Abstract:We propose an algebraic expression for $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_3)$ quantum $3j$ symbols (quantum Clebsch-Gordan coefficients) appearing in the decomposition of tensor product of symmetric representations. Our compact form will be useful to write the spectral parameter dependent $R$-matrix elements for any bi-partite vertex model whose edges carry states of the symmetric representations.

Abstract:We consider a generalized model with SU(3)-invariant R-matrix, and review the nested Bethe Ansatz for constructing eigenvectors of the transfer matrix. A sum formula for the scalar product between generic Bethe vectors, originally obtained by Reshetikhin [11], is discussed. This formula depends on a certain partition function Z(\{\lambda\},\{\mu\}|\{w\},\{v\}), which we evaluate explicitly. In the limit when the variables \{\mu\} or \{v\} approach infinity, this object reduces to the domain wall partition function of the six-vertex model Z(\{\lambda\}|\{w\}). Using this fact, we obtain a new expression for the off-shell scalar product (between a generic Bethe vector and a Bethe eigenvector), in the case when one set of Bethe variables tends to infinity. The expression obtained is a product of determinants, one of which is the Slavnov determinant from SU(2) theory. It extends a result of Caetano [13].

Abstract:In this paper, we solve one-dimensional SU(3) bosons with repulsive delta-function interaction using the Bethe ansatz method. The features of the ground and low-lying excited states are studied by both numerical and analytical methods. We show that the ground state is a SU(3) colour ferromagnetic state. The configurations of quantum numbers for the ground state are given explicitly. For a finite N system, the spectra of low-lying excitations and the dispersion relations of four possible elementary particles (holon, antiholon, sigma-coloron and omega-coloron) are obtained by solving the Bethe ansatz equation numerically. The thermodynamic equilibrium of the system at finite temperature is studied by using the strategy of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz; we give a revised Gaudin-Takahashi equation which is useful for the numerical method. Thermodynamic quantities, such as specific heat, are obtained for some special cases. We find that the magnetic property of the model in the high-temperature regime is dominated by Curie's law, chi proportional to 1/T, and the system has Fermi-liquid-like specific heat in the strong coupling limit at low temperature.

Abstract:The so called Gell-Mann or decontraction formula is proposed as an algebraic expression inverse to the Inonu-Wigner Lie algebra contraction. It is tailored to express the Lie algebra elements in terms of the corresponding contracted ones. In the case of sl(n,R) and su(n) algebras, contracted w.r.t. so(n) subalgebras, this formula is generally not valid, and applies only in the cases of some algebra representations. A generalization of the Gell-Mann formula for sl(n,R) and su(n) algebras, that is valid for all tensorial, spinorial, (non)unitary representations, is obtained in a group manifold framework of the SO(n) and/or Spin(n) group. The generalized formula is simple, concise and of ample application potentiality. The matrix elements of the SL(n,R)/Spin(n), i.e. SU(n)/SO(n), generators are determined, by making use of the generalized formula, in a closed form for all irreducible representations.

Abstract:The ladder operator formalism of a general quantum state for su(1, 1) Lie algebra is obtained. The state bears the generally deformed oscillator algebraic structure. It is found that the Perelomov's coherent state is a su(1, 1) nonlinear coherent state. The expansion and the exponential form of the nonlinear coherent state are given. We obtain the matrix elements of the su(1, 1) displacement operator in terms of the hypergeometric functions and the expansions of the displaced number states and Laguerre polynomial states are followed. Finally some interesting su(1, 1) optical systems are discussed.

Abstract:An orthogonal basis of the Hilbert space for the quantum spin chain associated with the su(3) algebra is introduced. Such kind of basis could be treated as a nested generalization of separation of variables (SoV) basis for high-rank quantum integrable models. It is found that all the monodromy-matrix elements acting on a basis vector take simple forms. With the help of the basis, we construct eigenstates of the su(3) inhomogeneous spin torus (the trigonometric su(3) spin chain with antiperiodic boundary condition) from its spectrum obtained via the off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz (ODBA). Based on small sites (i.e. N=2) check, it is conjectured that the homogeneous limit of the eigenstates exists, which gives rise to the corresponding eigenstates of the homogenous model.

Abstract:The well known analytical formula for $SU(2)$ matrices $U = \exp(i \vec \tau \!\cdot\! \vec \varphi\,) = \cos|\vec \varphi\,| + i\vec \tau \!\cdot\! \hat\varphi \, \sin|\vec \varphi\,|$\\ is extended to the $SU(3)$ group with eight real parameters. The resulting analytical formula involves the sum over three real roots of a cubic equation, corresponding to the so-called irreducible case, where one has to employ the trisection of an angle. When going to the special unitary group $SU(4)$ with 15 real prameters, the analytical formula involves the sum over four real roots of a quartic equation. The associated cubic resolvent equation with three positive roots belongs again to the irreducible case. Furthermore, by imposing the pertinent condition on $SU(4)$ matrices one can also treat the symplectic group $Sp(2)$ with ten real parameters. Since there the roots occur as two pairs of opposite sign, this simplifies the analytical formula for $Sp(2)$ matrices considerably. An outlook to the situation with analytical formulas for $SU(5)$, $SU(6)$ and $Sp(3)$ is also given.
