Abstract:The reasons of introducing Co,Mn,Br catalyst in the reaction and the catalytic mechanism are discussed.The high selectivity and high activity of Amoco process catalyst system are obtained with the synergistic effect of Co/Mn/Br.In HAc solvent,the whole free-radical chain reaction is initiated by Co 3+ with high oxidation ability.But as the temperature is high(130℃),Co 3+ will strong decarboxylate,the selectivity,activity of it will sharp decreased with the increasing of temperature.Br will complexation with Co,the half period of Co 3+ will be reduced,decarboxylate will be weakened.When Co is replaced by Mn in same amount of subslance,the oxidation speed of PT will increased 4.3 times,the activity of Co/Mn/Br system is 11 times than that of Co/Mn system.

Abstract:According to the Group Structure Adaptable Theory of catalyst design, several catalysts for propane ammoxidation were prepared and tested. The experiment was focused on VSbWSn (P, K, Cr, Mo) catalytic system. The experimental results showed: a) V is the strong oxidation active site of the catalyst. Sb is the selectivity active site, it can introduce N to the intermediate forming acrylonitrile, while W and Sn are poor oxidation and dehydrogenation active sites respectively. b) P can reduce the oxidation of the catalyst and K is used to adapt the acid structure of the catalyst surface. Cr is used to increase the dehydrogenation step in propane ammoxidation and Mo can transfer the intermediate to acrylonitrile.

Abstract:The effects of forced periodic oscillation of oxygen concentration on the propylene ammoxidation reaction over a Mo-Bi catalyst were investigated in a continuous flow micro-fixed bed reactor at 440℃. The propylene conversion, acrylonitrile selectivity and periodic average yield were studied with various forced oscillation patterns and compared with the results of steady-state operation ,which is the condition of industrial operation. The results show that the periodic average yield of acrylonitrile under any forced periodic oscillation of oxygen concentration among this experimental conditions,thus obtained could higher than that under the steady-state condition.A better forced periodic oscillation condition was that the low ratio of oxygen with propylene 9.0,operation time 210 min, and the high ratio 10.5, operation time 60 min. Operating under this condition, the periodic average yield of acrylonitrile reached 80.70%,increased about 2.3% compared with the acrylonitrile yield of steady-state operation.

Abstract:The effects of the available zoon above the catalyst bed on the performance of the catalyst were investigated. It has been suggested that propylene is an intermediate species in the reaction of propane to acrolem, and a two-step reaction scheme is proposed, the first step is oxidative dehydrogenation of propane to propylene in the gas phase then followed by the second step, the selective oxidation of propylene to acrolein on the surface of the catalyst. The performance of the catalyst depends on both the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane to propylene in the gas phase and the selective oxidation of propylene to acrolein on the catalyst surface. The thermal cracking, homogeneous oxidative dehydrogenation and heterogeneous catalytic dehydrogenation of propane as well as the selective catalytic oxidation of propane to acrolein Over BiMoO based mixed oxides catalysts were studied. Under the optimum reaction conditions of propane dehydrogenation and selective oxidation of propylene, the selectivity and the yield of acrolein approached to 45mol% and 14mol%, respectively under about 30mol% propane conversion.

Abstract:The direct oxidation of propane to acrylic acid has become a hot spot in catalytic oxidation of light alkanes in recent years. The MoVTe ( Sb) NbO mixed metal oxide catalysts are the most important catalysts for this reaction. This article intends to review recent progress in preparation methodologies and in understanding vital crystalline structures which are closely related to catalytic performance. The latest knowledge on the functions of the constituent elements in the catalysts is summarized in terms of the reaction pathways of propane oxidation. It is recognized that modification of particle size and morphology, phase composition and structure, surface acidity and redox property of catalyst are critical to achieve superb catalyst performance and stability.

Abstract:A series of MgMn/ZrO2 catalysts with different Mn loadings were prepared by an impregnation method. The catalysts were used for the synthesis of acrylonitrile from acetonitrile and methanol. The addition of a suitable amount of Mn exhibited promoting effects on both the activity and the selectivity to acrylonitrile formation. The optimum Mn-content was determined to be Mn/Zr=0.2 (molar ratio), over which the acrylonitrile yield could reach 13.6%. Based on various characterizations, such as XRD, XPS, SEM, CO2-TPD and nitrogen physisorption, the promoting effect of the Mn-dopant on the catalytic property was mainly attributed to the presence of Mg2MnO4 and the strong(ly) basic site. However, at high Mn content, the activity decreased due to the coverage of the active sites by inactive Mn2O3 and the weak basicity of the catalysts.

Abstract:Based on the in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS), the intermediates and mechanisms of propylene ammoxidation were deeply investigated. The DRIFT spectra show that the formation of surface allylic species (1487 cm-1), which is derived from α-hydrogen abstraction of propylene, is the rate controlling step of the propylene ammoxidation. Through the study of the DRIFT spectra, the existence of four kinds of ammonia intermediate species on the catalyst surface can be found as follows: (ⅰ) the dissociation of the ammonia chemisorbed on the catalyst surface can take place with the formation of NH2 species (1553 cm-1); (ⅱ) complete proton transfer can occur with the formation of NH4+ ion (1659 cm-1 and 1443 cm-1) on Brφ nsted acid sites; (ⅲ) ammonia coordination intermediate (1257 cm-1) forms on Lewis acid sites, which plays a crucial role in the formation of acrylonitrile from acrolein via partial oxidation of propylene; (ⅳ) molybedenum-imido species (Mo=NH) (1029 cm-1) on catalyst surface is preliminary confirmed as the intermediate formed during the formation of acrylonitrile from the direct ammoxidation of propylene. It was found that there are two synthetic routes for the synthesis of acrylonitrile: the one is the direct ammoxidation of propylene, the mechanism of which is based on the Grasselli model; and the other is the addition reaction of the ammonia coordinated intermediate with acrolein produced via propylene selective oxidation. The above results not only make the mechanisms of propylene ammoxidation clear, but also improve the recognition of the role played by acrolein in the propylene ammoxidation.
The effect of support SIAL on V-Sb-O catalyst for propane ammoxidation

Abstract:The effect of support SIAL on V-Sb-O catalyst for propane ammoxidation was investigated. It was found that 1) there is an optimal ratio of Al2O3 and SiO2 in the support, when Al2O3/SiO2 ratio ranges between 2. 0-2. 5, the catalyst gives highest yield of acrylonitrile. 2) As the amount of support increases, the surface and pore volume of the catalyst increase steadily. This increases in activity of the catalyst. When the weight ratio of the sum of active components to the support is close to 1. 5, the yield of acrylonitrile can reach as high as 50%.

Abstract:Propene ammoxidation to acrylonitrile (ACN) over bismuth molybdate-based catalysts has been commercialized for more than 60 years. To meet forecasted growth, there is an opportunity for smaller-scale, decentralized ACN production. Forced dynamic operation (FDO), here referring to step changes in reactant inlet concentrations, has been used in low-volume production applications and has shown advantages in partial oxidation reactions. As a proof-of-concept study to evaluate FDO for acrylonitrile production, we applied periodic changes in inlet gas concentrations that varied between one phase containing all reactants and another that just contained O 2 , over an industrial bismuth molybdate-based catalyst. We varied the cycle period, duty cycle, and O 2 concentration in the second phase and show that improved acrylonitrile yields can be obtained compared with those of steady-state operation under certain conditions. A correlation between lattice oxygen availability and FDO performance was observed.

Abstract:The composite solid oxide super acid Pt-SO4 2- /ZrO2-Al2O3 catalyst was prepared, and its structure, surface properties and catalytic activities for n-butane isomerization reaction were investigated by XRD, XPS, SEM, FT-IR. The results showed that the optimum A12O3 loading in the catalyst made ZrO2 tetragonal phase stable, prevented the transformation of ZrO2 from tetragonal phase to monoclinic phase. Pt doping on SO 4 2- /ZrO2-Al2O3 improved the catalytic activities for n-butane isomerization reaction. When the content of Al was 1.5% in the catalyst, the yield of i-butane was 37%, and its selectivity reached 70% above.

Abstract:The bulk mixed MoV(Te,Sb)(Nb,Ta)O catalysts containing nanoscale intergrowths of so-called M1 and M2 phases display uniquely high reactivity in propane ammoxidation to acrylonitrile associated with the surface ab planes of the M1 phase. The current controversy surrounding this catalytic system is focused on the role of the M2 phase, which is unable to activate propane but was suggested in some studies to function in synergy with the M1 phase by efficiently converting the propylene intermediate to acrylonitrile. The present study systematically examined the catalytic behavior of pure M1 phases prepared by selective dissolution of the M2 phase in MoV(Te,Sb)(Nb,Ta)O catalysts in aqueous hydrogen peroxide. It confirmed that the MoV(Te,Sb)(Nb,Ta)O M1 phases are highly active and selective for propane and propylene ammoxidation, while the MoV(Te,Sb)(Nb,Ta)O M2 phases were active and selective in propylene ammoxidation only. Most importantly, the kinetic study of the MoV(Te,Sb)(Nb,Ta)O M1 and M2 phases in propylene ammoxidation revealed for the very first time that that the M2 phases are significantly less active than the M1 phase in propylene ammoxidation. The findings of this study do not support the existence of the synergy effect for any M1/M2 compositional variant. Instead, the observed behavior of MoV(Te,Sb)(Nb,Ta)O catalysts was consistent with partial loss of some surface active species from the M1 phase surface during the H2O2 treatment and generation of fresh ab planes of the M1 phase via mechanical grinding of the H2O2-treated M1 phase. These findings provided further evidence that the M1 phase is the only phase required for the activity and selectivity of the MoV(Te,Sb)(Nb,Ta)O catalysts in propane ammoxidation to ACN.

Abstract:Vanadium phosphorus oxides (VPOs) fabricated by employing poly ethylene glycol (PEG) additive were used as catalysts for efficient conversion of acetic acid (methyl acetate) and formaldehyde to acrylic acid (methyl acrylate). The highest formation rate (19.8 mu mol g(cat)(-1) min(-1)) of desired products (acrylic acid + methyl acrylate) was accomplished over a VPO catalyst comprising mainly vanadyl pyrophosphate ((VO)(2)P2O7) and vanadyl phosphate in 5 form (delta-VOPO4). This catalyst is nearly three times more active than the analogue reported in literature. The VP0 catalyst activated in 1.5% butane-air is superior to that activated in air or nitrogen. Different from the PEG-derived VPO catalysts for n-butane oxidation to maleic anhydride, a better VPO catalyst for the current reaction requires a higher fraction of delta-VOPO4 entity and contains the medium strong acid sites of high density. Through systematic catalyst characterizations and evaluations, an unambiguous correlation between catalyst structure/constitution and performance was established. (C) 2014 Elsevier Inc. Abstract:In this paper, a new computer-aided technique was presented, with which the experimental procedure of developing catalysts is scheduled sequentially. In each sequential step the neural networks model and multi-objective optimization are used to determine optimal design for the next experiment. The sequential method proved very efficient in developing catalysts for propane ammoxidation to acrylonitrile. And the yield of acrylonitrile corresponding to the best catalyst was up to 58.9%.

Abstract:A model catalyst composed of crystalline potassium pentavanadate (K3V5O14) supported on silica was studied to elucidate the effect of phase transitions on the performance of potassium‐promoted vanadia catalysts in propane oxidation. Operando calorimetry shows a clear correlation between an extinction of activity and increase in selectivity to propylene upon melting of the crystalline K3V5O14 phase, which itself is not active in the solid state. Importantly, the melt itself, i.e., the K3V5O14 phase in the liquid state, also has no oxidative effect. The measured activity mainly originates from highly‐active, i.e., unselective VxOy surface species anchored to silica and formed during synthesis in addition to the supported pentavanadate phase. Melting of K3V5O14 leads to the coverage of these VxOy species preventing the overoxidation of propylene and leading to an increase in propylene selectivity. The change in catalyst properties is therefore due to a physical effect and not to a change in the chemical properties of the predominant crystalline phase.

Experimental Study on Non-catalytic Partial Oxidation of Methane to Acetylene and Syngas

Abstract:The non-catalytic partial oxidation of methane under fuel-rich conditions was studied in a nozzle type reactor. The influences of preheating temperature, molar ratio of oxygen to CH4 and ethane and propane addition on the process were studied. The axial concentration profiles of species were measured with a mass spectrometer using a sampling probe that could be moved along the length of the reactor. The molar fraction of acetylene had a maximum value along axial distance, and increasing oxygen ratio led to decreasing of acetylene selectivity. Increasing the preheating temperature is favorable to acetylene production and the concentration of acetylene Was 4.52% when preheating temperature reached 620°C. Addition of ethane and propane resulted in the same amount of acetylene with less methane consumption. In the experimental conditions the axial distance of maximum acetylene molar fraction was kept in 80 mm unchanged.

Abstract:PtSn/Al2O3 and PtSnSr/Al2O3 were prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation method. The added Sn and Sr are uniformly distributed on the surface without damaging the original crystal structure and surface texture properties. The addition of Sn not only changes the dispersion of Pt, reduces the reduction temperature of Pt, but also provides electrons to Pt, increases the electron cloud density on the surface of Pt, and reduces the deep propylene adsorption. The addition of Sr reduces the number of total acid sites and strong acid sites, reduces the generation of adverse effects and carbon deposition, slows down the deactivation of the catalyst, and improves the selectivity of propylene. Pt1.5Sn1.5Sr/Al2O3 showed the best catalytic reaction performance and remained stable after five cycles of regeneration.Graphical Abstract
