Abstract:We prove that for any nonnegative integers n and r the binomial sum∑k=−nn(2nn−k)k2r is divisible by 22n−min{α(n),α(r)}, where α(n) denotes the number of 1s in the binary expansion of n. This confirms a recent conjecture of Guo and Zeng [J. Number Theory 130 (2010) 172–186].

Abstract:For all positive integers $n$, we prove the following divisibility properties:\[ (2n+3){2n\choose n} \left|3{6n\choose 3n}{3n\choose n},\right. \quad\text{and}\quad(10n+3){3n\choose n} \left|21{15n\choose 5n}{5n\choose n}.\right. \]This confirms two recent conjectures of Z.-W. Sun. Some similar divisibility properties are given. Moreover, we show that, for all positive integers $m$ and $n$, the product $am{am+bm-1\choose am}{an+bn\choose an}$ is divisible by $m+n$. In fact, the latter result can be further generalized to the $q$-binomial coefficients and $q$-integers case, which generalizes the positivity of $q$-Catalan numbers. We also propose several related conjectures.

Abstract:Let $m$ and $n>0$ be integers. Suppose that $p$ is a prime dividing $m-4$ but not dividing $m$. We show that $\nu_p(\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\frac{\binom{2k}k}{m^k})$ and $\nu_p(\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\binom{n-1}{k}(-1)^k\frac{\binom{2k}k}{m^k})$ are at least $\nu_p(n)$, where $\nu_p(x)$ denotes the $p$-adic valuation of $x$. Furthermore, if $p>3$ then $$n^{-1}\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\frac{\bi{2k}k}{m^k}=\frac{\binom{2n-1}{n-1}}{4^{n-1}} (mod p^{\nu_p(m-4)})$$ and $$n^{-1}\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\binom{n-1}{k}(-1)^k\frac{\binom{2k}k}{m^k}=\frac{C_{n-1}}{4^{n-1}} (mod p^{\nu_p(m-4)}),$$ where $C_k$ denotes the Catalan number $\binom{2k}{k}/(k+1)$. This implies several conjectures of Guo and Zeng [GZ]. We also raise two conjectures, and prove that $n>1$ is a prime if and only if $$\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}multinomial{(n-1)k}{k,...,k}=0 (mod n),$$ where $multinomial{k_1+...+k_{n-1}}{k_1,...,k_{n-1}}$ denotes the multinomial coefficient $(k_1+...+k_{n-1})!/(k_1!... k_{n-1}!)$.

Abstract:Let k and n be positive integers. We mainly show that $$(ln+1) | k\binom{kn+ln}{kn},$$ $$2\binom{kn}n | \binom {2n}{n}C_{2n}^{(k-1)}$$, $$\binom{kn}n | (2k-1)C_n\binom{2kn}{2n},$$ $$\binom{2n}n | (k+1)C_n^{(k-1)}\binom{2kn}{kn},$$ $$2^{k-1}\binom{2n}{n} | \binom{2(2^k-1)n}{(2^k-1)n}C_n^{(2^k-2)},$$ $$(6n+1)\binom{5n}{n} | \binom{3n-1}{n-1}C_{3n}^{(4)},$$ and $$\binom{3n}{n} | \binom{5n-1}{n-1}C_{5n}^{(2)},$$ where C_n denotes the Catalan number $\binom{2n}{n}/(n+1)$, and C_m^{(h)} refers to the Catalan number $\binom{(h+1)m}{m}/(hm+1)$ of order h.

Two New Kinds of Numbers and Their Arithmetic Properties

Abstract:We mainly introduce two new kinds of numbers given by $$R_n=\sum_{k=0}^n\binom nk\binom{n+k}k\frac1{2k-1}\quad (n=0,1,2,...)$$ and $$S_n=\sum_{k=0}^n\binom nk^2\binom{2k}k(2k+1)\quad (n=0,1,2,...).$$ We find that such numbers have many interesting arithmetic properties. For example, if $p\equiv1\pmod 4$ is a prime with $p=x^2+y^2$ (where $x\equiv1\pmod 4$ and $y\equiv0\pmod 2$), then $$R_{(p-1)/2}\equiv p-(-1)^{(p-1)/4}2x\pmod{p^2}.$$ Also, $$\frac1{n^2}\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}S_k\in\mathbb Z \frac1n\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}S_k(x)\in\mathbb Z[x]\quad\text{for all} n=1,2,3,...,$$ where $S_k(x)=\sum_{j=0}^k\binom kj^2\binom{2j}j(2j+1)x^j$. For any positive integers $a$ and $n$, we show that, somewhat surprisingly, $$\frac1{n^2}\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}(2k+1)\binom{n-1}k^a\binom{-n-1}k^a\in\mathbb Z {and} \frac 1n\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\frac{\binom{n-1}k^a\binom{-n-1}k^a}{4k^2-1}\in\mathbb Z.$$ We also solve a conjecture of V.J.W. Guo and J. Zeng, and pose several conjectures for further research.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider two particular binomial sums [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] which are inspired by two series for [Formula: see text] obtained by Guillera. We consider their divisibility properties and prove that they are divisible by [Formula: see text] for all integers [Formula: see text]. These divisibility properties are stronger than those divisibility results found by He, who proved the above two sums are divisible by [Formula: see text] with the WZ-method.

Abstract:We mainly introduce two new kinds of numbers given by R-n = Sigma(n)(k=0) ((n)(k)) ((n + k)(k)) 1/2k - 1 (n = 0,1,2,...), S-n = Sigma(n)(k=0) ((n)(k))(2) ((2k)(k)) (2k + 1) (n = 0,1,2,...). We find that such numbers have many interesting arithmetic properties. For example, if p 1 (mod 4) is a prime with p = x(2 )+ y(2) (where x 1 (mod 4) and y 0 (mod 2)), then R(p-1)/2 p - (-1)((p-1)/4)2x ( mod p(2)). Also, 1/n(2) Sigma(n-1)(k=0) S-k is an element of Z and 1/n Sigma(n-1)(k=0) S-k(x) is an element of Z[x] for all n = 1,2,..., where S-k(x) = Sigma(k)(j=0) ((k)(j))(2) ((2j)(j)) (2j + 1)x(j). For any positive integers a and n, we show that, somewhat surprisingly, 1/n(2) Sigma(n-1)(k=0)(2k + 1) ((n - 1)(k))(a) ((-n - 1)(k))(a) is an element of Z and 1/n Sigma(n-1)(k=0) ((n - 1)(k))(a) ((-n - 1)(k))(a)/4k(2) - 1 is an element of Z. We also solve a conjecture of V. J. W. Guo and J. Zeng, and pose several conjectures for further research.

Abstract:Let p be an odd prime and let a be a positive integer. In this paper we investigate the sum $\sum_{k=0}^{p^a-1}\binom{hp^a-1}{k}\binom{2k}{k}/m^k$ mod p^2, where h,m are p-adic integers with m\not=0 (mod p). For example, we show that if h\not=0 (mod p) and p^a>3 then $$ sum_{k=0}^{p^a-1}\binom{hp^a-1}{k}\binom{2k}{k}(-h/2)^k =(\frac{1-2h}{p^a})(1+h((4h-2)^{p-1}/h^{p-1}-1)) (mod p^2),$$ where (-) denotes the Jacobi symbol. Here is another remarkable congruence: If p>3 then $$\sum_{k=0}^{p^a-1}\binom{p^a-1}{k}\binom{2k}{k}(-1)^k =3^{p-1}(\frac{p^a}3) (mod p^2).$$

Abstract:In this paper we initiate the study of products and sums divisible by central binomial coefficients. We show that 2(2n+1)binom(2n,n)| binom(6n,3n)binom(3n,n) for every n=1,2,3,... Also, for any nonnegative integers $k$ and $n$ we have $$\binom {2k}k | \binom{4n+2k+2}{2n+k+1}\binom{2n+k+1}{2k}\binom{2n-k+1}n$$ and $$\binom{2k}k | (2n+1)\binom{2n}nC_{n+k}\binom{n+k+1}{2k},$$ where $C_m$ denotes the Catalan number $\binom{2m}m/(m+1)=\binom{2m}m-\binom{2m}{m+1}$. Applying this result we obtain two sums divisible by central binomial coefficients.

Abstract:Let k be a positive integer and p be a prime.We give some congruences involving the binomial coefficients((k+1)p-a)p-a),(kp-1p-a) with 1 ≤ a ≤ p-1 and （kp+p-1/2b±p-1/2±b),(kp-1p-1/2±b) with 0 ≤ b ≤ p-1/2.In particular,we get a generalization of Morley's congruence.Meanwhile,some congruences about the summation of ((k+1)p-ap-a) are obtained.

Abstract:It is known that∑k=0∞(2kk)(2k+1)4k=π2and∑k=0∞(2kk)(2k+1)16k=π3. In this paper we obtain their p-adic analogues such as∑p/23 is a prime and E0,E1,E2,… are Euler numbers. Besides these, we also deduce some other congruences related to central binomial coefficients. Abstract:Let q>1 and m>0 be relatively prime integers. We find an explicit period νm(q) such that for any integers n>0 and r we have[n+νm(q)r]m(a)≡[nr]m(a)(modq) whenever a is an integer with gcd(1−(−a)m,q)=1, or a≡−1(modq), or a≡1(modq) and 2|m, where [nr]m(a)=∑k≡r(modm)(nk)ak.
