Abstract:An efficient method for the synthesis of isoquinolinone derivatives via photopromoted carboamination of alkynes is developed. Starting from the readily available propargyl alcohol derivatives, the polycyclic isoquinolinone derivatives could be obtained with good aryl and heterocycle tolerance. Both terminal and alkyl substituted alkynes could be employed. This protocol is operationally easy, and easily conducted on a gram-scale. A possible mechanism involving radical addition and cyclization following aromatization was proposed.

Abstract:Herein a metal-free approach for the synthesis of isoquinolone derivatives by means of photoinitiated deaminative [4+2] annulation of alkynes and N-amidepyridinium salts is described. This protocol exhibits a broad scope and good functional group tolerance and regioselectivity under benign reaction conditions. Preliminary studies suggest that the critical amide radical is derived from the photocatalytic cleavage of the N-N bond of the N-amidepyridinium salt, which adds to the triple bond of the alkyne and undergoes the annulation process to afford the desired isoquinolones.

Abstract:A facile and efficient method for the synthesis of novel 2-substituted 4-tosyl-4,5-dihydrooxazolo[5,4-c]isoquinolines from 4-diazoisoquinolin-3-ones and nitriles is reported. The reaction proceeded through a TfOH-promoted formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition and the products could be conveniently converted to 2-aryloxazolo[5,4-c]isoquinolines and the subsequent 2-(oxazolo[5,4-c]isoquinolin-2-yl)phenol which emitted bright green light in dilute dichloromethane solution and in solid form as well. Simple operation, metal-free and mild reaction conditions, short reaction time and broad substrate scope are the prominent features of this methodology.

Abstract:A practical approach for the synthesis of tetracyclic pyrroloquinazolines using photoredox strategy has been developed. The visible-light-promoted intramolecular single-electron-transfer process between photocatalyst and N-(2-iodobenzyl)-N-acylcyana-mides is considered to be involved in this transformation. Targeted pyrroloquinazoline derivatives (15 examples) are presented in good isolated yields (30%-88%).

Abstract:An environmental benign protocol of visible-light-induced reaction has been developed. The methodology allows effective synthesis of 4(3H)-quinazolinones from 2-benzylaminobenzamides in simple and mild reaction conditions. Just irradiation with a blue LED light at room temperature, the reaction proceeds well to provide the corresponding quinazolinones in good to high yields under metal-free, photocatalyst-free and mediator-free conditions. This protocol is demonstrated by its wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, operationally simple, and gram-scale reaction. Mechanism studies suggest that a radical pathway might be involved in current reaction.

Abstract:A visible-light-induced radical cyclization reaction of o-vinylaryl isocyanides and oxime esters to access various 2,4-disubstituted quinolines was disclosed. Oxime esters were employed as acyl radical precursors via the carbon−carbon bond cleavage. It provided an effective way for the synthesis of 2-acyl-4-arlysubstituted quinolines under mild conditions and exhibited good functional group tolerance and substrate applicability.

Abstract:A novel strategy for the synthesis of quinolin-2(1H)-one and its related derivatives is described. The light-induced Zn-catalyzed isomerization of quinoline-N-oxides proceeds smoothly to afford 2-quinolinones in satisfactory to high yields. Control experiments and computational studies demonstrate that this photochemical isomerization reaction proceeds through an intramolecular hydrogen and oxygen transfer reaction, ensuring 100% atomic economy.

Abstract:Catalytic intramolecular C-H amination and aziridination reactions of o-allylphenyl azidoformates have been achieved under visible-light irradiation, providing a mild, clean, and efficient method for the synthesis of useful benzoxazolones and [5.1.0] bicyclic aziridines. Mechanistic studies suggest that a triplet nitrene acts as the reactive intermediate. The chemoselectivity of the reaction, with alkyl olefin aziridination ≫ electron deficient olefin aziridination ≈ C(sp2)-H amination ≫ C(sp3)-H amination was observed, which may be instructive in the development of an understanding of visible-light-induced triplet nitrene transformation reactions.

Abstract:A new method for the Bischler-Napieralski-type synthesis of 3,4-dihydroisoquinolines was developed by a Tf2O-promoted tandem annulation from phenylethanols and nitriles.
