Abstract:A silver-catalyzed Minisci-type reaction is reported here. Alkylation of electron-deficient N-heterocycles is achieved in aqueous solution through decarboxylative cross-coupling of aliphatic acids and N-heteroarenes in open air without external Bronsted acid. Selectfluor is used as a mild oxidant. Different substituents on heterocycles and acids are tolerated. Primary and secondary alkyl could be introduced efficiently into the heteroarenes.

Abstract:A silver-catalyzed Minisci-type acylation reaction is reported here. Acylation of electron-deficient N-heterocycles is achieved in aqueous solution through dehydrogenation cross-coupling of aldehydes and N-heteroarenes in open air without external Brønsted acid. Selectfluor® is used as a mild oxidant. This method has been successfully employed in acylation of a variety of N-heteroarenes with aldehydes. This strategy provides an efficient and mild method for acylation of N-heteroarenes.

Abstract:The difunctionalization of terminal alkynes was achieved with silver fluoride (AgF) and N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) as halogen sources. The presence of the halide moiety greatly enhances the reactivity of the vinyl fluoride compounds that can probably can be transformed into various products that are difficult or even impossible to obtain via direct fluorination. Meanwhile, the monofluoro <.> alkenes were facilely synthesized via a highly chemo- and regioselective fluorination of electron-deficient C C triple bonds using AgF as fluorinating reagent in good yields.

Abstract:A systematic study has been given to the Ag(I)-catalyzed decarboxylative fluorination of the carboxylic acid with Selectfluor using density functional theory (DFT). It is proposed that the catalytic cycle consists of five steps, namely the formation of the H2O-ligated Ag-carboxylate, oxidation, homolytic cleavage of the O-Ag(II) bond, decarboxylation (loss of CO2) and fluorine abstraction. It is the formation of the H2O-ligated Ag-carboxylate-rather than that of Ag(II)-F or Ag(III)-F intermediate that initiates the fluorodecarboxylation. As for the rate-determining step, there exist two possibilities: (i) the formation of the H2O-ligated Ag-carboxylate and its oxidation by Selectfluor; (ii) decarboxylation (loss of CO2), and which one is dominant depends on the structure of the substrate. Abstract:The oxidative C–H aryloxydifluoromethylation and arylthiodifluoromethylation of heteroaromatic compounds through the decarboxylation of easily accessible aryloxydifluoroacetic acids and arylthiodifluoroacetic acids, respectively, are disclosed. Abstract:A cobalt-catalyzed aminofluorination reaction of styrenes with N-fluorosulfonamides serving as both the amination and fluorination agents has been developed. The switch of selectivity in this catalytic reaction from aminofluorination to diamination could be easily achieved by the addition of 1.0 equiv of PPh3. Abstract:The reactivity of carbamoyl radicals, generated in situ from sodium oxamate salts, has been investigated in the context of radical carbofluorination reactions of olefins and a‐fluoroolefins, respectively. Both transformations are catalyzed by silver salts and required the presence of potassium persulfate (K2S2O8) and SelectfluorTM as a radicophilic fluorine source. The reported methods provide a direct access to beta‐fluoroamides and beta,beta‐difluoroamides.

Abstract:An efficient nickel-catalyzed Heck-type reaction between styrenes and fluoroalkyl iodine has been developed. This novel transformation has demonstrated a broad substrate scope, mild reaction conditions and excellent E-stereoselectivity. This efficient synthetic method has been applied to the late-stage monofluoroacetation of biologically active molecules. Mechanistic investigations indicate that a monofluoroalkyl radical is involved in the catalytic cycle.
