Abstract:Catalytic enantioselective conjugate additions with easily accessible alkenylboronic acid pinacol esters as nucleophiles promoted by chiral copper complexes of N-heterocyclic carbenes are presented. These processes constitute an unprecedented instance of conjugate additions of a variety of functionalized alkenyl groups and afford desired products that are otherwise difficult to access in up to 98% yield and 99.5:0.5 enantiomeric ratio. The origins of ligand-controlled enantioselectivity are elucidated with density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Abstract:A catalytic enantioselective conjugate addition with commercially available allenylboronic acid pinacol ester as nucleophile promoted by a chiral copper complex of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) is disclosed. This process constitutes an unprecedented instance of the conjugate addition that introduces an allenyl group into α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, affording products that are otherwise difficult to access in up to 92% yield, >98% allenyl addition selectivity and 96:4 enantiomeric ratio. DFT calculations were performed to elucidate the origins of enantioselectivity.

Abstract:This communication reports copper-catalyzed N-H olefination of sulfonamides for enaminone synthesis using saturated ketones as olefin sources. With TEMPO derivatives and O2 as oxidants, this method provided an efficient way to produce various enaminones in good yields. Mechanistic studies helped figure out the stable intermediates and develop novel methodologies for the difunctionalization of saturated ketones.

Abstract:A general catalytic enantioselective method that can produce five-, six-, and seven-membered N-heterocycles possessing various ketone moieties starting from stable and easily available cyclic hemiaminals and ketones was developed. The method involves three successive steps in one pot (aldol addition, dehydration, and enantioselective intramolecular aza-Michael reaction), all of which are promoted by a chiral copper(I)-conjugated Brønsted base catalyst. This method is useful for rapid access to versatile chiral building blocks for the synthesis of drug-lead alkaloids.

Abstract:Copper-catalyzed and highly chemoselective reduction of N-alkynylamides by a boron addition-protonolysis protocol is presented. The reaction proceeds with the addition of boryl-copper complex to N-alkynylamides with high regioselectivity and stereoselectivity, followed by regiocontrolled trans-metallation of the alpha-site of the alkenylboronate with MeOCuL to afford N-alkenylamides in good yields. Deuterium labeling experiments indicated that both of the alkenyl hydrogen atoms originate from the additive methanol.

Abstract:A novel one-pot synthesis of ,-unsaturated methyl ketone/nitro compounds from benzylic amines through an oxidation-aldol/Henry reaction is reported. The reaction proceeded well by using MCPBA as oxidant and CuCl(2)2H2O as catalyst. A variety of functionalized ,-unsaturated methyl ketone/nitro compounds were assembled in moderate yields by application of this catalytic one-pot reaction.

Abstract:A general asymmetric deconstructive alkynylation of cyclic oximes with terminal alkynes was reported using copper/chiral cinchona alkaloid-based N,N,P-ligand catalysts and used to produce more than 60 examples of enantioenriched γ- and δ-alkynyl nitriles in a highly functional group-compatible manner. A wide variety of low-cost terminal alkynes and easily available cyclic oximes with substituent diversity were found to be well tolerated with the current asymmetric transformation with good functional group tolerance. Abstract:Copper(II)-mediated unprecedented intermolecular radical [3+2] annulation of N,N-dimethyl enaminones has been developed. The protocol is promoted simply by copper(II) chloride to access 5-acyl-3-furancarboxaldehydes with acceptable to good yields and broad substrate scope. This reaction allows the formation of multiple new bonds, including C(sp2)−O bond between two nucleophilic sites, C(sp2)−C(sp2) bond and C=O bond, through a radical cyclization process. Moreover, gram-synthesis and application research show the potential application value of this transformation in industry.
