Abstract:In this paper, based on the theory of variable exponent Sobolev space, we study a class of nonlinear elliptic equations with principal part having degenerate coercivity and obtain some existence and regularity results for the solutions.

Abstract:A doubly degenerate parabolic equation in non-divergent form with variable growth is investigated in this paper. In suitable spaces, we prove the existence of weak solutions of the equation for cases $1\leq m < 2$ and $m\geq 2$ in different ways. And we establish the non-expansion of support of the solution for the problem.

Abstract:For any subcritical index of regularity s > 3/2, we prove the almost global well posedness for the 2-dimensional semilinear wave equation with the cubic nonlinearity in the derivatives, when the initial data are small in the Sobolev space H s × H s−1 with certain angular regularity. The lifespan is known to be sharp in general. The main new ingredient in the proof is an endpoint version of the generalized Strichartz estimates in the space . In the last section, we also consider the general semilinear wave equations with the spatial dimension n ≥ 2 and the order of nonlinearity p ≥ 3.

Abstract:We consider a class of variable-exponent mixed fully nonlinear local and nonlocal degenerate elliptic equations, which degenerate along the set of critical points, $C:=\big\{x:\,Du(x)=0\big\}.$ Under general conditions, first, we establish the Lipschitz regularity of solutions using the Ishii-Lions viscosity method when the order of the fractional Laplacian, $s\in\big(\frac{1}{2},1\big).$ Due to inapplicability of comparison principle for the equations under consideration, one can not use the classical Perron's method for the existence of a solution. However, using the Lipschitz estimates established in theorem and vanishing viscosity method, we get the existence of solution. We further prove interior $C^{1,\delta}$ regularity of the viscosity solutions using an improvement of the flatness technique when $s$ is close enough to $1.$

Abstract:The authors of this article study the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions of the initial-boundary value problem for ut=div((|u|σ+d0)|∇u|p(x,t)−2∇u)+f(x,t)(0<σ<2).. They apply the method of parabolic regularization and Galerkin's method to prove the existence of solutions to the mentioned problem and then prove the uniqueness of the weak solution by arguing by contradiction. Abstract:The aim of this paper is to study the existence and extinction of weak solutions of the initial and boundary value problem for ut=div((|u|σ(x,t)+d0)|∇u|p(x,t)−2∇u)+f(x,t,u). First, the authors apply the method of parabolic regularization and Galerkin’s method to prove the existence of solutions to the problem mentioned and then obtain the comparison principle by arguing by contradiction. Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions of a nonlinear elliptic equation with a variable exponent, a monotonic type operator and a convection term. With the topological degree theory, we prove the existence of at least one weak solution under some Leray-Lions and growth conditions. Moreover, we obtain the uniqueness of the solution of the problem under some additional assumptions. Our results generalize and improve existing results with another approach.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the following singular quasilinear equation, where , $0<\beta <n$ , and f has critical exponential growth at infinity. We establish a compactness lemma for functional and develop some delicate analyses to deal with non-standard difficulties caused by singular term and the compactness issue. We introduce some natural assumptions on the nonlinearity f and obtain the existence of Mountain-pass type solution and ground state solution for above equation. Moreover, two distinct solutions, one has positive energy while the other one has negative energy, are established for the above equation with a perturbation.</n\)<>

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to establish regularity for weak solutions to the nondiagonal quasilinear degenerate elliptic systems related to Hörmander's vector fields, where the coefficients are bounded with vanishing mean oscillation. We first prove $L^p$($p \ge 2$) estimates for gradients of weak solutions by using a priori estimates and a known reverse Hölder inequality, and consider regularity to the corresponding nondiagonal homogeneous degenerate elliptic systems. Then we get higher Morrey and Campanato estimates for gradients of weak solutions to original systems and Hölder estimates for weak solutions.

Abstract:In this paper we consider nonlinear elliptic PDEs of the type $$-\Delta_p u+a(x)|u|^{p-2}u=|u|^{p^*-2}u \qquad \mbox{ in }\Omega,$$ where $1<p<N$ and $p^*=Np/(N-p)$ is the critical Sobolev exponent, and allowing the asymptotic behavior of the weight function $a$ to be sensitive to the direction. We provide a unified variational approach to obtain existence of distinct solutions in either the unbounded case $\Omega=\mathbb{R}^N$ or when $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain. A key point is a precise description of the compactness properties of certain sequences of approximating solutions (Palais-Smale sequences), for which we use novel observations on nonexistence in certain regimes. Most of our main results are new in the case of the classical Laplace operator, $p=2$.

Abstract:By introducing a new classification of the growth rate of exponential functions, singular solutions for semilinear elliptic equations in 2-dimensions with exponential nonlinearities are constructed. The strategy is to introduce a model nonlinearity which admits an explicit singular solution. Then, using a transformation as in [8], one obtains an approximate singular solution, and then one concludes by a suitable fixed point argument. Our method covers a wide class of nonlinearities in a unified way. As a special case, our result contains a pioneering contribution by Ibrahim--Kikuchi--Nakanishi--Wei [15] for the Moser--Trudinger type nonlinearity.
