Application of Indwelling Urinary Set System in Neurology for Male Urinary Incontinence Patients

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of neurological inpatients with male urinary incontinence undergoing indwelling urinary set system.Methods From September 2010 to September 2011,113 neurological inpatients with male urinary incontinence were divided into three groups based on the admission sequence to receive indwelling urinary set system,storage bag method and indwelling catheter,respectively.Results The incidences of the leakage of urine and skin lesions were significantly lower in the group with indwelling urinary set system than those with storage bag method and indwelling catheter(P<0.01).The incidences of Urinary tract damage and urinary tract infection were significantly lower in the group with indwelling urinary set system and storage bag method than those with indwelling catheter(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion Patients with male urinary incontinence treated with indwelling urinary set system contribute to avoiding invasive indwelling catheter,reducing the incidence of catheter-associated urinary tract infectionm,alleviating patients' pain and burden,and simultaneously solving the problems of leakage of urine and skin injury and providing comfort care to patients.
