Abstract:We establish strong invariance principles for sums of stationary ρ-mixing random variables with finite and infinite second moments under weaker mixing rates.Some earlier results are improved.As applications,some results of the law of the iterated logarithm with finite and infinite variance are obtained,also a conjecture raised by Shao in 1993 is solved.

Abstract:In this paper we obtain two inequalities of the maximum of partial sums of an Lq-mixingale array, and as corollary a strong law of large numbers (SLLN) for an Lq-mixingale sequence is shown by using the moment inequality. Finally, we prove a weak law of large numbers (WLLN) for an Lq-mixingale array without the condition of uniform integrability which is needed in Andrews [Andrews, D.W.K., 1988. Abstract:In this paper, a notion of negative side ϱ-mixing (ϱ −-mixing) which can be regarded as asymptotic negative association is defined, and some Rosenthal type inequalities for ϱ −-mixing random fields are established. The complete convergence and almost sure summability on the convergence rates with respect to the strong law of large numbers are also discussed for ϱ −-mixing random fields. The results obtained extend those for negatively associated sequences and ϱ * random fields.

Abstract:Classical Kolmogorov's and Rosenthal's inequalities for the maximum partial sums of random variables are basic tools for studying the strong laws of large numbers. In this paper, motived by the notion of independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation initiated by Peng (2008), we introduce the concept of negative dependence of random variables and establish Kolmogorov's and Rosenthal's inequalities for the maximum partial sums of negatively dependent random variables under the sub-linear expectations. As an application, we show that Kolmogorov's strong law of larger numbers holds for independent and identically distributed random variables under a continuous sub-linear expectation if and only if the corresponding Choquet integral is finite.

Abstract:For the sequence of ρ˜-mixing identically distributed random variables, we show two general strong laws of large numbers (SLLNs) in which the coefficient of sum and the weight are both general functions, and as a consequence we obtain the Marcinkiewicz SLLN. Abstract:In this paper, we first obtain a Bernstein type of concentration inequality for stochastic integrals of multivariate point processes under some conditions through the Doléans-Dade exponential formula, and then derive a uniform exponential inequality using a generic chaining argument. As a direct consequence, we obtain an upper bound for a sequence of discrete time martingales indexed by a class of functionals. Finally, we apply the uniform exponential bound to nonparametric maximum likelihood estimators and provide a rate of convergence in terms of Hellinger distance, which is an improvement of earlier work of van de Geer (1995).

Abstract:In this paper we obtain weak laws of large numbers (WLLNs) for arrays of random variables under the uniform Cesàro-type condition. As corollary, we obtain the result of Hong and Oh [Hong, D. H., Oh, K. S., 1995. On the weak law of large numbers for arrays. Statist. Probab. Lett. 22, 55–57]. Furthermore, we obtain a WLLN for an Lp-mixingale array without the conditions that the mixingale is uniformly integrable and the Lp-mixingale numbers decay to zero at a special rate.

Abstract:The central limit theorem of martingales is the fundamental tool for studying the convergence of stochastic processes, especially stochastic integrals and differential equations. In this paper, the central limit theorem and the functional central limit theorem are obtained for martingale-like random variables under the sub-linear expectation. As applications, the Lindeberg’s central limit theorem is obtained for independent but not necessarily identically distributed random variables, and a new proof of the Lévy characterization of a GBrownian motion without using stochastic calculus is given. For proving the results, Rosenthal’s inequality and the exponential inequality for the martingale-like random variables are established.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish novel deviation bounds for additive functionals of geometrically ergodic Markov chains similar to Rosenthal and Bernstein inequalities for sums of independent random variables. We pay special attention to the dependence of our bounds on the mixing time of the corresponding chain. More precisely, we establish explicit bounds that are linked to the constants from the martingale version of the Rosenthal inequality, as well as the constants that characterize the mixing properties of the underlying Markov kernel. Finally, our proof technique is, up to our knowledge, new and based on a recurrent application of the Poisson decomposition.

Abstract:The exponential inequality of the maximum partial sums is a key to establish the law of the iterated logarithm of negatively associated random variables. In the one-indexed random sequence case, such inequalities for negatively associated random variables are established by Shao (2000) by using his comparison theorem between negatively associated and independent random variables. In the multi-indexed random field case, the comparison theorem fails. The purpose of this paper is to establish the Kolmogorov exponential inequality as well a moment inequality of the maximum partial sums of a negatively associated random field via a different method. By using these inequalities, the sufficient and necessary condition for the law of the iterated logarithm of a negatively associated random field to hold is obtained.

Abstract:This article mainly investigates the complete convergence and complete moment convergence for weighted sums of random variables satisfying generalized Rosenthal type inequalities, which improves the corresponding ones of the literature. As an application, we further research the errors-in-variables (EV, for short) regression models and exhibit the strong consistency for the least square (LS, for short) estimators. In addition, simulation studies are conducted to verify the finite sample performance of theoretical results.
