Abstract:Fossil-fuel combustion is the major anthropogenic emission source of mercury. In China, a coal-fired power plant is the most common method of producing electric energy. Numerous studies have been conducted to research the characteristics of mercury emissions from the coal-fired power plants in China. Many factors, such as the amount and type of coal, the manner of combustion, the conventional pollutant-control devices, will affect the mercury emission for its special physical-chemical characteristics. In order to study the mercury sampling and measurement in coal-fired electric power plants in China, 6 sets of typical coal-fired boiler systems were chosen. The basic conditions of these boiler systems are shown in Table 2.1.
