Abstract:This paper introduces the interrupt handling mechanism of real-time kernel and improvements to reduce interrupt disable time in μC/OS-Ⅲ.By contrasting μC/OS-Ⅱ and μC/OS-Ⅲ interrupt management approach,the paper analyzes the improvements of the μC/OS-Ⅲ.These improvements significantly enhance the real-time performance and the interrupt disable time is greatly reduced.

Abstract:To manage clock tick effectively and guarantee the real time performance of the system,μC/OS-Ⅲ employs a special internal task to manage clock tick and uses a hashed delta list mechanism to further reduce the time needed to accomplish clock tick management.Both problems of μC/OS-Ⅱ on the clock tick management and the effective clock tick management mechanism in μC/OS-Ⅲ are discussed.

Abstract:With the development of soccer robots, application of embedded real-time operating system (RTOS) in the control system of robots is attracting more and more considerable attention for meeting the increased requirements of complexity and real time. A control system of intelligent robocup was developed, which was based on the embedded RTOS of MicroC/OS-II and the digital signal processing (DSP) chip of TMS320F2407. It adopted the control algorithm of PPLID available in the literature. This control system is superior in computation, control and real-time performance.

Abstract:Real-time multitask kernel μC/OS and μC/OS-II are ported to almost all popular processors and are widely used in China. As originally designed for 8 bit microcontroller, the kernel is not aware of nor utilizes the hardware priority calculation instruction that exists in some high-performance 32 bit microcontroller families. Based on MPC5554 from Freescale PowerPC embedded microcontroller, this article shows how the hardware priority calculation instruction is used to improve the system response latency.

Abstract:While μC/OS-Ⅱ is mostly fit for 8/16-bit MCUs and low-end 32-bit MCUs,the new μC/OS-Ⅲ is designed for high-performance 32-bit MCUs,such as ARM Cortex.Kinetis series MCUs based on Cortex-M4 core are used not only for the Freescale Smart Car Competition but also for embedded system teaching in many universities.The official IDE for Kinetis is CodeWarrior.This paper describes how to run μC/OS-Ⅲ on Kinetis MCUs with CodeWarrior,providing reference for using μC/OS-Ⅲ in teaching,research and application.

Abstract:Priority inversion is the most common problem occurring in real-time system when using a real-time kernel.In order to solve the problem,the operation system must dynamically hoist the task priority which occupies the resource.This paper analyses the task scheduling principle of μC/OS-II,and then proposes a method based on the priority inheritance and hoist,which solves the problem.It improves the task scheduling of the real-time system and strengthens its real-time performance for the high-priority task.

Abstract:The transplant of embedded operating system μC/OS-II to AVR mega 128 is introduced. With a centralized monitoring and control system of telecommunication power supply as an example,the hardware structure and software design are described and the application of μC/OS-II in objective system is illuminated. Abstract:Since μC/OS-Ⅱ cannot support the restriction on task scheduling of the same priority,a strategy was proposed based on round-robin scheduling.It borrowed two priority tasks in the kernel as the clock source and the polling engine respectively,so that tasks with the same priority worked under the lowest priority in turns.The method allows the kernel to support up to 192 tasks in the same priority without losing the real-time quality.The experiment and comparison indicate that the proposed method is simple and practical.
