Abstract:Sequential C-H bond addition with two different coupling partners is a powerful method for the rapid and modular construction of complex molecules based on simple starting materials. Herein, an efficient ruthenium-catalysed multicomponent long-range C-H functionalization of 2H -imidazoles was developed. This protocol showed good substrate suitability and yielded alkyl arylation products with potential biological activity. Abstract:Transition-metal-catalyzed directed C-H functionalization has emerged as a powerful and straightforward tool to construct C-C bonds and C-N bonds. Among these processes, the intramolecular annulative alkene hydroarylation reaction has received much attention because this intramolecular annulation can produce more complex and high value-added structural motifs found in numerous natural products and bioactive molecules. Despite remarkable progress, these annulative protocols developed to date remain limited to hydroarylation and functionalization of one side of alkenes, thus largely limiting the structural diversity and complexity. Herein, we developed a rhodium(iii)-catalyzed tandem annulative arylation/amidation reaction of aromatic tethered alkenes to deliver a variety of 2,3-dihydro-3-benzofuranmethanamine derivatives bearing an all-carbon quaternary stereo center by employing 3-substituted 1,4,2-dioxazol-5-ones as an amidating reagent to capture the transient C(sp(3))-Rh intermediate. Notably, by simply changing the directing group, a second, unsymmetrical ortho C-H amidation/annulation can be achieved to provide tricyclic dihydrofuro[3,2-f]quinazolinones in good yields.

Abstract:Herein, we present a ruthenium-catalyzed new hydrogen evolution ortho-aminoalkylation of phenolic derivatives with cyclic amines as the coupling agents. The developed cross-coupling reaction offers a practical platform for direct access to a variety of functionalized phenols with the features of good substrate and functional group compatibility, readily available catalyst system and feedstocks, no need for additional sacrificial oxidants, and high atom efficiency.

Abstract:An environmentally-friendly and facile protocol for the construction of tetrasubstituted alkenes has been established with Ru(ii)-catalyzed C-H bond functionalizations under mild conditions. The method features the usage of readily available substrates, without external oxidants and additives, 100% atom economy, and excellent regioselectivity, thus enhancing the practicability of this protocol. Moreover, this transformation proceeded smoothly under aqueous conditions and could be extended to the gram scale. N-Methoxyamide, as a directing group (DG), played a vital role in the transformation.
