alkyl isothiourea salts is presented. The approach features safe operation, environmental friendliness, convenient purification procedures, and delivers high yields of up to 96%. The procedure is also applicable to substrates such as thiols, disulfides, thioacetates, and xanthates. It is a versatile and convenient method for the synthesis of various sulfonyl chlorides from different thiol precursors and derivatives.

Abstract:A simple procedure for clean and economic synthesis of alkanesulfonyl chlorides via bleach-mediated oxidative chlorosulfonation of S-alkyl isothiourea salts is disclosed. This procedure is environment-and worker-friendly with the advantages of readily accessible materials and reagents, simple and safe operations, easy purification without chromatography, and affords high yields of up to 99%.

Abstract:A catalyst-free sulfonylation reaction of activated alkenes with sulfonyl hydrazides was efficiently developed under mild and environmentally benign conditions, in water without any ligand or additive. The reaction gave a range of structurally diverse monosubstituted ethyl sulfones with excellent yields, in which the by-product was nitrogen.

Abstract:A simple and efficient method to synthesize N-chloro-N-sulfonylsulfinamides by the direct aminoxidation of arenethiols under aqueous and mild conditions is disclosed, geminally installing the oxo and amino groups on the sulfur atom of arenethiols. The products have been primarily developed as sulfinylation reagents to convert Grignard reagents into sulfoxides, and as amination reagents to convert secondary amines into hydrazine derivatives.

Abstract:A transition-metal-free approach to synthesize unsymmetrical disulfides is reported that relies on a K2CO3-promoted one-pot reaction of thiosulfonates, thiourea and alkyl halides under mild conditions. The protocol tolerates a wide range of substrates, leading to various types of unsymmetrical disulfides in moderate to excellent yields. More importantly, the late-stage modification of natural products and drug molecules was also achieved.

Abstract:Bifunctionalized sulfonium ylides - sulfonium acyl sulfonylmethylides - were directly and efficiently prepared from various acetylenic sulfones and aliphatic sulfoxides under heating conditions. The current method features short reaction time, low cost, readily available starting materials, convenient operation, and purification, providing an efficient access to widely applied bifunctionalized sulfonium ylides.

Abstract:Trisulfide unit is widely found in natural products and has garnered attention due to the unique pharmacological and physiochemical properties. However, despite limited progress, widely applicable approaches for constructing unsymmetrical trisulfides have so far remain scarce. In this work, an easy-to-prepare, solid-state and scalable reagent, S-substituted sulphenylthiosulphate, has been developed for the divergent synthesis of unsymmetrical trisulfides. Alkyl electrophile substrates, including bromides, chlorides, iodides and tosylates, with diverse substituents are smoothly converted to the corresponding trisulfides with S-substituted sulphenylthiosulphates and thiourea as another sulfur source. Furthermore, the late-stage modification of drug molecules was successfully achieved through this method.

Abstract:A mild, efficient and practical protocol for the preparation of 2-sulfonylquinolines through CS2/Et2NH-induced deoxygenative C2-H sulfonylation of quinoline N-oxides with readily available RSO2Cl was developed. The reaction proceeded well under transition-metal-free conditions and exhibited a wide substrate scope and functional group tolerance. The preliminary studies suggested that the nucleophilic sulfonyl sources were generated in situ via the reaction of CS2, Et2NH and sulfonyl chlorides.
