Abstract:The interface lattice misfitting theory can not explain that TiC and CaS act as an efficient catalyzer during the non-equilibrium solidification of austenite steel. The interface lattice fitting does not play the key role in catalysis by the analyses of Yu's empirical electron theory of solids and molecules and Cheng's improved TFD model. Based on Tillen's electrostatic effect theory, a valence electron model on heterogeneous nucleation of austenite steel in the process of non-equilibrium solidification was proposed. The model is composed of the hybridization stable layer for γ-Fe cells, the dual crystal lattice electron (layer) for (γ-Fe)-heterogeneous nuclei, and the hybridization stable layer for heterogeneous nuclei. Meanwhile, a criterion for estimating the catalysis of heterogeneous nuclei was derived. The theoretical model and criterion were used to analyze the catalyses of VC, NbC, TiC, TaC, ZrC, and CaS particles. The results well agree with the experiments.
