Abstract:A shear wall with CFST columns and embedded steel plate deep beams was proposed in this study. Two-stage experiments were carried out to investigate its seismic behavior and the reinforcement behavior after damage. Low cyclic loading test stage-I was applied until the displacement drift arrived at 1/50. The specimen was damaged obviously. After that, thinner steel plates were welded on both sides of the wall so as to strengthen the damaged specimen. Low cyclic loading test stage-II was then applied until the specimen failed. The load-bearing capacity, stiffness and its degradation process, ductility, energy dissipation and failure characteristics were discussed. Results show that, because the cracks on concrete strips are well controlled by the CFST boundary columns and the steel reinforced middle column, the ductility of the wall is improved; By setting the concealed steel plate deep beams, the load-bearing capacity and the later stiffness are improved greatly; the boundary areas between concrete strips and CFST columns as well as steel reinforced middle column formed the vertical energy dissipation strips and consume the energy during the back and forth movement; after damage and strengthening, the new wall still has enough seismic capacity and good energy dissipation capacity, and it is easy to be repaired after earthquake.
