Evidence based practice to improve the management of indwelling catheter after gynecological surgery

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the evidence-based practice of the management of indwelling catheter,and apply the best evidence of the management of indwelling catheter to nursing practice,and promote continuous improvement in the quality of clinical nursing through quality examination.Methods The quality control of indwelling catheterization management was completed in a gynecological ward from July,2015 to Oct.,2015.According to the 4 standard review guidelines based on the evidence from clinical practice,which were developed by the Australian Joanna Briggs Research Center (Joanna Briggs,Institute,JBI),the baseline review was performed on the indwelling urethral catheter and its corresponding scheme of evidence-based practice was developed.Using the JBI clinical evidence practice system,the existing best evidence was integrated into the nursing practice,and then the implementation of the review of the intervention was carried out.Results After the best evidence was introduced into nursing practice,the compliance of the four examination standards reached 100％,and the knowledge level of patients with indwelling catheterization after gynecological surgery was significantly improved.Conclusions The evidence-based nursing practice improved the nursing practice of catheter management,but more efforts are needed to make continuous improvement in the clinical practice process,so as to promote the quality of nursing.
