Abstract:The title compound, (1R,2R,3R,5S)-3-(3-chlorophenyl)-1-hydroxy-2-methyl-6-phenyl-8-oxa-6-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-7-one, was synthesized and characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR and HRMS spectroscopy. Its absolute molecular configuration was investigated by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure analysis revealed that the structure exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the type O-H horizontal ellipsis O. The methyl group and chlorophenyl group are located in the cis configuration. The conformation is stabilized by weak intermolecular C-H... O interactions.

Abstract:Functional nanosized cage complexes with an octahedral framework have been synthesized by the facile self-assembly reactions of six 90 PdII-containing compounds {[Pd(dppf)(OTf)(2)] or [Pd(PPh3)(OTf)(2)], dppf = 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphanyl) ferrocene, OTf = trifluoromethylsulfonate} and four 120 degrees functional tritopic ligands [2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine] in acetone. Diffusion-ordered NMR spectroscopy (DOSY) and AFM images clarify the formation of 3-4 nm nanoparticles. These highly symmetrical cage complexes are discrete, face-directed, functional nanoparticles with symmetrical octahedral structures. The self-assembled functional cage complexes exhibit interesting electrochemical activities, and thus will potentially be useful in the catalysis of redox reactions, the encapsulation of sizeable guest molecules and the control of organic synthetic reactions.

Abstract:By oxidation of an alternately N-confused bilane in CH2Cl2, a C-N fused tetrapyrrin was synthesized that bears a 5.5.5-tricyclic ring generated from an intramolecular C-N linkage. When CH3CN was used as the reaction medium, a multiply C-N-fused octapyrrolic dimer was also obtained that contained two 5.5.5.7.5-pentacyclic moieties and a bipyrrole unit generated from the intramolecular C-N linkage and intermolecular C-C linkage, respectively. This could be coordinated with Ni(acac)2 to afford a mixed-ligand complex.

Abstract:A mononuclear complex [Zn(phbz) 2 (phen)] ( 1 , Hphbz = 4-biphenylcarboxylic acid, phen is 1,10-phenanthroline) is obtained, and its structure is determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). It is additionally characterized by powder XRD, IR and NMR spectroscopy. The theoretic simulation (DFT B3LYP/Def2-TZVP) of the dimerization process of the complex shows that one of the reasons for the lack of experimental detection of dimeric structures of this type may be a low stabilization energy of the hypothetical binuclear compound [Zn 2 (phbz) 4 (phen) 2 ].

Abstract:The title complex, [Mn3O(C6H5COO)6(py)3] · 2CH3CN (py = pyridine), has been prepared. Single-crystal X-ray analysis revealed a μ3-oxo-bridged Mn2III MnII structure, in which each manganese atom has a distorted octahedral environment. The Mn(1) atom is readily assigned as a MnIII centre from the Mn-(μ3-O) distance [1.819(5)A˚]. The remaining Mn(2) and Mn(3) atoms are essentially equivalent in crystallography, indicating an electronic delocalization between MnII and MnIII atoms.

Abstract:The title complex was prepared by the reaction of bis(8-quinolinolato-N-1,O-8)nickel(II) with 4-methylpyridine. The X-ray crystal structure of the complex showed it to have a slightly distorted octahedral configuration, in which the central Ni atom is coordinated by two oxygen and two nitrogen atoms from two 8-quinolinol ligands forming the equatorial plane and two apical 4-methylpyridine nitrogen atoms.

Abstract:Rational synthesis, spectroscopic and solid-state structural isolation of an unprecedented core modified N-confused fused porphyrinogen 7 as a single isomer has been achieved in near quantitative yield. The solid-state crystal structure reveals a non planar structure as a result of four sp3 meso carbons for 7. All possible stereoisomers of the S2N3 hybrid N-confused fused porphyrinogen 7 have been unravelled via thorough DFT studies. The genesis of the porphyrinogen-porpho(mono/di)methene-porphyrin skeleton rearrangements have been unravelled via controlled chemical oxidation methods. Abstract:A set of silver(i) 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl) pyrazolate adducts with 1,10-phenanthroline (L2), 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (neocuproine, L3) and 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (bathocuproine, L4) was synthesized starting from trimeric silver pyrazolate Ag3Pz3. Reactions with sterically hindered L3 and L4 cause the destruction of the original trimeric core, yielding a dinuclear Ag2Pz2 cycle with an unprecedented chair configuration for L3, while bathocuproine L4 leads to the drastic rearrangement of the silver pyrazolate core into cationic Ag(L4)2 and anionic Ag5Pz6 subunits. All complexes obtained exhibit phosphorescence in the solid state. Time-dependent density functional theory calculations demonstrate their different possible emission processes, explaining their emission behavior as well as their lifetimes.

Abstract:Exploration of expanded porphyrins with unprecedented reactivities has remained important. Here [22]pentaphyrins(2.0.1.1.0) were synthesized as a constitutional isomer of sapphyrin by acid-catalyzed cyclization of 1,14-dibromo-5,10-diaryltripyrrin with 1,2-di(pyrro-2-ly)ethenes. These pentaphyrins display roughly planar structures and varying aromaticities depending upon the vinylene structures. The 19,20-ditolyl pentaphyrin gave an N-fused product and an unprecedented pyrrole-rearranged product, depending upon the oxidation conditions. Remarkably, upon the metalation with CuCl, the N-fused product and the pyrrole-rearranged product afforded an inner b-b coupled face-to-face CuII complex dimer and an outer b-b coupled lateral CuII complex dimer, respectively, in fairly good yields. Further, [22]pentaphyrin(2.0.1.1.0) fused with a NiII porphyrin was effectively dimerized upon oxidation with MnO2 to give a 16-16' directly linked dl-dimer.

Abstract:Three mononuclear and one hexanuclear manganese(iii) complexes, [Mn(L)(H2O)2]·Cl (1), [Mn(L)(H2O)2]·Br (2), [Mn(L)(H2O)2]·NO3 (3), and [Mn6(L)6(NCS)6] (4), have been synthesized using a Schiff-base ligand, namely (E)-2-((3-(2-hydroxyethylamino)propylimino)methyl)phenol (H2L), and structurally characterized by the usual physicochemical techniques such as UV-Vis, FT-IR, ESI-MS, EPR and single crystal XRD. The structure of complex 4 is unique among all four complexes as the sixth coordination position of manganese is fulfilled by the oxygen atom of a neighbouring unit by covalent interaction. The phenoxazinone synthase like activity of all four complexes has been thoroughly investigated using three different substrates, o-aminophenol (OAP), 2-amino-4-methylphenol (MAP) and 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoic acid (CAP). All complexes were found to be active towards catalysis and complex 4 showed the highest activity. The EPR study reveals that the oxidative dimerization of the substrates occurred through metal centered redox participation rather than a radical formation pathway. The experimental observations have been supported by DFT calculations to put forward the most probable mechanistic pathways operating in the catalytic cycle. Moreover, Mn3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) having two different morphologies have been synthesized using complexes 1 and complex 4 simply by calcination, respectively, with the aim to prepare nanozymes. These two synthesized NPs were also able to show phenoxazinone synthase like activity and thus complexes 1 and 4 can be claimed as precursors of nanozymes.
