Abstract:This paper is a continuation work of the author’s on μ(z)-homeomorphisms. We establish similar relationships between quasisymmetric function and dilatation function as in quasiconformal mappings under μ(z)-homeomorphisms. Furthermore, a weighted quasiisometric inequality is presented.

Abstract:We study the quasisymmetric geometry of the Julia sets of McMullen maps fλ(z) = zm + λ/zℓ, where λ ∈ ℂ {0} and ℓ and m are positive integers satisfying 1/ℓ+1/m < 1. If the free critical points of fλ are escaped to the infinity, we prove that the Julia set Jλ of fλ is quasisymmetrically equivalent to either a standard Cantor set, a standard Cantor set of circles or a round Sierpiński carpet (which is also standard in some sense). If the free critical points are not escaped, we give a suffcient condition on λ such that Jλ is a Sierpiński carpet and prove that most of them are quasisymmetrically equivalent to some round carpets. In particular, there exist infinitely renormalizable rational maps whose Julia sets are quasisymmetrically equivalent to the round carpets.

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Abstract:The notion of non-decreasable dilatation for quasiconformal mappings, which was introduced by Edgar Reich, plays an important role in the theory of extremal quasiconformal mappings. It is an interesting open problem so far whether an extremal quasiconformal mapping with non-decreasable dilatation exists in every Teichmüller equivalence class. In this paper, we have partially solved this problem. It is proved that for every Teichmüller equivalence class [f], there exists an extremal quasiconformal mapping g in [f] with weakly non-decreasable dilatation.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish six necessary and sufficient conditions for a homeomorphism of onto itself to be strongly quasisymmetric. These conditions are quantitative in terms of conformal moduli of disjoint continua as well as the geometric modulus, which was recently introduced by Tukia and Väisälä. Note that all of them are equivalent to bilipschitz continuity with parameters depending also on two fixed points. As an application, we obtain several quantitative characterizations for a homeomorphism of the Riemann sphere onto itself to be strongly quasimöbius.

Abstract:In this paper we give a short survey on a problem on extremal quasiconformal extensions. It had been a conjecture for a long time that the dilatations K 0 ( h ) and K 1 ( h ) are equal before Anderson and Hinkkanen disproved this by constructing concrete examples of a family of affine mappings of some parallelograms. The problem also engendered many interesting results. At the end of the current paper, we discuss relationships among K 0 ( h ), H ( h ) and K 1 ( h ) as a concluding remark.

Abstract:The properties of the extremal sets of extremal quasiconformal mappings are discussed. It is proved that if an extremal Beltrami coefficient μ(z) is not uniquely extremal, then there exists an extremal Beltrami coefficient ?(z) in its equivalent class and a compact subset E ⊂ △ with positive measure such that the essential upper bound of ?(z) on E is less than the norm of [μ].

Abstract:In this paper, we consider and resolve a geometric problem by using μ(z)-homeomorphic theory, which is the generalization of quasiconformal mappings. A sufficient condition is given such that aC1-two-real-dimensional connected orientable manifold with almost positive definite metric can be made into a Riemann surface by the method of isothermal coordinates. The result obtained here is actually a generalization of Chern’s work in 1955.

Abstract:We give three sufficient criteria for two quasitoric manifolds (M,M') to be (weakly) equivariantly homeomorphic. We apply these criteria to count the weakly equivariant homeomorphism types of quasitoric manifolds with a given cohomology ring.

Abstract:The relationship between Strebel boundary dilatation of a quasisymmetric function h of the unit circle and the dilatation indicated by the change in the modules of the quadrilaterals with vertices on the circle intrigues many mathematicians. It had been a conjecture for some time that the dilatations K 0 ( h ) and K 1 ( h ) of h are equal before Anderson and Hinkkanen disproved this by constructing concrete counterexamples. The independent work of Wu and of Yang completely characterizes the condition for K 0 ( h ) = K 1 ( h ) when h has no substantial boundary point. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition to determine the equality for h admitting a substantial boundary point.

Abstract: Determination of quasi-invariant generalized functions is important for a variety of problems in representation theory, notably character theory and restriction problems. In this note, we review some new and easy-to-use techniques to show vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions, developed in the recent work of the authors (Uniqueness of Ginzburg-Rallis models: the Archimedean case, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 363, (2011), 2763-2802). The first two techniques involve geometric notions attached to submanifolds, which we call metrical properness and unipotent $\chi$-incompatibility. The third one is analytic in nature, and it arises from the first occurrence phenomenon in Howe correspondence. We also highlight how these techniques quickly lead to two well-known uniqueness results, on trilinear forms and Whittaker models.

Abstract:Given a quasi-symmetric self-homeomorphism h of the unit circle Sl, let Q(h) be the set of all quasiconformal mappings with the boundary correspondence h. In this paper, it is shown that there exists certain quasi-symmetric homeomorphism h, such that Q(h) satisfies either of the conditions,(1) Q(h) admits a quasiconformal mapping that is both uniquely locally-extremal and uniquely extremal-non-decreasable instead of being uniquely extremal;(2) Q(h) contains infinitely many quasiconformal mappings each of which has an extremal non-decreasable dilatation.An infinitesimal version of this result is also obtained.

Abstract:In this note, we study a gradient generalized m-quasi-Einstein manifold. That is, there exist two smooth functions f, λ$${\lambda}$$ such thatRij+fij-1mfifj=λgij,$$R_{ij}+f_{ij}-\frac{1}{m}f_if_j=\lambda g_{ij},$$where m is a constant. We first obtain some rigidity results on compact gradient generalized m-quasi-Einstein manifolds. Then, we obtain some classifications for the special gradient generalized m-quasi-Einstein manifolds under the assumption that the Bach tensor is flat. In particular, we obtain some even stronger results in dimension three.

Abstract:We study generalized quasiconformal mappings in the context of the inverse Poletsky inequality. We consider the local behavior and the boundary behavior of mappings with the inverse Poletsky inequality. In particular, we obtain logarithmic Hölder continuity for such classes of mappings.
