Abstract:A new copper(I)-catalyzed cycloetherification followed by an acid-catalyzed allylic nucleophilic substitution have been developed for the one-pot synthesis of 2-substituted benzofurans. This one-pot reaction proceeds efficiently under extremely mild conditions with simple and inexpensive catalysts, providing diversely substituted benzofurans in good to excellent yields.

Abstract:The in situ formed furan-fused cyclobutenes via Cu(I)-catalyzed cycloisomerization of readily available allenyl ketones bearing a cyclopropyl moiety are a highly reactive and powerful species, which undergo annulative fragmentation with terminal ynones to afford a wide variety of functional furans in moderate to high yields. Abstract:2-Vinylbenzofurans have been synthesized via the copper-catalyzed one-pot, three-component reactions of o-iodophenols, in situ generated allenes, and dichloromethane. Abstract:A highly regio- and stereoselctive palladium-catalyzed domino reaction of functionalized aryl allyl ethers has been developed. Various aryl allyl ethers derived from the phosphine-catalyzed addition of electron-deficient allenes with phenol are found to be efficient substrates for the synthesis of 2-substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans and indolines. It is the first example of aryl allyl ether used as an ideal and practical precursor of hard to get functionalized 1,3-butadiene for the heterocyclic compound synthesis.

Abstract:A one-pot rhodium-catalyzed C–H functionalization/organocatalyzed oxa-Michael addition cascade reaction has been developed. This methodology enables the stereodivergent synthesis of diverse 2,3-disubstituted dihydrobenzofurans with broad functional group compatibility in good yields with high levels of stereoselectivity under exceptionally mild conditions. The full complement of stereoisomers of chiral 2,3-disubstituted dihydrobenzofurans and 3,4-disubstituted isochromans could be accessed at will by appropriate permutations of the two chiral catalysts. Abstract:A palladium‐catalyzed cyclization and thiocarbonylation reaction has been disclosed for the synthesis of thioesters‐containing benzofurans. By using S‐aryl thioformates as efficient and convenient thioester surrogates, a variety of thioesters‐functionalized benzofurans are formed in moderate to excellent yields with very good functional group tolerance. This protocol features mild reaction conditions, broad substrate scope, and no manipulation of toxic CO gas and odorous thiols.
