Abstract:The su(2)-algebraic many-fermion model is formulated so as to be able to get the unified understanding of the structures of three simple models: the single-level pairing, the isoscalar proton-neutron pairing and the two-level Lipkin model. Basic idea is to introduce an auxiliary su(2)-algebra, any generator of which commutes with any generator of the starting su(2)-algebra. With the aid of this algebra, the minimum weight states are completely determined in a simple forms. Further, concerning the two algebras, boson realization is presented. Through this formulation, the behavior of the total fermion in the Lipkin model is notably different of those in the other two models. As supplementary problem, the boson-fermion realization and the Lipkin model in the isovector pairing model are investigated.

Abstract:The Holstein-Primakoff representation for the su(2)-algebra is derived in the deformed boson scheme. The following two points are discussed: (i) the connection between a simple Hamiltonian and the Hamiltonian obeying the su(2)-algebra, such as the Hamiltonian of the Lipkin model and (ii) derivation of the Hamiltonian for describing the damped and amplified motion for the su(2)-boson model.

Abstract:A possible form of the Lipkin model obeying the su(6)-algebra is presented. It is a natural generalization from the idea for the su(4)-algebra recently proposed by the present authors. All the relation appearing in the present form can be expressed in terms of the spherical tensors in the su(2)-algebras. For specifying the linearly independent basis completely, twenty parameters are introduced. It is concluded that, in these parameters, the ten denote the quantum numbers coming from the eigenvalues of some hermitian operators. The five in these ten determine the minimum weight state.

Abstract:A unified method to construct the (multi-)boson realizations of the Lie and quantum algebras is proposed based on a universal deformation of bosom (Heisenberg-Weyl) algebra and its multiboson realization. Some explicit examples, the Lie algebras sl (2) and su (1,1), q-boson algebra, quantum algebras sl (2)(q) and su(1,1)(q), along with the q-ladder algebra are studied in detail. In particular, the square bosom realizations of su (1,1) and su (1,1)(q) are naturally obtained as special cases.

Abstract:Standing on the results for the minimum weight states obtained in the previous paper (I), an idea how to construct the linearly independent basis is proposed for the su(n)-Lipkin model. This idea starts in setting up m independent su(2)-subalgebras in the cases with n=2m and n=2m+1 (m=2,3,4,...). The original representation is re-formed in terms of the spherical tensors for the su(n)-generators built under the su(2)-subalgebras. Through this re-formation, the su(m)-subalgebra can be found. For constructing the linearly independent basis, not only the su(2)-algebras but also the su(m)-subalgebra play a central role. Some concrete results in the cases with n=2, 3, 4 and 5 are presented.

Abstract:By generalizing the Holstein-Primakoff realization and the Dyson realization of the Lie algebra SU(2), various realizations of the deformed angular momentum algebra $\mathcal{R}_{q,s}^{c_0 ,c_1 ,c_2 } $, a five-parameter deformed SU(2) by combining Witten’s two deformation schemes, are investigated in terms of the single boson and the single inversion boson respectively. For each kind, the unitary realization, the non-unitary realization, and their connection by the corresponding similarity transformation are respectively discussed.

Abstract:Basic idea presented in Parts (I) and (II) for the deformed boson scheme is applied to the case of the su(2,1)-algebra for describing many-body systems consisting of three kinds of boson operators. A possible form of the coherent state for the su(2,1)-algebra is generalized and the deformed su(2,1)-algebra is presented. As an application, the time-evolution of the statistically mixed state in a certain boson system, which has been already investigated by the present authors, is reinvestigated.

Abstract:In this paper two kinds of two-boson realizations of the polynomial angular momentum algebra are obtained by generalizing the well known Jordan-Schwinger realizations of the SU(2) and SU(1,1) algebras. Especially, for the Higgs algebra, an unitary realization and two nonunitary realizations, together with the properties of their respective acting spaces are discussed in detail. Furthermore, similarity transformations, which connect the nonunitary realizations with the unitary ones, are gained by solving the corresponding unitarization equations. As applications, the dynamical symmetry of the Kepler system in a two-dimensional curved space is studied and phase operators of the Higgs algebra are constructed.

Abstract:The minimum weight states of the Lipkin model consisting of n single-particle levels and obeying the su(n)-algebra are investigated systematically. The basic idea is to use the su(2)-algebra which is independent of the su(n)-algebra. This idea has been already presented by the present authors in the case of the conventional Lipkin model consisting of two single-particle levels and obeying the su(2)-algebra. If following this idea, the minimum weight states are determined for any fermion number occupying appropriately n single-particle levels. Naturally, the conventional minimum weight state is included: all fermions occupy energetically the lowest single-particle level in the absence of interaction. The cases n=2, 3, 4 and 5 are discussed in rather detail.

Abstract:The relation between two approaches to the su(2)-algebraic many-fermion model is discussed: (1) the BCS-Bogoliubov approach in terms of the use of the quasiparticles representing all the degrees of freedom except those related to the Cooper-pairs and (2) the conventional algebraic approach in terms of the use of the minimum weight states, from which the Cooper-pairs are excluded. In order to arrive at the goal, the idea of the quasiparticles is brought up in the conservation of the fermion number. Under the c-number replacement for the three su(2)-generators, the quasiparticles suggested in this paper are reduced to those in the BCS-Bogoliubov approach. It is also shown that the two approaches are equivalent through the c-number replacement. Further, a certain modification of the BCS-Bogoliubov approach is discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we solve one-dimensional SU(3) bosons with repulsive delta-function interaction using the Bethe ansatz method. The features of the ground and low-lying excited states are studied by both numerical and analytical methods. We show that the ground state is a SU(3) colour ferromagnetic state. The configurations of quantum numbers for the ground state are given explicitly. For a finite N system, the spectra of low-lying excitations and the dispersion relations of four possible elementary particles (holon, antiholon, sigma-coloron and omega-coloron) are obtained by solving the Bethe ansatz equation numerically. The thermodynamic equilibrium of the system at finite temperature is studied by using the strategy of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz; we give a revised Gaudin-Takahashi equation which is useful for the numerical method. Thermodynamic quantities, such as specific heat, are obtained for some special cases. We find that the magnetic property of the model in the high-temperature regime is dominated by Curie's law, chi proportional to 1/T, and the system has Fermi-liquid-like specific heat in the strong coupling limit at low temperature.

Abstract:Rotational $SU(3)$ algebraic symmetry continues to generate new results in the shell model (SM). Interestingly, it is possible to have multiple $SU(3)$ algebras for nucleons occupying an oscillator shell $\eta$. Several different aspects of the multiple $SU(3)$ algebras are investigated using shell model and also deformed shell model based on Hartree-Fock single particle states with nucleons in $sdg$ orbits giving four $SU(3)$ algebras. Results show that one of the $SU(3)$ algebra generates prolate shapes, one oblate shape and the other two also generate prolate shape but one of them gives quiet small quadrupole moments for low-lying levels. These are inferred by using the standard form for the electric quadrupole transition operator and using quadrupole moments and $B(E2)$ values in the ground $K=0^+$ band in three different examples. Multiple $SU(3)$ algebras extend to interacting boson model and using $sdg$IBM, the structure of the four $SU(3)$ algebras in this model are studied by coherent state analysis and asymptotic formulas for $E2$ matrix elements. The results from $sdg$IBM further support the conclusions from the $sdg$ shell model examples.

Abstract:Using the contraction of the SU(3) algebra to the algebra of the rigid rotator in the large boson number limit of the Interacting Boson Approximation (IBA) model, a line is found inside the symmetry triangle of the IBA, along which the SU(3) symmetry is preserved. The line extends from the SU(3) vertex to near the critical line of the first order shape/phase transition separating the spherical and prolate deformed phases, and lies within the Alhassid--Whelan arc of regularity, the unique valley of regularity connecting the SU(3) and U(5) vertices amidst chaotic regions. In addition to providing an explanation for the existence of the arc of regularity, the present line represents the first example of an analytically determined approximate symmetry in the interior of the symmetry triangle of the IBA. The method is applicable to algebraic models possessing subalgebras amenable to contraction. This condition is equivalent to algebras in which the equilibrium ground state (and its rotational band) become energetically isolated from intrinsic excitations, as typified by deformed solutions to the IBA for large numbers of valence nucleons.
