Abstract:Taking advantages of the modular nature of Linux, a set of Linux modules were improved to make Linux run on various SoC. The module improvement was including: developing a target-specific bootloader, designing a memory management module for the MMU-less processor, real-time improvement in scheduling module and organizing a small footprint file system for the flash memory. These modules can be reassembled on demands, catering for different boards and applications. Moreover, methods for developing embedded Linux are concluded, including tool chains and debug techniques. Case studies on two hardware platforms, based on ARM720T and M68K respectively, shown that the work satisfies application requirements.

Abstract:MDF remote intelligent supervisor system reduces administrators redundance and facilitates concentrating management of the distributed switching offices,which monitors malfunction of the remote office and transfers the messages to the center office. This system adopted ARM7TDMI-S3C44B0X as main processor produced by SAMSUNG Corp. The communication method between center machine and the remote one is based on Ethernet. The paper elaborates the system scheme and the realization of network communication.

Abstract:Most of embedded multiprocessor platforms are ideal for running diverse operating systems and implementing different applications. Inter-processor communication interface makes it possible for an embedded multi-processor system to easily support multiple subsystems parallel processing. This paper propose a kind of OS-level communication interface implementing method based-on HPI in the Complementary Multi-processor System and present the primary principles and corresponding DSP side code structure for HPI. Take a single-board embedded multimedia system which was integrated three embedded microprocessors (PXA255, TMS320DM642 and SM501) as hardware platform, detailed description of how implement tasks communication and data transform by HPI between different embedded OS(ARM-Linux and μC/OS-II) running on ARM and DSP separately.
