Abstract:Promoted by CuCl/CCl4, a variety of sulfonyl azides and tertiary amines were successfully coupled to give sulfonyl amidine derivatives in good to excellent yields. A possible mechanism for this reaction is discussed.

Abstract:An efficient protocol for the synthesis of sulfonamides via the electrochemical oxidative amination of sodium sulfinates has been developed. The chemistry proceeds in a simple undivided cell employing a substoichiometric amount of NH4I that serves both as a redox catalyst and a supporting electrolyte; in this manner additional conducting salt is not required. A wide range of substrates, including aliphatic or aromatic secondary and primary amines, as well as aqueous ammonia, proved to be compatible with the protocol. Scale-up was possible, thereby demonstrating the practicality of the approach. The electrolytic process avoids the utilization of external oxidants or corrosive molecular iodine and therefore represents an environmentally benign means by which to achieve the transformation.

Abstract:NBS or NIS mediated direct SN bond formation between azoles and sodium sulfinates is described. The reaction shows good substrate scope and tolerates a wide range of functionalities in both azoles and sodium sulfinate substrates. Abstract:By using O-benzoyl hydroxylamines as amine sources, the first convenient copper-catalyzed electrophilic amination of sodium sulfinates has been realized. Even with 2 mol% catalyst loading, the protocol provided an efficient and straightforward synthesis of a broad range of functional sulfonamides under ambient reaction conditions without an additional base and ligand. Based on the control experiments, a plausible mechanism was proposed.

Abstract:NH-Sulfonimidamides are prepared by copper-catalyzed coupling of primary sulfinamides with secondary amines. Neither a ligand nor an additive is needed, and air is the terminal oxidant. The reactions occur at room temperature, show good functional group tolerance, and lead to products in good yields. A sulfanenitrile is proposed as an intermediate in this oxidative amination.

Abstract:Herein we demonstrate the solvent-free mechanochemical approach involving a one-pot-double-steps procedure mediated by solid sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl*5H2O) for sulfonamide synthesis. The protocol entails a tandem oxidation-chlorination reaction on disulfides in the presence of a catalytic solid acid species, followed by an ammination prompted by a Lewis acid base solid inorganic reagent. The methodology works smoothly with aromatic and aliphatic disulfides and amines. The purification process pays due attention to environmental concerns and avoids harsh conditions to obtain pure sulfonamide products. Some relevant biologically active compounds have been prepared with this procedure.

Abstract:A new and convenient procedure was developed for the preparation of sulfonamides and sulfonic esters using N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide(NFSI) as a novel phenylsulfonyl group transfer reagent. In this protocol, a broad range of functional groups were tolerated to give the corresponding sulfonamides or sulfonic esters in moderate to excellent yields. The synthetic strategy for sulfonamides formation proceeded efficiently even under base-, metal- and additive-free conditions with the advantages of operational simplicity, mild reaction conditions as well as short reac-tion time.

Abstract:Sulfonamides, especially primary aryl sulfonamides are very important scaffolds not only because of the wide applications as pharmacophores in drugs, but also the derivatization for other sulfonamides and different sulfur-containing compounds. Among the aryl sulfonamides, most syntheses of electron-rich (hetero)aryl sulfonamides are still severely limited by the classic chlorosulfonation or oxidative chlorination reactions with significant drawbacks. In this work, by the proposed and unique tert-butyl sulfonylcarbamate intermediate generated in situ from easily accessed tert-butyl chlorosulfonylcarbamate and diisopropylethylamine, a catalyst-free, mild and very pratical aminosulfonylation protocol for a wide scope of electron-rich (hetero)arene substrates with good to excellent yields was reported.

Abstract:A mild and efficient protocol for sulfonylation of 8‐aminoquinolines, naphthylamides and anilides with sodium sulfinates by anodic oxidation at room temperature was developed. In the absence of any additional catalyst and oxidant, a series of sulfonylated products were achieved in good to excellent yields. This proposal features good water tolerance, excellent selectivity and broad functional group compatibility. An efficient protocol for sulfonylation of N‐arylamides/amine with sulfinate salts has been developed via anodic oxidation at room temperature in an undivided cell.
