Process Characteristics for Solar Drying Poplar Lumber

Abstract:A new type of solar drying kiln,equipped with paraffin pipes to store energy,was developed in this study.The authors conducted a series of experiments to investigate the effect of solar drying kiln temperature and humidity on the lumber drying rate and temperature gradient.They found that the lumber drying rates should be changed according to the change of the solar drying kiln temperature and humidity.They suggested to control the drying speed as the kiln temperature increased and to speed up the drying rate when the kiln temperature was decreased.
