Simplified Modeling of the Power-electronized Load Based on Sensitivity Analysis

Abstract:In recent years, more and more electrical equipment is connected to the grid through power electronics, these devices are called power-electronized loads. In the existing load models, the power-electronized load is usually described by using a static load model with constant power. However, it is difficult for the constant power load model to accurately reflect the dynamic characteristics of the power-electronized load at the moment of voltage sag and recovery. In this paper, to establish a more accurate simplified model of the power-electronized load, sensitivity analysis is performed for detailed models of two typical power-electronized loads, inverter air conditioner and switching mode power supply. Base on the sensitivity analysis results, a simplified model of power-electronized load is proposed. The experimental data of the actual inverter air conditioner and switching mode power supply (computer power supply), prove that the simplified model is effective and reasonable. The next step of the research will consider improving the applicability of the model for various power-electronized loads under varying degrees of voltage sag and the solution for connecting to current load models.
