Abstract:We introduce and study some operators and functions induced by a quasisymmetric homeomorphism. By means of these operators and functions, we study when a quasisymmetric homeomorphism is symmetric or even belongs to the Weil-Petersson class.

Abstract:We study the quasisymmetric geometry of the Julia sets of McMullen maps fλ(z) = zm + λ/zℓ, where λ ∈ ℂ {0} and ℓ and m are positive integers satisfying 1/ℓ+1/m < 1. If the free critical points of fλ are escaped to the infinity, we prove that the Julia set Jλ of fλ is quasisymmetrically equivalent to either a standard Cantor set, a standard Cantor set of circles or a round Sierpiński carpet (which is also standard in some sense). If the free critical points are not escaped, we give a suffcient condition on λ such that Jλ is a Sierpiński carpet and prove that most of them are quasisymmetrically equivalent to some round carpets. In particular, there exist infinitely renormalizable rational maps whose Julia sets are quasisymmetrically equivalent to the round carpets.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish several characterizations of freely quasiconformal mappings in Banach spaces in terms of quasisymmetry in the quasihyperbolic metric. This provides a partial solution to an open problem posed by Väisälä. Also, we consider the special case when the control function satisfies η(t)≤Mt for some M≥1.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish six necessary and sufficient conditions for a homeomorphism of onto itself to be strongly quasisymmetric. These conditions are quantitative in terms of conformal moduli of disjoint continua as well as the geometric modulus, which was recently introduced by Tukia and Väisälä. Note that all of them are equivalent to bilipschitz continuity with parameters depending also on two fixed points. As an application, we obtain several quantitative characterizations for a homeomorphism of the Riemann sphere onto itself to be strongly quasimöbius.

Abstract:We study quasisymmetric maps, which act on the boundary of the hyperbolic plane, by looking at their action on the Farey triangulation. Our main results identify exactly which quasisymmetric maps correspond to pinched lambda lengths in terms of shearing coordinates and, separately, in terms of (simultaneous) flip distance of the Farey triangulation and its image by the map. These extend and clarify previous results of Penner and Sullivan.

Abstract:The Schur functions, a basis for the symmetric polynomials (Sym), encode the irreducible representations of the symmetric group, $\mathfrak{S}_n$, via the Frobenius characteristic map. In 1996, Krob and Thibon defined a quasisymmetric Frobenius map on the representations of $\mathcal{H}_n(0)$, mapping them to the quasisymmetric functions (QSym). Despite the obvious inclusion of Sym in QSym and the close relationship between $\mathfrak{S}_n$ and $\mathcal{H}_n(0)$, there is no known direct link between these two Frobenius characteristic maps and the related representations. We explore three specific situations in which a deformation of an $\mathfrak{S}_n$ action results in a valid $\mathcal{H}_n(0)$ action and gives a quasisymmetric Frobenius characteristic that is equal to the symmetric Frobenius characteristic. We introduce the concept of quasisymmetric compatibility, which formalizes a link between the two maps, and we show it applies to all $\mathfrak{S}_n$-modules.

Abstract: Determination of quasi-invariant generalized functions is important for a variety of problems in representation theory, notably character theory and restriction problems. In this note, we review some new and easy-to-use techniques to show vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions, developed in the recent work of the authors (Uniqueness of Ginzburg-Rallis models: the Archimedean case, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 363, (2011), 2763-2802). The first two techniques involve geometric notions attached to submanifolds, which we call metrical properness and unipotent $\chi$-incompatibility. The third one is analytic in nature, and it arises from the first occurrence phenomenon in Howe correspondence. We also highlight how these techniques quickly lead to two well-known uniqueness results, on trilinear forms and Whittaker models.

Abstract:We consider some class of homeomorphisms of domains of Euclidean space, which are more general than quasiconformal mappings. For these homeomorphisms, we have obtained theorems on local behavior of it's inverse mappings in a given domain. Under some additional conditions, we proved results about behavior of mappings mentioned above in the closure of the domain.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of local orthogonality preserving operators to study the right-symmetry of operators. As a consequence of our work, we show that any smooth compact operator defined on a smooth and reflexive Banach space is either a rank one operator or it is not right-symmetric. We show that there are no right-symmetric smooth compact operators defined on a smooth and reflexive Banach space that fails to have any non-zero left-symmetric point. We also study approximately orthogonality preserving and reversing operators (in the sense of Chmieliński and Dragomir). We show that on a finite-dimensional Banach space, an operator is approximately orthogonality preserving (reversing) in the sense of Dragomir if and only if it is an injective operator.

Abstract:Our objective is to usher and investigate the subclass$\widetilde{\mathcal{S^{*}_{\sum}}}^{\eta}_{q}(\mu,\lambda;\phi)$ of the function class $\sum$ of analytic and bi-univalent functions related with the symmetric $q$-derivative operator and the generalized Bernardi integral operator. On the one hand, without the generalized Bernardi integral operator we estimate the second Hankel determinants for the reduced subclasses $\widetilde{\mathcal{S^{*}_{\sum}}}_{q}(\lambda;\phi)$ with respect to symmetric points. On the other hand, we also give the corresponding results of Fekete-Szegö functional inequalities and the upper bounds of the coefficients $a_2$ and $a_3$ for these subclasses.

A Class of Homeomorphisms on Homogeneous Spaces of a Group Action

Abstract:We develop a class of homeomorphisms on a compact homogeneous space of a transitive group action and show how the class sheds new light on a decomposition problem. We further use this class to show that every such homogeneous space in a locally convex topological vector space which is also convex must necessarily be trivial, ie. a singleton set. Additionally, this class of homeomorphisms allows us to relate the induced group action on the space of continuous functions to the action on the homogeneous space.
