Abstract:Three taxa of Phallaceae occurring in China were reported, including a new variety Phallus costatus var. sphaerocephalus, a recently reconfirmed species Phallus sulphureus and a new record to China Mutinus fleischeri. All specimens examined were deposited in Herbarium Mycologicum Instituti Microbiologici, Academiae Sinicae (HMAS), Beijing.

Abstract:The new species, Phallus tenuissimus, and P. formosanus, new to Mainland China, are described and illustrated. Both species were collected from within Yunnan Province, China: P. tenuissimus in the Wuliangshan Nature Reserve and P. formosanus in the Yingjiang Nature Reserve. A key to Phallus species known from China is also presented, and an interesting native Chinese species Dictyophora nanchangensis is discussed.

Abstract:16 species or varieties of Phallaceae are reported from Yunan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces, including 5 taxa of Dictyophora, 1 Endophallus, 2 Mutinus and 8 Phallus. They occupy 72.7% of the known taxa of these genera from China, which indicates that studies on the fungi in this area are of great importance and the fungi there are very abundant. Detailed descriptions and illustrations are also presented.

Abstract:Three new records of Phyllachora from China are reported.They are Phyllachora centothecae on Centotheca lappacea,Phyllachora coorgiana on Coix lachryma-jobi,and Phyllachora digitariicola on Digitaria sanguinalis.Specimens studied were collected from Jiangxi,Anhui,Hainan,Shaanxi and Yunnan provinces.Descriptions and illustrations of the species are given based on Chinese specimens.The specimens are deposited in Mycological Herbarium of the Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University (HMUABO) and Mycological Herbarium of the Yunnan Agricultural University (MHYAU),China.

Abstract:Three new species of the annulitibia-group of the genus Macrophya Dahlbom (Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae) in Mts. Qinling from China are described, namely M acrophya brevicinctata Li, Liu & Wei, sp. nov., M. qinlingium Li, Liu & Wei, sp. nov. and M. rugosifossa Li, Liu & Wei, sp. nov. A key to all known species of the annulitibia-group from China is provided. The specimens examined in this study are mostly deposited in the Insect Collection of Central South University of Forestry and Technology, Changsha, Hunan, China, including all holotypes and some paratypes of the new species. Other paratypes of the new species are deposited in the Department of Zoology, National Museum of Nature and Science, Amakubo, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan.

Abstract:Two new Phallus species, P.cremeo-ochraceus and P.rigidiindusiatus were discovered in southwestern and southern China, respectively. Phalluscremeo-ochraceus is morphologically characterized by its cream to ochraceous receptacle, white to very slightly pinkish indusium, white to pinkish pseudostipe and white to slightly purplish pink volva. Phallusrigidiindusiatus is characterized by a white to yellowish white receptacle, a strongly rigid indusium usually without serrated margin and smaller basidiospores than those of P.serratus. Phylogenetic positions of the two species are located in two independent lineages respectively. Detailed descriptions, color photographs, illustrations and a key to the related species are presented.

Abstract:“Dongsun” is an edible species of Phallus commercially cultivated in China. It is morphologically similar to P. impudicus and actually has been misidentified as “P. impudicus” for a long time. In this study the Chinese “Dongsun” is confirmed to be different from the typical P. impudicus from Europe based on morphological and phylogenetic comparisons, and therefore is formally proposed as P. dongsun, a species new to science. At the same time, another new species of Phallus was also discovered from southern China. It is named as P. lutescens, and is morphologically characterized by its indusium colour that turns from white or cream white to yellow or yellow-orange when mature. Both new species are presented with detailed morphological descriptions, photographs of basidiomata and images of microscopic structures, and are compared with other related Phallus taxa based on morphological and molecular data. A key to the Phallus species without an indusium and a key to the Phallus species with a coloured indusium are also presented at the end of the text.

Abstract:Three species of Laboulbeniales collected from Guangdong of China are reported in this paper. They are Aporomyces uniflagellatus Thaxter on Liminichus sp.; Aporomyces subulatus Thaxter on Byrrhinus sp; Chitonomyces bidessarius (Thaxter) Thaxter on Liodessus sp. Among them, Aporomyces uniflagellatus Thaxter is a new record to Guangdong and Aporomyces subulatus Thaxter is a new record to China. Descriptions and illustrations of the species are presented. The examined specimens are deposited in Herbarium of Guangdong Institute of Microbiology (HMIGD), China.

Abstract:Hypericum hubeiense L. H. Wu & D. P. Yang, H. ensh w'nse L. H. Wu & F. S. Wang and H. erectum Thunb. ssp. longisepalum L. H. Wu & D. P. Yang, three new taxa of Hypericum from Badong, Hubei, China, are described. H. hubeiense is closely related to H. asahinae Makino by having sessile leaves with cordate-amplexicaul base, sepals and petals with linear black glands, but differs by having leaves with black intramarginal glands, leaf blade without any glands, unequal sepals, obovate-oblong petals with more black glands, and more stamens. H. enshiense resembles H. faberi R. Keller ex Hand. -Mazz. in the creeping or ascending habit, the petiolate leaves with black intramarginal glands, but differs by the leaf blades with sparse black glands on lower surface and dense tiny papillae on lower surface, the leaf-like bracts and bracteoles, the larger sepals with sharp tip and linear black glands, the petals with linear black glands and, more stamens. H. erectum ssp. longisepalum differs from H. erectum Thunb. ssp. erectum by having larger sepals, shorter styles and seeds without carinate.

Abstract:Phyllachora (Phyllachoraceae, Phyllachorales) species are parasitic fungi with a wide global distribution, causing tar spots on plants. In this study, we describe three newly discovered species: Phyllachora chongzhouensis, Phyllachora neidongensis, and Phyllachora huiliensis from Poaceae in China. These species were characterized using morphological traits and multi-locus phylogeny based on the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) with the intervening 5.8S rRNA gene, the large subunit of the rRNA gene (LSU), and the 18S ribosomal RNA gene (SSU). Three known species of P. chloridis, P. graminis, and P. miscanthi have also been redescribed, because, in reviewing the original references of P. chloridis, P. graminis, and P. miscanthi, these were found to be relatively old and in Chinese or abbreviated. In addition, the illustrations were simple. In molecular identification, the ITS sequence is short, while the ITS, LSU, and SSU are incomplete. Therefore, this study provides new important references for the redescription of three known species and provides further evidence for the identification of new taxa.

Abstract:Five new species of Orchidaceae are described and illustrated from China based on morphological and phylogenetic analyses.The recently described genus Apetalanthe is reduced to synonymy of Ponerorchis.Four new species of Orchidaceae from China, Heminium lijiangense, Peristylus fasciculatus, Platanthera milinensis, and Ponerorchis gongshanensis, together with a new country record, Peristylus tenuicallus, are described and illustrated based on morphological and phylogenetic analyses. Heminium lijiangense is closely related to H. elisabethae but differs from it by having the dorsal sepal ovate-orbicular and lip mid-lobe distinctly shorter than lateral lobes. Peristylus fasciculatus is close to P. tradescantifolius but is distinguished from it by having several fascicled and straight, root-like tubers (vs. one or two oblongoid tubers), old stems usually persistent, mid-lobe of lip narrowly ligulate-lanceolate and half as long as the lateral lobes (vs. midlobe deltoid, about a third as long as the lateral lobes or less), a raised callus at the base of each lateral lobe (vs. calli absent), spur gradually attenuate toward the apex (vs. spur clavate). Platanthera milinensis is similar to P. stenochila by sharing small green flowers and lip without a spur, but differs in having a creeping rhizome, a corymbose inflorescence, and a broadly ovate and slightly 3-lobed lip. Ponerorchis gongshanensis is similar to P. faberi in its small flowers, but differs in having a linear leaf c. 3 mm wide (vs. leaf 5–13 mm wide), in the lip having collar-like raised margins on the sides of the spur entrance, and a mid-lobe which is notched at the apex but not divided into two divergent lobules that are nearly as large as the lateral lobes, as in P. faberi. All the proposed species obtained high support in phylogenetic analysis as new species. The recently described genus Apetalanthe is reduced to synonymy of Ponerorchis and a new combination is made.

Abstract:Cryptothecia and Myriostigma are important elements of crustose lichen communities in tropical to subtropical forests, but little research has been done on these two genera in China. Morphological and molecular phylogenetic approaches to investigate species diversity of Cryptothecia and Myriostigma from Southern China were carried out in this study. We find five species of Cryptothecia and Myriostigma in our study, including three new species (M. flavescens, M. hainana and M. laxipunctata) and two new records (C. bartlettii and C. inexspectata). In addition, a phylogenetic tree based on mtSSU, RPB2 and nLSU illustrates the placement of the five species and supports the delimitation of the three new taxa. Detailed descriptions of morphological, ecological and chemical characteristics and illustrations are provided for every species. A key to all known Chinese Cryptothecia and Myriostigma species is also provided.

Abstract:Hymenopellis is the genus that exhibits the highest number of species within the Xerula/Oudemansiella complex. Numerous species of Hymenopellis demonstrate edibility, and some of these species have been domesticated and cultivated. During an extensive survey carried out in Henan and Jilin Provinces, China, a substantial quantity of Hymenopellis specimens was gathered as a component of the macrofungal resource inventory. Based on the findings of morphological and molecular phylogenetic studies, a new species, Hymenopellis biyangensis, has been identified. A new record species, Hymenopellis altissima, has been discovered in China. Additionally, two new record species, Hymenopellis raphanipes and Xerula strigosa, have been found in Henan Province. Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit ribosomal (nrLSU) were used to establish a phylogeny for species identification. Detailed descriptions, field habitat maps and line drawings of these species are presented. The discussion focuses on the relationships between newly discovered species and other related taxa. Additionally, this study provides and a key to the documented species of Hymenopellis and Xerula found in China.

Abstract:Boletaceae, the largest family in Boletales, has been attracted by mycologists in the world due to its diverse morphology and complex history of evolution. Although considerable work has been done in the past decades, novel taxa are continually described. The current study aimed to introduce three new taxa and one new record of Boletaceae from China. The morphological descriptions, color photographs, phylogenetic trees to show the positions of the taxa, and comparisons with allied taxa are provided. The new genus Hemilanmaoa is unique in the Pulveroboletus group, and Hemilanmaoa retistipitatus was introduced as the type species. It can be distinguished by its bluing basidioma when injured, a decurrent hymenophore, a stipe covered with distinct reticulations, and a fertile stipitipellis. Porphyrellus pseudocyaneotinctus is characterized by its pileipellis consisting of broadly concatenated cells and thin-walled caulocystidia in Porphyrellus. In Phylloporus, Phylloporus biyangensis can be distinguished by its hymenophores that change to blue when injured and yellow basal mycelium. Lanmaoa angustispora, as a new record, is first reported in Northern China. Internal transcribed spacer (ITS), 28S rDNA (28S), translation elongation factor 1-alpha (tef1-alpha), RNA polymerase II subunit 1 (rpb1), and RNA polymerase II subunit 2 (rpb2) were employed to execute phylogenetic analyses.
