Abstract:During recent years,some researchers consider that the direct torque control technique is a novel drive method for AC motors,which is more advanced than the vector control technique.In this paper, direct torque control and vector control are both considered as the high performance control methods for AC motor drive system, which have their own advantages and application fields respectively. It is difficult to conclude that which control method is better now. Through the improvements of some related techniques, such as rotor flux deadbeat control, parameter identification,auto-tuning technique and non-linear controller, the vector control drive system can obtain the good dynamic performance as the direct torque control system. In addition,compared with the development history of information technology,the influences of market on technologies are discussed. The future directions of vector control and direct torque control are forecasted in this paper. Due to their different characteristics,the two control methods would be developed respectively and occupy the market in their own application fields in the future.
