Abstract:A compact Er:fiber ring laser operated at a fundamental repetition rate of 325 MHz is reported. Two gain fibers with opposite dispersion are employed to shorten the fiber laser cavity for high repetition rate and soliton-like pulse generation without losing gain and compactness. The spectral bandwidth of the output pulse is 24 nm and the direct pulse duration is 123 fs without extra-cavity compression, which are values near the transform-limited range.

Abstract:High-repetition-rate fiber laser has widely applications in the field of femtosecond frequency comb, ultra-fast optical sampling, and so on. In this paper, an Er-doped femtosecond fiber laser with a repetition rate of 303 MHz is demonstrated based on the mechanism of nonlinear polarization rotation. By means of optimization of cavity dispersion, the net dispersion in fiber cavity is a little negative nearby zero point. After mode locking, the laser is operating in the stretched-pulse regime. At a pump power of 817 mW, the output power of the laser is 125 mW in continue-wave state, and 69 mW in mode-locking state. The laser directly generates 90 fs before dispersion compensation. Mode locking can self-start at the pump power of 700-817 mW. Repetition rate drift of the mode-locked laser is 30 Hz in five hours.

Abstract:We report on a compact passive mode-locked Er:fiber ring laser operated at the fundamental repetition rate of 517 MHz, which we believe is the highest fundamental repetition rate ever reported in a ring cavity fiber laser. The key technique is the employment of two innovative high-power wavelength domain multiplexer collimators with all gain fiber cavity suited for the high power (up to 2 W) pumping. The laser is featured with a direct chirpfree output pulse, which is 97 fs without extracavity compression at an average output power of 90 mW.

Abstract:We demonstrate 503MHz fundamental high repetition rate operation in a ring cavity passively mode-locked Yb:fiber laser incorporating a novel wavelength-division-multiplexing collimator and a piece of all-solid photonic bandgap fiber. The Yb doped fiber was directly fabricated as one fiber pigtail into the functional collimator, greatly shortening the cavity length and facilitating the splicing operation. A 5cm long photonic bandgap fiber with abnormal dispersion at the lasing wavelength (centered at 1030nm) decreases the net dispersion for shorter output pulses. The spectral bandwidth of the pulse was 34nm. The direct output pulse was measured to be 156fs and the dechirped pulse was about 76fs. With this innovative Yb:fiber pigtailed WDM collimator, the ring cavity laser has the potential to work at a repetition rate up to GHz.

Abstract:A multi-wavelength erbium-doped fiber laser with a simple line-structure is achieved by employing a Sagnac interferometer. It is demonstrated to be quite stable at room temperature due to the four-wave mixing effect in the dispersion-shifted fiber inserted in the laser cavity.

Abstract:Multiwavelength dispersion-tuned actively mode-locked erbium-doped fibre ring laser is demonstrated by incorporating a section of highly nonlinear fibre (HNLF) in the laser cavity. The HNLF and the time gate element (modulator) in the fibre laser successfully suppress the gain competition in the erbium-doped fibre, and thus enable multiwavelength operation. Simultaneous generation of 10 GHz pulses up to eight different wavelengths is achieved. Wavelength, spacing and modes number tuning are investigated by changing fibre cavity length, dispersion, and erbium-doped fibre amplifier power, respectively.

Abstract:We demonstrate a Yb:fiber ring laser incorporating a piece of solid-core photonic bandgap fiber for intra-cavity group delay dispersion compensation. Abstract:Simulation and experimental results for high repetition rate all-normal dispersion Yb:fiber ring lasers are demonstrated for the cavity dispersion from 0.01 to 0.025 ps 2 .The simulation shows that the pulse spectrum has the potential to reach>30 nm for the dispersion of 0.014 ps 2 under practical pump power. This potential is proved by the experiment.Maximum spectral width of 30 nm is achieved at the repetition rate of 285 MHz under the 850-mW pump power.Average output power is 550 mW and dechirped pulse is 78 fs.

Abstract:Pulsed fiber lasers with high repetition rates play a crucial role in applications such as high-efficiency processing and bio-optical imaging. However, many ring fiber mode-locked lasers primarily focus on shortening the cavity length to achieve high repetition rate pulse output. Attention is often directed towards the gain fiber and cavity structure, with less consideration given to the challenge of increasing mode-locking threshold power. In this study, we present a high-repetition-rate annular all-fiber laser system with dispersion management. Through strategic adjustment of the intracavity dispersion away from the near-zero dispersion region and careful control of the intracavity gain strength, we have successfully lowered the mode-locking threshold power. This approach can generate pulses with a repetition rate of 439.71 MHz and a mode-locking threshold power of approximately 600 mW. Following pulse compression, the achieved pulse width is 94.8 fs. Its time-bandwidth product is 0.368. To our knowledge, this represents the highest fundamental repetition rate currently attained using a ring all-fiber resonator, accompanied by the lowest mode-locking threshold. Our work introduces a ring fiber laser system characterized by a low mode-locking threshold and a high repetition rate, offering a valuable method for achieving higher fundamental repetition rate pulses.

Abstract:A stable mode-locked fiber ring laser with large dispersion cavity is demonstrated. In this laser, the instability caused by cavity is length excursion is suppressed. At the same time, the super mode noise is suppressed too. A 10 GHz mode locked erbium-doped fiber ring laser using a large dispersion cavity is developed, in which the pulse repetition rate is 10 GHz with the form of sech2 profile, the pulse width (FWHM) measured by autocorrelation meter is 7.6 ps, and the time-bandwidth product is approximately 0.335.

Abstract:In this paper we report the fabrication of a robust, tunable single-longitudinal-mode compound-ring Er/sup 3+/-doped fiber laser. The laser is fundamentally structured on an all-fiber compound-ring resonator in which a dual-coupler fiber ring is inserted into the main cavity. When combined in tandem with a mode-restricting intracavity tunable bandpass filter, the compound-ring resonator ensures single-longitudinal-mode laser oscillation. The laser can provide up to 20 mW output power over much of its 1525 to 1570 nm wavelength tuning range. The short-term linewidth of the laser output measured is less than 5 kHz. The laser frequency is actively stabilized for a long time by exploiting the inherent filter nature of the compound-ring resonator. The reduction of an associated frequency modulation is also discussed in detail.

Abstract:An ultrafast fiber laser system comprising two coherently combined amplifier channels is reported. Within this system, each channel incorporates a rod-type fiber power amplifier, with individual operations reaching approximately 233 W. The active-locking of these coherently combined channels, followed by compression using gratings, yields an output with a pulse energy of 504 μJ and an average power of 403 W. Exceptional stability is maintained, with a 0.3% root mean square (RMS) deviation and a beam quality factor M 2 < 1.2. Notably, precise dispersion management of the front-end seed light effectively compensates for the accumulated high-order dispersion in subsequent amplification stages. This strategic approach results in a significant reduction in the final output pulse duration for the coherently combined laser beam, reducing it from 488 to 260 fs after the gratings compressor, while concurrently enhancing the energy of the primary peak from 65% to 92%.
