Abstract:Three new species of the genus Monardis Enslin are described from China. A key is proposed for the known species of the genus. The type specimens of new species are deposited in the Insect Collection of Central South Forestry College. 1. Monardis sinica Wei, sp. nov.(Figs. 1～4) Female: Body length 6.5 mm. Black; apical half of each femur, tibiae and tarsi entirely yellowish brown. Wings slightly infumate, stigma and veins black. Body hairs silver white. Body slender. Malar space half as wide as diameter of an ocellus, lateral furrows divergent backwards. lst cubital cross vein complete, 2A+3A shortly turn up at apex. Hind nervulus perpendicular to the short anal stalk. Sheath with long and narrow lateral processes. Lancet with 25 serrulae, serrula quite low and flat, with a large inner subbasal tooth and 10～12 very small outer subbasal teeth. Male and host unknown. Holotype: ♀, Omei Mt., Sichuan Province, April 7, 1988, Bu Wenjun leg. This new species differs from other known species of the genus by the unique serrulae, the narrow malar space and the perpendicular hind nervulus. 2. Monardis songyunae Wei, sp. nov. (Figs. 5～10) Female: Body length 8.0 mm. Black; clypeus, labrum, base of mandible, palpi, pronotum, tegulae, each coxa except apex, trochanters, apical third of each femur, tibiae and tarsi entirely, abdomen except sheath yellowish brown. Wings slightly infumate, costa brown, stigma black. Body hairs silver white. Body robust. Malar space half as wide as diameter of an ocellus, lateral furrows parallel. lst cubital cross vein absent entirely, 2A+3A strongly curved up. Hind anal cell with a short pedicle, nervulus oblique and curve. Sheath short and wide, with short and obtuse lateral processes. Lancet with 52 serrulae, serrula lobe like, with 2 inner subbasal teeth and 5 outer teeth. Male: Body length 7.0 mm. Body black, the hind margin of tegulae, tibiae and tarsi pale brown. Structure similar to female. Genitalia as shown in Figs. 5, 6. Holotype:♀, Omei Mt., Sichuan Province, May 7, 1987, Li Xinzheng leg.; paratype: l♂, Omei Mt., Sichuan Province, April 8, 1957, Zheng Leyi, Cheng Hanhua Leg. This new species is quite different from other known species of the genus by the different color pattern in male and female, the female lancet with more than 50 serrulae and the entirely atrophied lst cubital cross vein. 3. Monardis pedicula Wei et Wen, sp. nov. (Figs. 11～14) Female: Body length 6.5 mm. Black; front margin of labrum, palpi, lateral lobes of pronotum, tegulae, apical half of front femur, apical third of middle femur reddish yellow, tibiae and tarsi yellowish brown, dorsal side of tibiae blackish at apex. Wings slightly infumate, costal vein pale brown at basal 2/3, stigma black except extreme base. Body hairs silver brown. Body slender. Malar space half as wide as diameter of an ocellus, lateral furrows parallel. First cubital cross vein present, 2A+3A shortly curved up. The pedicle of hind anal cell distinctly longer than hind nervulus, hind nervulus oblique basally. Sheath slender, with long and narrow lateral processes. Lancet with 20 serrulae, each serrula with two large teeth, an inner subbasal tooth and an outer tooth, the out margin of the outer tooth with 3～5 small and indistinct teeth. Male: Body length 6.5 mm. Body color and structure similar to female, but the apical third of hind femur also reddish yellow, the flagellum of antenna slender, the 3rd cubital cell in front wing shorter than the 2nd cubital cell. Genitalia as shown in Figs. 12, 13. Holotype: ♀, Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, April 15, 1996, Wei Meicai, Wen Jun leg. paratype: 1♂, data same as the holotype. Host: Rosa multiflora Thunb.
