Abstract:Many studies have been done about the vibration character of fluid mechanics, but few of them have been conducted on the flow-induced vibration of valves. In this study, experimental research and numerical simulation are combined to investigate the flow-induced vibration of the preopening sleeve control valve. Pressure fluctuation near the valve's disc and the vibration character of the stem has been tested by the dynamic collection system in experiment. Then, numerical simulation is adopted to research the valve's internal flow field based on the experiment. According to the research, the following findings are concluded. First, the frequency components of pressure fluctuation changed with time and working conditions, but most of them are below 15 Hz. Second, pressure fluctuation near the valve's disc wall and the vibration amplitude of stem reached the maximum value in the condition of large opening. At this time, the frequency components of pressure fluctuation range is 3.8 similar to 4.1 Hz, which is resonated with the valve core components' first-order intrinsic frequency. Third, the structure of throttling hole and the valve's disc type line influenced the internal flow field obviously, and it is the main reason for flow-induced vibration of the valve. The results of this study are useful to researchers attempting to gain more understanding about flow-induced vibration of valves.
