Abstract:Este artigo pretende apresentar um estudo, a respeito de como certos aspectos espaciais são desenvolvidos na obra literária Berlin Alexanderplatz (1929) de Alfred Döblin. Deseja-se evidenciar a importância do espaço da praça Alexanderplatz, como sendo um espaço privilegiado para o desenvolvimento da narrativa e para a composição das personagens do romance. Levando em conta que o autor pensa seu romance como uma obra épica moderna. O que leva a compreender também que se trata de um romance que evidencia a crise do romance enquanto gênero. Além de demonstrar que a obra é um romance moderno e vanguardista em sua feitura. Dessa maneira, espera-se evidenciar a relevância da praça como um espaço fulcral na elaboração e no desenvolvimento, não só da narrativa, mas também na composição das personagens, que transitam e habitam a Alexanderplatz, naquele período tão importante para a história da sociedade alemã.

Abstract:Berlin has developed“critical reconstruction” as well as related urban design principles and practices in 1980s. Based on critics on urban design principles in modern urbanism and understanding of contemporary life styles,“critical reconstruction”aims to recover the spatial outline of historic city and promote differentiation among public space, semi-public space and private space.“critical reconstruction” is one the delegates of European urban design in 1990s. Aesthetic and historic dimensions have been introduced to as principles to promote urban regeneration and urban development. Besides, public participation and urban public space system have also be identified as central tasks in“critical reconstruction”.

Abstract:In his bookThe Experience of the Foreign: Culture and Translation in Romantic Germanythat focuses on the German culturalprocess before and after the nineteenth century, Antoine Berman carries out a historical “archaeology” on the origins, developments and tendencies of German translation activities and theories since Luther. His analyses and conclusive statements on some fundamental issues in translation eventually lead to his definition of translation as “the experience of the foreign”. This paper, starting from the implicit logic of Berman’s translation thoughts, attempts to clarify certain misunderstandings related to the interpretation and understanding of Berman’s theories that still exist in the current academic translation circle in the perspective of text analysis and “interpretants”.

Abstract:A la recherche du temps perdu, written by a famous French writer Marcel Proust, is regarded as one of the classic works in the literary history. During more than a decade of introduction in China, this work has received close attention, especially for the translation of its title. However, no consensus has been reached. By reviewing how this novel has been translated, the present paper revolves mainly around arguments and controversial ideas about the Chinese translation of its title. Various factors leading to this divergence are also discussed, such as comprehension of the theme of the novel, method of re-expression, translators’ aspiration, and readers’ expectation, etc, which broaden the space of understanding the writer and his work.

Abstract:Cities and villages experienced great changes in the 20th century.Almost all present cities' forms can be traced back to two famous architects' urban Utopia.One is the Radiant City and the other is Broadacre City.Both were criticized by historians,sociologists and urban planners.From a more humanistic perspective,this paper interprets the contexts and texts of the two different Utopias that Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier proposed in 1930s with the analysis of the relationship between the architects' world views and the urban forms and structures of the two Cities.The Radiant City,based on the background of philosophy revolution,reflects the dialectical thoughts of Le Corbusier from three perspectives including giving space the order that draws from the mathematic geometry and inner abstract metaphor,maintaining the equilibrium between efficiency and Basic Pleasures(sun,sky,trees,water etc),and coordinating the collective and the individual.Le Corbusier wanted to make cities the creation of harmony.The Broadacre City,based on the background of American liberalism and individualism and Spencer's social Darwin,is the organic integrity of Wright's thoughts.all reflect Wright's American Democracy,a great entity in everything including the Broadacre City.From the philosophically critical view,this paper discloses the paradox which lies in ontology and epistemol-ogy of urban citizens and their relationships.The two Urban Utopias reflect the former urban planners' thoughts about the city.They considered that the physical arrangement of the space was the essence of Urban planning and the solution to the present crisis,and the people in the two cities are abstract,but not the real existing ones.They also misunderstood the relationship between the space and the people.They considered that the physical spaces planning could be the effective method of the social revolution,yet that is superficial space,not the real existed social spaces.Their misunderstanding is based on Modernism whose core is the aesthetics since Nietzsche.Though their Utopia's might have defects,it should encourage the present people to pursue more pleasure and hopes in the future.

Abstract:Contradiction between freedom and power is a basic issue of all society.Isaiah Berlin's "Two concepts of liberty" based on the assumption of abstract human nature is an important contribution to this issue,and has been taken as the philosophical basis of Neo-liberalism.Fundamentally,these two kinds of liberty are nothing other than the ideal state of human practices in history to resolve the contradictions between passivity and activity in practices.They can not be truly achieved by the "competitive system of delegational-representational election" dominated by the great power of capital networks in capitalist societies.The "organized democratic consultation-supervision system" might be a rational way to achieve the"genuine freedom" in an asymmetric power structure.Its goal is to bring into full play the constructive role of citizens' "active freedom",and thus formulating a legal system to maintain the "passive freedom" of everyone.

Abstract:Berlin has always been a literary space of extremely diverse political and cultural projections. This essay investigates why after the unification of East and West Berlin the city has been imagined as a play zone of sexual self-fulfilment by authors such as Inka Parei, Tanja Dückers, Kathrin Röggla, Judith Hermann and Julia Franck. Have such erotic adventures replaced political vision in our post-utopian decade? What is the purpose of the laboured allegorisation of the fall of the wall in Durs Grünbein's essays or in the novels of Katja Lange-Müller and Thomas Hettche? The sexification of historical and political processes recalls similar stereotypes in the East German literature of the 1980s: the metropolis as a whore in works by Heiner Müller or Wolf Biermann, but also by younger authors of the independent literary scene in Berlin like Uwe Kolbe or Frank-Wolf Matthies.

Abstract:After commenting on some defects of traditional theories on the relationship between cities and regions, this paper presents a series of new viewpoints in two aspects.The first aspect concerns the characteristics of spatial flow of essential factors of production.The paper suggests that the flow in space to different subjects is asymmetric and is inclined to high-profit regions;and that information flow in space can in some degree substitute for the flow of materials.The second aspect is about the relationship between central place and its economic hinterland. The paper argues that,to economic hinterland,the intensity of attraction and radiation of cities is not always weakening at distance;that a city can be another city' s hinterland,and vice versa;and that in an imbalanced regional economy urban hinterland between developed areas and underdeveloped areas is asymmetric.Meanwhile the paper definespara-hinterlandandenclave hinterland.The former means an areas which has a loose connection with a central city,and often characterized by connecting in one or a few of functional relationships,but the related quantity between the city and the area in a unit area still reaches a certain criterion.The latter means an area which does not joint to a city' s main hinterland,but has a rather close economic connection with the city;The connection can be the flow of essential factors of production,cooperation in producing progress or inner division of labor.Then basing on these basic view-points,the paper opens a new visual angle in urban and regional research which can be done on three levels.The first level is to substitute closedentire-piece areawith openfunctional area;the middle level is to control research area with knots and network;and the lowest level is to research urban hinterland through enterprises' hinterland.

Abstract:In the complete manuscript of The Three Leaps of Wang Lun which keeps Doeblin’s original intention,Doeblin has in proper order incorporated several speeches and parables from the Taoist classic Zhuang Zi .By using and converting them in different degrees and integrating them in perfect harmony into his own novel text,Doeblin creates unique literary conception and artistic styles.As Doeblin has never been in China and does not understand Chinese,his main method to make use of Zhuang Zi’s thoughts and images is the so-called “spiritual wandering”—to read and study as many relevant translations and introductions as possible.Through examining the versions and introductions of Zhuang Zi in west Europe and Germany available to Doeblin at that time and comparing their representative works with Doeblin’s texts generated by using Zhuang Zi from various angles,we can find out that Doeblin has numerous ways to deal with Zhuang Zi .Though the German translation of Zhuang Zi by Richard Wilhelm has been generally regarded as important until now,it is subjectively manipulated to a great extent,and its effect on Doeblin’s “Chinese novel”seems to be exaggerated.

Abstract:The theory of alienation occupies a very important position in Marx's theoretical system. In the Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844, Marx criticizes classical political economy in England starting from alienated labor and puts forward four aspects of alienated labor. The Frankfurt School further developed Marx's theory of alienation and conducted comprehensive investigations on technological alienation, cultural alienation, consumer alienation, and other aspects of modern society's culture, politics, and art. In the new turn of late modern society, the fourth generation Frankfurt School scholar Hartmut Rosa, starting from time analysis, analyzes the growth logic and dynamic stability of modern society's overall crisis through the theory of social acceleration critique, and proposes the social pathologies of "acceleration" and the solution of "resonance", attempting to achieve a better life for people in the present era through the adaptive mode of resonance theory. Based on Hartmut Rosa's works and related research, this article explores the theoretical origins of Rosa's theory of social acceleration critique, the historical background and ideological elements, elaborates on Rosa's analysis of the phenomenon of social acceleration, the new forms of alienation under the background of accelerated society, and the resonant solutions to the problem of new alienation. Finally, this article examines the theoretical value and shortcomings of his theory.

Abstract:Freedom is the core idea in modern thought,but when people pursuing it,they get in a state of antinomy: when people get freedom,they feel deeply lonely and unsafe,and because of this,they escape from freedom,even give up freedom,and this is the base of fascism.By unifying Marx's historical materialism and Freud's psycho-analysis,Fromm reveals people's contradictory mental state when confronted with freedom,and Fromm maintains that the way of getting rid of the mental state is making full use of man's creativity and approaching positive freedom.

Abstract:Narrators from Moby Dick and Open City both search for truth by looking beyond conventional geographical, political, and social boundaries. They critically examine the external world, leading to postcolonial truths concerning malevolence of American or Western imperialism. Despite key similarities in perspective, narrators differ in how the external world reflects individual identity. In Open City, evil is not just an external concept. It is subconsciously embedded within the mind of the narrator himself. Julius denies committing a brutal rape, which reveals that he is creating his own reality, just as colonial powers “whitewash” acts of exploitation. Creation of an immoral narrator ultimately reveals that external evils are the manifestation of internal processes, which are deeply embedded in the psyche of all human beings. Ultimately, the narrator of Open City reveals modern views of global identity development, where interpretation and validation of the external world is an internal and subjective psychological process.

Abstract:In recent years network thinking is a kind of new tools in researches on open space, as well as a trend in open space practice of European countries. Based on Zurich case study, the article discusses open space planning based on network thinking. In the end of twentieth century, increasing construction in Zurich led to a lot of problem such as open space loss, ecological deterioration, and decline in environmental quality of civic life. In order to establish close relation between open space and citizens' everyday life, Zurich established special organization on open space, by excavating, optimizing and maintaining open space, and reconstructing links between open spaces, a three-dimensioned open space network system containing multi-scale, multi-level and multi-function is constructed, and Zurich successfully transformed from gray city to livable city. Zurich case has enlightenments on planning idea and method on sustainable development.

Abstract:Since the Second World War, the critique of modernity has once fullthered to examine the topic of “Enlightenment”and its traditional methods. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorro’s Dialectec of Enlightenment has responded to this subject. The core idea of it is that modern totalianism is not external or pure reflection of the tradition of Enlightenment but is the dialectical unfolding of the internal characteristics and motivation of that tradition. So the principle of Enlightenment and its strenthening self-developing have provided the widest and deepest foundation for the myth and primitive state. This is a valuable insight. But because following critiques have not engaged a through examination on the foundation of ontology, they are still incompelete and waiting to be finished.
