Abstract:Multiple cw visible lasers at wavelengths ranging from 550nm to 625nm were generated by intracavity frequency sum-mixing of a cascading Raman fiber laser in a type-I noncritically phase-matched lithium triborate crystal. The phase matching conditions for individual wavelengths were realized by tuning the temperature of the lithium triborate crystal.

Abstract:We present a mode-locked all-normal-dispersion double-clad Yb-doped fiber laser with 3 W output average power at 81 MHz repetition rate for 37 nJ chirped pulses, which can be compressed to 66 fs, with 400 KW peak power.

Abstract:We present a high power red-green-blue (RGB) laser light source based on cascaded quasi-phasematched wavelength conversions in a single stoichiometric lithium tantalate. The superiority of the experimental setup is: the facula of the incident beam is elliptical to increase interaction volume, and the cavity was an idler resonant configuration for realizing more efficient red and blue light output. An average power of 2 W of quasi-white-light was obtained by proper combination of the RGB three colors. The conversion efficiency for the power of the quasi-white-light over pump power reached 36%. This efficiency and powerful RGB laser light source has potential applications in laser-based projection display et al.

Abstract:Multiple cw visible lasers at wavelengths ranging from 550nm to 625nm were generated by intracavity frequency sum-mixing of a cascading fiber Raman laser in a type-I noncritically phase-matched lithium triborate crystal. Self-pulsed lasers were generated in fiber Raman master oscillator power amplifiers, where the amplifier and oscillator are pumped by one laser source successively. The pulse periods are one or half of the round-trip time of the oscillator, depending on the optical length of the amplifier.

Abstract:Sub-nanosecond high-peak-power passively Q-switched yellow and orange lasers are compactly developed using a near-concentric resonator with intracavity-stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) as well as second harmonic generation (SHG). The fundamental wave is generated from an a-cut Nd:YVO4 crystal. The Stokes wave for an SHG yellow (579 nm) or orange (589 nm) laser is generated from a Np-cut potassium gadolinium tungstate (KGW) with the Ng or Nm axis parallel to the c-axis of Nd:YVO4 crystal. The optimal cavity length is systematically explored in a near-concentric configuration to achieve sub-nanosecond high-peak-power pulses. The shortest pulse widths for the yellow and orange output pulses are down to 0.67 ns and 0.70 ns, respectively. The highest peak powers for the yellow and orange output pulses are up to 176 and 138 kW, respectively.

Abstract:We demonstrated a straightforward approach to generate red and near-infrared laser emissions by a Raman-assisted four wave mixing (FWM) process in a nonlinear Yb-doped fiber amplifier, delivering 342 fs pulses of 241 nJ at 864 nm, 834 fs pulses of 21 nJ at 751 nm, and 1.9 ps pulses of 3.8 μJ at 1030 nm. A pair of gratings was employed as the pre-compressor to promote the intensity of the fundamental wave in the main amplifier. Multiple wavelengths from 751 to 1273 nm resulted due to cascaded-Raman-assisted FWM. The pre-compression also underlay the achievement of 25.1, 701, and 2000 kW peak power for the red (751 nm), near-infrared (864 nm), and fundamental (1030 nm) components respectively, which restrained the gain narrowing effect during the amplification. It finally led to shorter pulse duration under increased power.

Abstract:We demonstrate a compact all-solid-state yellow laser source based on Q-switched dual-wavelength Nd:YAG laser and periodically-poled LiTaO(3) crystal. 589-nm yellow light was generated by single-pass sum-frequency generation of the fundamental IR waves at 1064 and 1319 nm. The maximum output power of yellow light was 506 mW and the corresponding conversion efficiency was approximately 5.5% [W(-1)cm(-1)].

Abstract:We reported an actively Q-switched, intracavity Nd3+:YVO4 self-Raman laser at 1176nm with low threshold and high efficiency. From the extracavity frequency doubling by use of LBO nonlinear crystal, over 3.5mW, 588nm yellow laser is achieved. The maximum Raman laser output at is 182mW with 1.8W incident pump power. The threshold is only 370mW at a pulse repetition frequency of 5kHz. The optical conversion efficiency from incident to the Raman laser is 10%, and 1.9% from Raman laser to the yellow.

Abstract:A high-power 588 nm light produced by an intracavity frequency-doubling acousto-optic Q-switched self-frequency Raman laser is reported. A 20-mm-long YVO4/Nd:YVO4 composite crystal and a 15-mm-long LiB3O5 (LBO) with noncritical phase-matching (theta=90 degrees, phi=0) cut were adopted for efficient self-Raman laser operation and second-harmonic generation, respectively. By the optimizing the focus position of incident pump light and Q-switch repetition rate, yellow light with 5.7 W average power was generated under the pump power of 23.5 W, corresponding to the overall diode-yellow conversion efficiency of 24.2% and slope efficiency of 32%. Abstract:The combined effect of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS), four-wave mixing (FWM) and self-pulsation in optical fibers can be either beneficial or detrimental, depending upon a specific application. In this work, we report for the first time that, under watt-level CW pumping in a common-cavity Ytterbium/Raman random fiber laser, a significant wavelength down-conversion is generated by FWM in a standard single-mode fiber; moreover, nonlinear optical dynamics of SRS, FWM and self-pulsation was simultaneously observed in this setup. In a certain range of pump powers, strong and stable self-pulsation effects were observed, which occurred simulta-neously with the cascaded SRS emissions and an intense visible orange emission at 603 nm, which can be attributed to the FWM from the 1064 nm light-wave. The experimental results agree well with the theoretical calculations for the FWM process. Besides, self-pulsation and high order cascaded are also analyzed. The importance of these results for high power Raman based fiber lasers and random fiber lasers, as well as continuum generation will be discussed.

Abstract:We demonstrate simultaneously efficient generation of cw red, yellow, and green coherent radiations, "traffic signal lights," by multifrequency conversions from a diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 dual-wavelength laser with a single-pass aperiodically poled LiTaO3. The 1.8 mW red at 671 nm and 0.64 mW green at 532 nm are, respectively, generated by frequency doubling of fundamental waves at 1342 and 1064 nm, and 0.79 mW yellow at 593 nm is produced by sum-frequency mixing of the two fundamental waves, under two fundamental waves of 970 mW at 1342 nm and 940 mW at 1064 nm. Abstract:We report a continuous-wave yellow laser at 578nm obtained by doubly resonant intracavity sum-frequency mixing of thin disk Yb:YAG laser and Nd:YAG laser with a LBO nonlinear crystal. Single-wavelength laser operation at 578nm by using a silica etalon as a wavelength selector and dual-wavelength operation at 578nm and 582nm are obtained with maximum output powers of 100mW and 136mW, respectively. The single wavelength operating power stability value in 30min was ~4.7%, which was improved ∼21.6%, compared with that of dual-wavelength operation.

Abstract:We report on a passively Q-switched (PQS) yellow laser emitting at 589 nm by using type-I noncritical phase-matching LBO crystal intracavity frequency-doubled self-Raman laser. A 30-mm-length c-cut YVO4/Nd:YVO4/YVO4 composite crystal was employed to accelerate heat spread as well as enhance the Raman conversion efficiency. By using a Cr4+:YAG composite crystal with the initial transmission of 83%, a yellow emission with 660 mW average output power was obtained under the absorbed pump power of 17.5 W, corresponding to the diode-to-yellow conversion efficiency of 3.8% and slope efficiency of 8.1%, respectively. The pulse repetition frequency and pulse duration were measured to be 16 kHz and 2.8 ns, respectively, corresponding to the pulse energy of 41.3 μJ and peak power of 14.7 kW. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest power of PQS yellow laser via intracavity frequency-doubled self-Raman laser.

Abstract:A high-power single-frequency 1178 nm continuous-wave laser is generated in a two-stage stimulated-Brillouin-scattering-suppressed all-polarization-maintaining Raman fiber amplifier pumped by 1120 nm fiber lasers. A polarization-extinction-ratio of 30 dB is achieved due to the all-polarization-maintaining configuration and the polarization dependence gain of Raman scattering. Single-pass frequency doubling with a homemade periodically poled near-stoichiometric LiT alpha O-3 crystal (PPSLT) produces an up to 7 W narrow-linewidth laser at 589 nm. The thermally induced dephasing effect is found to be the key issue for improving second-harmonic efficiency. (C) 2013 Optical Society of America

Abstract:We introduce a fully-integrated two-color sub-nanosecond fiber laser system that incorporates a backward-pumped polarization-maintaining (PM) Raman phosphosilicate fiber amplifier (RFA) followed by two fully-integrated fiber-coupled second harmonic generator (SHG) modules. The RFA is pumped by a continuous-wave (CW) Yb laser operating at 1116 nm. The pulsed signals are generated by gain-switched distributed feedback (DFB) laser diodes at 1178 nm and 1310 nm, respectively. The output pulsed DFB signals are independently or simultaneously amplified in the RFA. This amplification is achieved using both the broad SiO 2 (∼13.2 THz) and relatively narrow P 2 O 5 (39.9 THz) Stokes shifts. The laser system produces sub-nanosecond pulses at 589 and 655 nm, featuring repetition rates ranging from 40 to 100 MHz and an average power of up to 3 W (limited by the SHG crystal damage threshold) at each wavelength. The diffraction-limited output beams maintain an M 2 value of < 1.05 across the entire range of output powers and repetition rates for both wavelengths.

Abstract:Normalized space-dependent rate equations of passively Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Raman lasers are deduced for the first time. The normalized rate equations are solved numerically to investigate the influences of the normalized variables on the yellow laser performance. The LD end-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/SrWO(4)/KTP/Cr:YAG yellow Raman laser is realized, and the maximum yellow laser output power is 350 mW with the incident pump power of 5.9 W with Cr:YAG of 85% initial transmission. The theoretical analysis and optimization are taken out for the experiment, and the theoretical results are in accordance with the experimental ones.

Abstract:We present what is, to the best of our knowledge, the first report on yellow - green laser generation based on the frequency doubling of the 1.1 mu m transitions in Nd:YAG ceramics. By employing an 885 nm diode laser as the end-pumping source and a lithium triborate crystal as the frequency doubler, the highest continuous wave output powers of 1.4, 0.5, and 1.1 W at 556, 558, and 561 nm are achieved, respectively. These result in optical-to-optical efficiencies of 6.9%, 2.5%, and 5.4% with respect to the absorbed pump power, respectively. (C) 2015 Optical Society of America

Abstract:We demonstrate a new high efficiency architecture for cascaded Raman fiber lasers based on a single pass cascaded amplifier configuration. Conversion is seeded at all intermediate Stokes wavelengths using a multi-wavelength seed source. A lower power Raman laser based on the conventional cascaded Raman resonator architecture provides a convenient seed source providing all the necessary wavelengths simultaneously. In this work we demonstrate a 1480nm laser pumped by an 1117nm Yb-doped fiber laser with maximum output power of 204W and conversion efficiency of 65% (quantum-limited efficiency is ~75%). We believe both the output power and conversion efficiency (relative to quantum-limited efficiency) are the highest reported for cascaded Raman fiber lasers.
